I taught myself this special "electric guitar like" style on 5-str.banjo. But I have learnt Scruggs and Keith style banjo at the first and played bluegrass in beginning.
I don't believe this is a real banjo or that this is good. It takes away from what the banjo really is. I think you should throw that out, get you a real banjo, and learn to pick it right. The banjo isn't supposed to sound like that.
@1Picker15 This sir, is an ignorant comment. The banjo is and has ALWAYS been, an improvised instrument. You made them from what you had. There is nothing MORE "banjo" than doing something to change it to suit your style and taste.
I really don't have the skills or money to file down part of the neck and add a peggead at the 5th fret, so I'm gonna have a redneck looking electric banjo. I might even wrap it in duct tape for added effect.
I've been wanting to buy an electric banjo, but I'm flat broke. I have 2 regular banjos, and 2 electric guitars. I almost never play my first guitar, so I'm thinking I'll make it into an electric banjo. I'll tune the high e string down to a D, remove the top string, and replace the 5th string with a high E string tuned up to a g. if that string breaks from the extra tension, I'll get railroad spikes put in at the third fret to compensate for the longer string. (continued)
It was made by Mr. Neuszer from Slovakia. I bought it from second hand for $1000 and rebuilt electronics (added FX processor inside and changed banjo pickup). Try to google some of Czech handcrafters e.g. Janish or Capek banjos.
You´re wrong. The main advantage is to have just instrument on stage and easy to switch from banjo to guitar with lot of effects. I can play bluegrass banjo, steel guitar, telecaster, overdriven rock guitar on one instrument.
Hot Buttered Popcorn? Are you kidding, that is so freaking awesome. Nice horse pillows. So seriously, any chance you tabbed all that out for your fans to learn?
I would just love the template for that much stuff up and down the neck. Nice work!
Whered you get the metal clip? what's it called? Ive seen one before, and really loved the tone it gave the banjo, but never could find one or anything about it!

Are you self taught or do you have some kind of educational background that provides you with the skills to make that thing?

You're entirely ignorant and narrow minded. I suppose no one should play anything that isn't an African tackhead banjo, then? You silly, silly man.
Quack4Zac 7 months ago
@1Picker15 and earl scruggs wasn't supposed to pick the way he did and now its a respected style you close minded individual

thats preety sweet wat kind of banjo is it looks cool and does it have volume without an amp
banjodude780 2 years ago
@banjodude780 I think its Deering crossfire. I doubt it has much volume. I assume its like an electric guitar, very little volume without an amp.
HillbillyJ 2 years ago
because i played a gold tone electric and it was pretty loud with out an amp
