Actually, it was Nancy that introduced Sid to heroin and started his downward spiral. I read the book by Nancy's mother, (showed on this vid @ .31). Nancy came from a normal, loving family, but she was born with issues that led to a lifetime of mental illness, she was never "normal". I highly recommend the book, it really made me understand her. Her mother believes that she pleaded with Sid to kill her because she was truly suicidal, pretty much as it was played out in the movie.

A guy was seen later with a big wad of money with Nancy's hair band around it. Most likely a robbery that went bad. Unfortunately Sid died before he could be cleared.
