@manutdtreble7 YES! and panda bear. they never talk about it but i KNOW they get a lot of their inspiration from the beach boys. including and especially SMiLE. the lyrics and song structure and combining vocals. my favorite bands
Cool album...I only checked it out cause I noticed it was ranked on NME Magazine's Top 100 All-Time Albums list (up until 2003). This album was placed at 100. I hadn't heard much post-Pet Sounds, Beach Boys. Here they remind me of the power pop bands of early 70s like Badfinger or The Raspberries.
@AndrewNewZealand You should check them out, like Sunflower or 20/20 or Friends many of the tracks resemble pet sounds a bit. Its a bit more country or folk but its still very great some of my favorite songs are part of those albums
Pure gold, this stuff

I love most of the songs on this album, but it tends to have a tense & depressive feel to it. Maybe it's just my imagination.

The boys were at their best when they developed their style in more directions that no one dreamed of during the days of "Fun, Fun, Fun."

The last three tracks are what makes Surf's Up a masterpiece.

Love the Album but I must ask, what's up with the cover art

@No1TuneRanger Brian was losing his mind... the album was named after his great lost work from Smile. A fitting tribute, albeit dark.

The harmonies in the last part of the song never fail to make me cry every time I hear them.
