It is true, that the M5 (Type e30) set the speed record as fastest saloon car from 1989 up to 1996. But as you see in this ad, it's the M5 - Type e39. This car came out 1998.
So - when this commercial was made, the M5 was already beaten by the Brabus E V12, who broke the speedrecord for saloon cars in September 1996 with 330,4 km/h.
I wonder how the agency told that their customer BMW. After shooting this ad...
brabus is a tuning company, and the e v12 is not a production car, its a modified e class. the m5 was the fastest production saloon in the world at the time.
