I remember this Volvo was driven by Hornsby Shire in the Veolia contract during 2002 until 2004 for the Yellow bins but they sold it for a 2nd hand Iveco Acco with the International badge.
@Accoraptor This truck has always been working in Warringah mate - since the late 1990s along with another handful of near identical side loaders. Also did you notice you've posted 9 comments? Might be better summing everything up over 1 or 2 comments lol
@MitchellM15 This Volvo has never been driven by URM only Veolia has and it had stopped been driven by the council because Veolia had lost the contract.
He's not the best driver, he sits too far away from the bins and uses too much boom (ie sliding the arm out/ in) which can be seen in the first 10-20 seconds.. but he is quick which is good, he had better be checking his mirrors for other cars and bikes etc...!
Awesome to see someone taking the time to record trucks in action! :)
No... largest I know of is 34m! Then you can get 60m skips! Don't forget yds are smaller than metres... so a lot of the time the bodies are either equal or slightly larger!
Yeah!! I noticed that when the truck stops, the cab and chassis shakes around a lot, a lot of Volvo's seem to do that when they get older. Does it also collect the bottles?
Noticed that too, be fun in the cab! HEHE! Well, there's two of these trucks, one's used 5 days a week for single dwelling collections and the other's a spare except for Friday's which is when it's used for residential collections too! At this stage I've only seen it collect paper, I've seen this one twice in the units, the rest have been the 3 IVECOs!
WOW, that Volvo FL6 cab and compactor is way older than the FL6s i recorded. its good to see that sum companies still have old trucks still in the fleet lol
They only stopped driving this truck after 2009.

I had a Mercedes M-Class ML320 that sounded exactly like this Volvo but only uglier.

@Accoraptor Yeh I know mate, I work in Warringah, I was only referring to the Collex / Veolia contract about the Volvo side loader.

@MitchellM15 Is it still being driven or not anymore?

Isn't the MJE FL4 34m? Because on the MJE website, it doesn't add the body's capacity with the hopper capacity!
macdonaldjohnstonfan 4 years ago
FL4's a 33m body with body + tailgate...
