It's comparable to the difference between driving a simple Cessna and a fighter jet. You're still flying, but one is much more rewarding for the extra effort required.
The new Iphone processor is great but Windows Mobile based devices are already catching up. For the record WM can already emulate the Iphone and everything you love about it except the App store and many of the games. But with skyfire's launch browsing the web on WM has become superior as have many other aspects of it. The Iphone is a great unit but WM based deviced are more diverse and currently have much more to offer me and many others.
This video is pretty inaccurate. I will def give it to the Iphone for bringing new things to the mobile world. But as a person who has used both an Iphone and WM back in 2007 when this was created the Iphone was not at all reliable for business solutions. Writing emails without a physical keyboard was painstaking, the lack of 3G and and MMS function was retarded and very annoying. The Iphone has since evolved since 2007 but so has WM and I have used the new Iphone 3G and I love the processor.
The iphone has set the standard and apple keeps raising the bar with every new phone and update. Other phones copy. ( you can't blame them, who wouldn't copy the best right? )
So yeah, its an amazing device and i would recommend it to anyone.

There's no doobt that the iphone has the BEST interface of all cellular phones. But don't get ti twisted. Windows Mobile Devices are more customizable and have apps to accomplish anything PRODUCTIVE. Plus you can use all of Apples web apps on any Windows Mobile Device. As far as the touch screen goes .. When was this ever a must have feature on a cell phone?

I've been playing with both HP iPaqs (handheld PDA) and some windows mobiles in form of HTC mostly (same crap anyways) and I've never liked them. FIrst of all, the touch is a piece of ****. You have to hit the screen hard, and to move stuff you need to press down preeeeeetty hard. Very not user friendly. In the iPhone, you hardly need to touch! And the zooming, wow. can't be easier! Never really liked the interface with the windows mobile devices either, not user friendly, slow and very buggy.
Oh and I know this is an old video, but have you tried Gmail for a change vs Outlook? IMHO it does everything you'd ever want in an email service and it's web-based and you can sync it just fine with just about any phone with a data connection.
If you're comfortable with messing with registry and flashing ROMs,etc., Windows Mobile is great!

I don't hate iPhone anymore, but Windows Mobile wins. The HTC Touch Pro is just awesome and TouchFLO 3D is SO much better than the Home Screen and is VERY smooth.
Still, Windows Mobile and Palm are the ideal mobile operating systems. iPhone and Blackberry don't have an office suite, and don't really have anything as far as Palm and Windows Mobile can offer. Of course the iPhone and Blackberry devices are more e-mail and messaging.

I have an HTC Touch Pro from Sprint and am thinking of using the iPhone.. I think my argument is the same as Chris because the Touch Pro has a keyboard a GREAT camera and all these features and TouchFlo 3D is freakin nice to use! But the problem is its still Windows Mobile which lags.. It lags when I get a text message! That kind of sucks.. WinMo can run a crap ton of stuff and I love it but its just irritating how horrible the core of the OS really is and how buggy it is! iPhone is expensive

I have an 8GB iPhone 3G. I switched from a Samsung Blackjack with win monile 6, that I updated myself. The iPhone is way better than any Win device I have EVER used. Its way better than the Blackberry Storm too. I use Outlook 2007, and have no problem syncing my contacts and e-mail. I also have an Extender plugin to backup my SMS messages.

I have had experience with windows mobile devices, blackberries and the iPhone. While the iPhone is the most fun to use I find that Blackberries are still the quintessential business devices. Their emailing capabilities are unsurpassed and no touch screen will ever match the data entry capabilities offered by a full qwerty keyboard.
Who is stupid enough to recommend a malfunctional device for business use. There where problems a volonte and there are still problems a volonte. I would rather run a business on a safe phone, then on a phone that has pretty animations, but sucks for the rest...

I would get an iPhone mainly for the itunes/ipod and the app store. I debate between this and the Blackjack II and lean towards the blackjack for the keyboard and removable battery.
The only time that I would consider to get an iPhone is when Apple decides to let other carriers have the phone, not just the one with the most EXPENSIVE data plans. Sprint has a pretty cheap plan, and if they get the iPhone, I'll hand in my HTC Touch and get the iPhone, but for now, it's just too damn expensive to own and operate the iPhone the way it's meant to be used.
Yep same here. I like the iPhone but AT&T is really expensive and I have another 2 years of Sprint to live with.. I have the HTC Touch and I really like it actually because it can do everything! It may not do everything as well as the iPhone in a lot of areas but still does more then the iPhone can do at the moment. It has more options but otherwise I would get an iPhone I bet if it came to Sprint.

It's not that easy for me to pick iPhone for these reasons: 1. Big and bulky, 2. horrible camera, 3. no video, 4. Too many people have it, 5. No tv out 6. Too hard for 3rd party developers to make software. 7. Forced to one provider and for way too long. 8. Should be able to show more video formats.

Dude thanks for thr video but I have had an HP Windows Mobile and I then got an iphone and I could only bare it for a couple weeks before I sold it and switched back to theWindows Mobile. Yhea the Iphone is smoother but it is not as capable. The programs are very limited and the keyboard was terrible. Its like they more concerned about graphics than the true potencial of the software was not worked on at all. And the buttons arent hard to press if you get a phone with a pen. Much better!

