  • MLK was not a perfect person, but then who amongst us is? He cheated on his wife on numerous occasions but that should not detract from the man's immense intellectual gifts and his overriding sense of humanity and desire for justice. J Edgar Hoover despised him for these reasons, as well as for personal motivations. Hoover was a racist and a closeted, celibate homosexual. King was a humanist and fucked women with gusto (rather like JFK, another Hoover bete noir). Hoover was an inadequate.
