  • ooooo weeeee damn boy i need a drink !!!!

  • Thanks for this gem!

  • This is on a great cd - The World of Jazz - Faces of Jazz - 1992 Trace Trading - Licenced from TKO Records. Made in Holland. All outstanding stuff: Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Red Norvo, Oscar Pettiford, Coleman Hawkins, Dizzie Gillespie, Charlie Parker. Charlie and Dizzie have the great Trummy Young on trombone and doing the vocals except for this definitive blues by Rubberlegs Williams.

  • @MrDrewlips The number for the cd is 0400502

  • I wish it would never end. Awesome, Thanks Mark.

  • man....i have a bunch of 78's as well but you got me beat by a long shot....nobody here in the Pacific Northwest want to give their stuff away....or they want to give out crap that i don't like.......congrats man...how do you do it?

  • Man where do you find this music now. I search for vinyls like mad but never find anything THIS amazing!

  • This is from a collection of about 320 jazz records I acquired from a friend who has carefully compiled this collection over many decades. Almost half way through the group, still a long way to go. Lots more to come.

  • You are truly a great soul for sharing these gems sir. I thank you dearly!!

  • Rubberlegs Williams sounds anything BUT hurting from the blues in this recording.

The story goes that by mistake, Parker slipped benzedrine into Rubberlegs Williams coffee, hence the overexhuberant vocal rendition. When Williams found out, Parker had to stay out of his sight since Williams apparently threatened to do physical harm to Parker over the incident.

  • Damn, JC!

The info from this session keeps getting better! I found out recently that this is the first session pairing Bird & Diz on record, now this!

Yeah, apparently this unit recorded 8 tunes on this session, half under Hart's name here & half under Trummy Young's name.

CDB, if I may, I'd like to post a video response featuring one of those Trummy Young ("Sorta Kinda") sides to compliment this.

Was planning to post my own copy of this Hart record, but I'll gladly hold off. ;)

  • Happy to have your video here. It's all about the music. There are 3 other CONTINENTAL records in this collection, I think one has SORTA KINDA.

Go ahead and post your copy of this tune. The more exposure the better. Again, it's all about the music. Cliff

  • Right on - you certainly snagged some prime stuff in this last haul. :)

  • As of last night, I have recorded 76 sides from this collection, 564 to go. Almost halfway through the first of 3 milk crates full of records.

  • i heard that the coffee belonged to Parker and that Rubberlegs just took a swig of it not knowing that Parker put benzedrine in it.......

  • Maybe that was it, but whatever the case, when Rubberlegs found out what had happened he went ballistic threatened to beat the shit out of Parker if he saw him. Supposedly a subsequent session with the two was cancelled and Dizzy had to act very diplomatically to calm things down.
