I have a d60. I also have a 18-55 vr and a 55-200 vr. Do you think it would be better to buy the d90 without the kit lens and keep my 18-55 and 55-200 or just pay 300 bucks more and get the 18-103 vr kit?
obviously I really like the D90.. the price is also great. However, there are a few above it that are even better but very expensive and lack video... though video on the D90 is sorta unsatisfactory due to the rolling shutter.
oh wow! coolness! I actually get to use my camera tomorrow, my friend needs me to take some pictures of him. With the weather, I haven't been able to use it too much. (Or just haven't, rather.)
have fun with the video mode ;) just get stuck into the raw footage you can cut the clips later with a video editor like iMovie (Mac) I use Movie Maker (Windows) get a big memory card (4G+) too they are cheap as chips these days. :)
I'm already prepared! I have the SDHC 16gb! and I also picked up the new iMovie 09. It is supposed to bring back a lot of the features that iMovie 08 took away. So I'm really excited about that.
I was going to do amazon, but I decided to get it at best buy, because I purchased an extra warranty, and accidental damage plan that also includes a yearly service. I was pretty sure I mentioned that was part of the price, if not i'm sorry.
Well the camera + lens kit was exactly 1,299.99. The 4 year service/warranty/damage plan was 329.98. I think Amazon might have been about a hundred bucks cheaper, but I can't remember.
I bought the D300 because of the better AF system and because I thought it would be more durable. #1 , shutter life . 150,000 rated for the D300 , 100,000 for the D90 ..
#2 , memmory . CF cards , as compared to SD cards . Much faster transfer rate , and more storage. D300 100% viewfinder coverage
AF. MLU, 10 pin and PC Sync ports, larger buffer, 14 bit files, and ability to meter with non-chipped lenses (such as older AIS lenses and the PC-E lenses).
Ah, I see thanks, I didn't know all of that. I'm still happy that I chose the d90, because it's cheaper. (Even though it was a lot for me.) But for someone who is a professional, or a high quantity enthusiast I definitely see your point. That is awesome, I didn't know those facts.
The D90 uses the 11-point Nikon Multi-CAM1000 AF module, same as D80, and D200 but updated to include 3D focus tracking and Face Detection (of the D300). I prefer the clean look in my viewfinder with the D300s 51-point AF system, and its greater coverage works better for me.
Battery Life
Nikon rates the D300 for 1000 shots per charge (CIPA). Surprisingly, the D90 gets only 850 shots per charge
Did you find out that the black EEEPC has a webcam built in? Makes me sick lol I bought a Sony Vaio like 4 years ago its about the same size as the EEEPC maybe a little smaller for like $2,500. Its a Sony Vaio TR2. Once again you must be in debt up to your eye balls..
I'm not, but I didn't notice the webcam on mine. I did notice it on the handy little Acer laptop, but I went with the Asus eeepc. Good to hear from you!
Well - In these price ranges the lenses are really important :S That's the intressting part.. So, insteed of going with a really expensive camara I will go with a 450D most problably and then get a bunch of lenses :)
Canons are a lot -- and I mean, a LOT -- cheaper to own overall. If I were making a living off of my photography then I might consider Nikon, but the price/performance ratio puts Canon way out ahead. Oh, well.
Now you tell me! Just kidding. I knew what I was getting into. It kind of hurts, but at the same time I wanted room to grow. I examined all the different stats and settled on this one. Time will tell though.
YAY! I hope you enjoy, i look forward to getting one myself!!

I like the 55-200. apparently these lenses aren't as good as non-bundled lenses.. but fine for what i needed

I watched the vid again and didn't hear it. I'm curious, what type of plan did you receive and how much did it all cost in total (with tax included)?

Viewfinder Accuracy
D300 is 100%, D90 is 96%.
Auto focus

Hi. I'm thinking about getting a 50D or a D90, but in the matter of acctual performance, which is better do you think?
Really. I don't care about that videofunction at all since I have a HD camera allready.
What I'm into is taking good pictures overall, they are in about the same price range so..? With the kit-lenses, which one should I get?
Xraijs 3 years ago
If you absolutely HAVE to get a camera in this price range, get a Canon 40D, it's compared to a nikon D300 and it's a lot cheaper