Pocket PC wins due to the fact that me and my fellow visually impaired computer users have unmatched access to Windows Mobile devices, along with our custom devices - those run Windows CE with the exception of one that runs Linux. iPhone is not accessible at all. Even though some things enlarge, for many people this is not enough. We need a full blow magnifier such as the Macintosh Zoom utility.

this looked more like a commercial than a real feature comparison, business users that are only going to read email, maybe the'll find the iPhone a better device, but if you need to do harder tasks, forget it, heads up, the HI/UI interface is better, but thats just the inteface, when it comes down to the real use, .... (reading word files...anyone?, big attachments?,pdf?)... still the iphone is a good PERSONAL device, not a business device.

umm... didn't i watch on cnet that the iphone sucks if you dont believe me go and have a look and the iphone does have abig screen but has really bad res eg. i have a htc touch diamond it has a 640x480 res and i think the iphone's res is 320x480 or something like that not sure on that but i know my phone has a smaller screen but 2x the pixels its really high res for a small screen i am starting to see the pixels clearly on my laptop screen... its driving me nuts!!!

There's no doobt that the iphone has the BEST interface of all cellular phones. But don't get ti twisted. Windows Mobile Devices are more customizable and have apps to accomplish anything PRODUCTIVE. Plus you can use all of Apples web apps on any Windows Mobile Device. As far as the touch screen goes .. When was this ever a must have feature on a cell phone?

LOL. Apple app store only has like...35-37k apps in it. And you have to pay to download them to your device. While wm has more like a million apps, but they are spread all over the internet, so it's hard to estimate. Also, SDK for Iphone was released in 2007 and
for wm back in 2003.(but there was an earlier version of wm before 2003, so there was probably an early version of SDK)

I've been playing with both HP iPaqs (handheld PDA) and some windows mobiles in form of HTC mostly (same crap anyways) and I've never liked them. FIrst of all, the touch is a piece of ****. You have to hit the screen hard, and to move stuff you need to press down preeeeeetty hard. Very not user friendly. In the iPhone, you hardly need to touch! And the zooming, wow. can't be easier! Never really liked the interface with the windows mobile devices either, not user friendly, slow and very buggy.

Oh and I know this is an old video, but have you tried Gmail for a change vs Outlook? IMHO it does everything you'd ever want in an email service and it's web-based and you can sync it just fine with just about any phone with a data connection.

I love it for the fact that there's no BS eye candy covering my eyes from what's really going on. I don't care how many "apps" the iPhone has, the enduring legacy of all the useful software on WinMo cannot be beat.
Putting the iPhone against other smartphones is like comparing an F1 racer to a Honda Civic. One is more complicated but very rewarding and the other is designed for more common use.

Still, Windows Mobile and Palm are the ideal mobile operating systems. iPhone and Blackberry don't have an office suite, and don't really have anything as far as Palm and Windows Mobile can offer. Of course the iPhone and Blackberry devices are more e-mail and messaging.

I have an HTC Touch Pro from Sprint and am thinking of using the iPhone.. I think my argument is the same as Chris because the Touch Pro has a keyboard a GREAT camera and all these features and TouchFlo 3D is freakin nice to use! But the problem is its still Windows Mobile which lags.. It lags when I get a text message! That kind of sucks.. WinMo can run a crap ton of stuff and I love it but its just irritating how horrible the core of the OS really is and how buggy it is! iPhone is expensive

I have an 8GB iPhone 3G. I switched from a Samsung Blackjack with win monile 6, that I updated myself. The iPhone is way better than any Win device I have EVER used. Its way better than the Blackberry Storm too. I use Outlook 2007, and have no problem syncing my contacts and e-mail. I also have an Extender plugin to backup my SMS messages.

I have had experience with windows mobile devices, blackberries and the iPhone. While the iPhone is the most fun to use I find that Blackberries are still the quintessential business devices. Their emailing capabilities are unsurpassed and no touch screen will ever match the data entry capabilities offered by a full qwerty keyboard.

I agree, the iphone is highly agile with interactivity on any media level.
However the pocket pc is most suited for the versatile power user. Without going through the list, Iphone = alot of stuff, PPC = some stuff, add alot more.

The only time that I would consider to get an iPhone is when Apple decides to let other carriers have the phone, not just the one with the most EXPENSIVE data plans. Sprint has a pretty cheap plan, and if they get the iPhone, I'll hand in my HTC Touch and get the iPhone, but for now, it's just too damn expensive to own and operate the iPhone the way it's meant to be used.

Yep same here. I like the iPhone but AT&T is really expensive and I have another 2 years of Sprint to live with.. I have the HTC Touch and I really like it actually because it can do everything! It may not do everything as well as the iPhone in a lot of areas but still does more then the iPhone can do at the moment. It has more options but otherwise I would get an iPhone I bet if it came to Sprint.

It's not that easy for me to pick iPhone for these reasons: 1. Big and bulky, 2. horrible camera, 3. no video, 4. Too many people have it, 5. No tv out 6. Too hard for 3rd party developers to make software. 7. Forced to one provider and for way too long. 8. Should be able to show more video formats.

Dude thanks for thr video but I have had an HP Windows Mobile and I then got an iphone and I could only bare it for a couple weeks before I sold it and switched back to theWindows Mobile. Yhea the Iphone is smoother but it is not as capable. The programs are very limited and the keyboard was terrible. Its like they more concerned about graphics than the true potencial of the software was not worked on at all. And the buttons arent hard to press if you get a phone with a pen. Much better!

I would love to use an iphone or ipod touch, but this requirement of these programs is holding me back. i did see this thing called "styletap" which is an iphone palm emulator. Pocket PC wins due to the fact that me and my fellow visually impaired computer users have unmatched access to Windows Mobile devices, along with our custom devices - those run Windows CE with the exception of one that runs Linux. iPhone is not accessible at all. Even though some things enlarge, for many people this is not enough. We need a full blow magnifier such as the Macintosh Zoom utility.

this looked more like a commercial than a real feature comparison, business users that are only going to read email, maybe the'll find the iPhone a better device, but if you need to do harder tasks, forget it, heads up, the HI/UI interface is better, but thats just the inteface, when it comes down to the real use, ....
