I have a theory about the whole not trusting Sam thing. I think that Sam Weiss tells the truth, but perhaps it's not what he says that you shouldn't trust. Perhaps it's how he says it, things he doesn't say, and even what he's doing. You're so focused on trying to figure out why his words are untrustworthy that you don't think about his actions. For instance, what was he doing with that bowling ball at the end? It looked as though it had some kind of secret significance, didn't it?
technically its not a romantic choice..peter will not actively choose. whomever he feels for more when he enters the machine..will influence the target of the machine..u cant control ur feelings, so he cannot consciously choose which universe survives.
Here's a wild guess but I don't think Sam is one of the First People, I think the first ppl could be the Observers. The cylinder in 1x4 looks like the same tech as the machine and they knew all about it. It was their fault this whole mess happened not Walters, he was just trying to save Peter.
@toneFT The writers said almost immediately that "We have seen the First People already" but that "they are not the Observers." But of course it turns out Walter Bishop was the "First Person". I'm surprised we didn't catch that before--the components of the device being hidden everywhere was just like the components of Jones's teleporter being hidden everywhere!
@AcrossTheEchoes Thanks for your comment, the problem with Walter building the machine is it's a time paradox, he found the pieces, put them together or Peter did, then in the future he sent them to the past. The thing is he didn't create the machine, he just found the pieces that had non human writing/language on the instructions.
The difference with that and the Jone's teleporter is that Walter built the machine then took it apart and deliberately hid them so no one can use it.
@toneFT I will have to watch "The Day We Died" again, for some reason I remember Peter saying that Walter created the machine and sent it back in time (Peter said, "Yes, but the First People are US--you, more specifically. And maybe Astrid, or Ella, I don't know. ..."). Then again, I suppose Peter could've been confused about it too, if I was. But, whatever happened, the big questions are "Sam Weiss?????" and "Where is Peter!?"
the fates of the universes fall on Peter's choice. The writers are genius for presenting a romance conflict as something a lot more significant than just a trivial high school love triangle.
@408thefourzeroeight I know, man. The thing is alot of people on Fringe-Forum hate the idea and think it's too soap opera-y but I think it's a unique approach to using romance on a show.
It would be nice to have a full compilation of all the sam weiss scenes back to back... this scene is so reminiscent of some of the early jacob scenes in lost.
Well its really up to our Olivia to make this happen. The only reason he came back to our universe was for her. So if she keeps pushing him away which is precisely what shes doing and that dude that read minds which gave her that note which read he still has feelings for the other Olivia. No one else can sway him but Olivia not his father or his mother hes always been a lone wolf.
I don't care if the magic chalkboard told us not to trust him, Sam Weiss is awesome and a refreshingly laid-back character. I hope we get to see much more of him in upcoming episodes.
It took Nina this long to figure this out? Stop smoking the weed, Nina!
And so nice to see Sam Weiss again! Love the reference to the cylinder in "The Arrival." So Peter's a human version of that cylinder? Hmm.
And yes, of course, Sam Weiss, who I think IS a First Person, knows all.
He certainly knows about the rumor about Faux. Sadly he knows ALOT more than we do! But we know in the end Peter will choose our Olivia. (Sam does too.)
1) Bolivia could very well be pregnant 2) we need to see how bolivia reacts with Frank her over there Boyfriend. so its gonna be interesting to see what happens next and Im wondering if we should trust Sam..remember the anagram "don't trust sam wiess"?
@maniclater if Bolivia is pregnant I swear in the name of Asimov that I will stop watching Fringe right now. Walter is the best character on tv, Agreed. Fringe has the best "criminal cases", Agreed. I never seen more awesome plot twists in another show, Agreed. BUT if they bring up some crappy teenage show plot like that the bitch is pregnant, I may as well watch 90201, or another stuff like that.
ok so peter has feelings for bolivia. makes sence he slept with her. but olivia knowing said fact can do 2 things. shell react like every other women and push peter away back into the arms of bolivia. if olivia knows what nina knows then MAYBE she will work hard enough to make him fall in love with her all over again. now we take into account a couple of things. 1)
i'm not your problem peter bishop is.
