  • Thank you for this video. My Father died from C Diff on the 29th of October 2011. He went into the hospital with an infection in his lungs, and then developed C Diff. If you do read up on C Diff. You will find that it because of unsanitary conditions in the hospital. Regualr "Bleach" will kill C Diff. If the hospitals began using bleach to clean with this could be stopped.. My best friend and Father is dead because of a lack of knowledge by those who think they are Gods!

  • Just want to add,

    For anyone going through this,

I wish you all the best!! I would not wish this on even my worst enemy!! (if i had one). And I am hoping that the pain goes away soon.

This whole thing has been just AWFUL :(

  • I took ciprofloxacin and Flagyl for a "flu",for a week. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and am waiting for a colonoscopy, so when my diarrhea and pain only got worse, I assumed it was due to whatever the colonoscopy was scheduled for.. After 4 days home in bed with immense pressure/pain,I went to hospital. Catscan showed a"red raw"colon and i tested + for C.Diff infection. Spent 4 days in hospital. I am home now recovering, and back on those same antibiotics(?!?). Worst experience ever in my life!

  • i dont feel good. i stopped taking antibiotics and now im sick i have c-diff but now i only shit like once a day will I be ok?

  • Thank you so much for this video! I am so sorry about your mother-in-law! I am also battling this awful condition. I am furious that medical personnel don't make you aware of this possibility with the use of antibiotics. I am trying to let everyone I know about this bug. I just posted a blog on a site I frequent, and I am on my soapbox til I think people are sick of hearing about it! There are some horrible stories out there from c diff sufferers - and the situation is getting worse.

  • wow thank u for the video! i found it from wiki i think, but my family member is just prescribed clindamycin, we dont want them to take it, but they have a bad infection, well at least we know what to watch out for! im so sorry about your mother in law :(

  • there's a new treatment out that works, but a lot of people would find it a gross treatment. It involves using fecal matter from a donor and introducing it into the bowel of those suffering from c diff. Yes it is icky and sounds gross but it works! Lives are saved.

  • hi Mark,

i am Deborah my mother as died with difficile with the same problem as winifred she went in with UTI on 6th nov and Died 30th nov and i want to sue them but i dont know how to go about it

  • They did remove her entire large intestine. I am so glad I went over there to be in the hospital with her during this time. There were mistakes and delays that were a little scary. Like when they had her sitting up in a chair (she was still leaking out diarhea) the nurse took the same pillow she had just been sitting on and put it under her head when she put her in bed! I had to say, "No-No please change the pillow case. There is shit on it."

I could go on and on...

  • @sawnflower,

Sounds to me like that Nurse requires glasses more than anything else.

  • My mom is in the hospital now with c-diff. She went in a few weeks ago for knee surgery! The doctors now tell us she has to have her colon removed for any chance of survival now! Colostomy bag for 6-months(if she survives surgery) and then-maybe-they can reconstruct her colon. Oh my! We need God's help!

  • Hi

Keep a very close eye on whats being done with your Mom, I hope it turns ok Mark B

  • Check out a product called MMS -super effective anti pathogen, should take care of it.

  • recently i had to dicipline one of the staff 4 taking her dirty slippers off the floor, shortly after yet another surgery, place them on the sheets that covered her, over her stomach...

now was i right or was i wrong with having this frustration. the other x she was in there her colostomy bag broke open all over the floor, the "clean up" was a HUGE joke... i also got very angry about that... now was i right or was i wrong... since i am being told i get too angry about these issues... excuse me

  • thank you, this is happening as we speak with my mother... they are going to test for this now, heading towards 3 months of hospitalizations

... according 2 a family member all visitors are now required to wear gowns, etc...

this i hope is NOT what is going on, if this is Well Known, then, WHY do "they"

    appear

2 wait so long to follow up???

  • After 5 months of treatment and being constantly on the "right" antiboitics, my mom is in ICU right now battling this disease. Her Medicare 100 days are OVER and the Dr.s don't seem to know what to do next. It's not a little thing or easy to fix!

  • since this is common and a rather simple thing to deal with when it occurs i find suing for neglect to be appropriate if it results in death.

to sue just because you got it is not appropriate.

i am in a situation where my uncle was treated at the hospital for a staff infection. they gave him cheap antibiotics. week later he gets c. diff. and is in the hospital for a week before they figure it out. his doctor tried sending him home before knowing what was the cause. i'm suing for cost only.

  • Thank you for relaying this important information to the public. I am currently battling a c diff infection that I acquired from being given Clindamycin prior to a root canal treatment. I wasn't sick then, but I sure am now. Little did I know how dangerous antibiotics can be. I relapsed just a couple of days after the first treatment and had to begin a 2nd longer course of metronidazole.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I thank you for trying to spread the word about this.

  • @duskie78

hello, i seen your post about 1 year ago on c-diff. this EXACT thing happened to my husband, and 31/2 months later and 3 doses of meds later he still isnt better. now hes on vancocinfor 10 days. did you ever get better?

  • @nita1294 Hi Nita! Oh I am so sorry to hear that your husband has this. It is such a miserable thing to go through. I was sick for a good 3 months. I was taking a second round of metronidazole for MANY weeks, and that med made me feel SO sick. It is hard to tolerate. There were times I thought the med was killing me more than the c diff. But finally things got better. VERY IMPORTANT that he take some probiotics!! I recommend Florastor and Culturelle several times a day. DrugstoreCom

  • thank you for that information!

  • This video informs you of what causes it. It is, as the gentleman says, "antibiotics", that cause cdiff.

It is common practice for MRSA, STOOL and URINE samples/tests to be taken on arrival and every week during their stay.

Anti biotics are to blame for nearly all the cdiff cases, MRSA is usually given to a patient by THEIR relatives but the ward staff are blamed for any virus or infection.

Sueing hurts staff AND patient care. Money doesn't help peoples pain and it isn't "justice".

  • Thanks for this superb summary of the C.diff problem. Testing is indeed absolutely necessary when diarrhoea strikes and so to is adequate hydration and the correct antibiotic treatment.

    Mark, Coventry

  • no sir... we thank you for your valuable blog!

  • I personally have had c. diff for 4 months this year and I have to tell you that it was the most painful experience that I have gone through. I got it from taking an antibiotic. I was never in a hospital. I lost 20 lbs in 4 months and it has now been 4 months and I have not gained any of the weight back... Be CAREFUL..

  • My late mother had had a major stroke and was in a nursing home. She had C. difficile at one point but likely was able to pull through. It was most difficult seeing her as sick as she was but I was really grateful for the help the nurses gave her.

  • Thank you Mark. My mother died of an undiagnosed C.Diff infection and its consequences. All because the attending physician did not think a stool sample was "necessary".

  • My dad died 2/1/06, in a nursing home which was left to deal with the C.Diff dad caught whilst in hospital having been "cured" of the pneumonia that appears as cause of death on his certificate. I am still angry, but am looking at putting my rage to good use by suing the hospital, whilst I still have time.

  • thank you for the information..........its just a pity i did'nt know these facts ....but s in heaven now.....but thank you and... bye
