  • I love being a US American in USA Magnited States! Even though I don't have a map, I do have a cell phone, which I use both to text and locate a seat in a movie theater. Because they're hard to find.

  • I love this video and I love that ad. I'm just going to say it. I think anyone who talks or texts during a movie is an asshole. If you want to be on your phone so bad, go home, believe me, you won't be missed. There is no excuse. I just went to the movies to watch the Lion King in 3D (which was beyond awesome) and this selfish b**ch in front of me nearly ruined the experience because she was constantly texting throughout the film. People are just assholes.

  • the alamo drafthouse IS the only place i go to the movies. its legit.

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck, this is the greatest ad ever! I want to go to this theater!

  • Either you're a moron or an asshole...take your pick! Exactly!! Narcisism and Entitlement issues with most of the people out there right now.

They don't care about other people, they only care about themselves. I don't go to the movies that often anymore because of that. Why should I have to get pissed off at somebody who is distracting me from watching a movie? Why can't the idiots get a clue?

That's how I feel about all of this.

  • @mrfunderful

Uh Oh ! "enttlement " , the e word you must be a goddamned republcan .

  • I have many times had to tell people to stop talking or turn off their phone lights at theaters. One time i had to ask a guy to remove his bare foot from the top of a chair right next to me. I could see his fungi nail from my peripheral vision. Seriously, how rude and oblivious can you be? Please bring back courtesy and manners to this country.

  • I'd rather they throw out ppl who have their feet on the back of my chair or ppl who laugh too loud. Texting on silent? No, it doesn't bother me. I've seen the light from ppl's phones at the theater before. If the light is bothering you, there's an easy solution to that. Don't look at that person's phone! Watch the movie! Works for me.

  • @trojanqtie So I'm guessing you don't have peripheral vision.

Just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean it doesn't bother anyone else. I'm sure there are tons of people who aren't bothered by people talking in the theater (or people with their feet on the back of the chair or people who laugh too loud,) but that doesn't mean it's okay for them to do these things. People with a bit of empathy and self-awareness get this.

  • Im against the death penalty, except in movietheaters. There should be a guard that instantly kills anyone who uses, in any way, their cellphone, or who makes any sound except laughter or other appropriate human raction behaviour.

Also, people who are tall must sit in the back or submit to a beheading.

  • @TheMangoDeluxe The sad indictment of humanity is those who think the rules don't apply to them. You must be one of "them". That's unfortunate. We could have been BFF.

  • @ilkiki141

I would buy your excuse of "forgetting to turn it off" if there weren't like 5 different times before a movie where it reminds you to silence your phone.

  • I don't do it because when I go to a movie, I want to actually watch it, but I never seen anyone get kicked out because of texting. Whats the problem, it doesn't bother anyone else and wouldn't bother me if I was sitting next to the guy. I'd rather they kick out the guy who put his feet on the back of my seat or the lady who's laughing way too loud, its not that funny....

  • That gal can't POSSIBLY be drunk. Do they serve underage girls at Drafthouse, or did she come there drunk with a fake ID from somewhere else?? She sounds kind of underage to me. OR the women in Texas age REALLY slowly. By 21, most women sound pretty adult, don't they? What 21-year-old sounds more like she's 15 or 16? That's fucking creepy.

  • @whoo689 you need to get out more then. She sounds young but could easily pass for younger 20s.

  • Young Turks? More like YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN amirite? srsly I get your point but I think your real point is you hate and or resent the younger generation, NEWS FLASH, THAT'S YOUR DEMO! YOU CROTCHETY OLD TURKS.

  • @NoCommentChick Fail, they aren't calling themselves young turkish people...

The Young Turks was a movement against the absolute monarchy of the Ottoman empire. The name is symbolic and refers to people who were opposed to the status quo and who were modernists.

  • @NoCommentChick Is that really too much to ask to not use ur cell phone during a movie? Is that really too much to ask? Really? Really NoCommentChick? That's really too much to ask to ask someone to not use their cellular device in a dark room with 100 other people who paid 10 bucks to see this movie? Is that REALLY too much to ask?

  • is this girl like 12

  • I hate when people are texting during the movie. It always bothers me, especially when they are sitting right around where I am because the light is crazy distracting.

  • i hate people that use their phones during a movie!!!1! turn your phones off!!!!

  • Drunken Texan Bitch

  • Why don't American cinemas have mobile phone blockers? Our local cinema in Norway has a mobile phone blocker, so your reception is blocked. People still use their phones occasionally, but since they can't send anything they don't use them as much.

  • I LOVE THIS. i mean, everything about this. go alamo. go matt. go christy. go ben. if youre gonna go to the theatre, turn off your damn phone. if you wanna text, rent it from redbox. i have add and am very distractable. that little square of light is SOOO distracting. (other annoying thing? kids. misbehaving. and their parents do nothing. QUIT KICKING MY SEAT i dont care if you think im a bitch! god. movies are too expensive for that shit.

  • I was sat in a theater and someone was using their phone to take photos of themselves with flash during the movie. WTF

  • A-FUCKING-MEN! The only other thing that pisses me off when someone is texting during a movie is when someone actually ANSWERS A CALL DURING THE MOVIE!

  • I wanted to throw her out of the internet just listening to her. Everyone else manages to figure out that texting during a movie is not cool without having to get thrown out.

  • Ugh, my word... "I am an Uhmerican, I can DUH whatever I want! Wherever I want! This yo face? I can piss on it, cos' I'm an Uhmerican!"

You need to tell people "Freedom" doesnt mean you can literally do whatever you feel like doing, or say whatever you feel like saying with no consequence. But if you do, you better be prepared for another person and their "Freedom" to come along and do something about your ignorant ass... namely throw you out and hope you land head first so nothing gets damaged

  • The texter is a inconsiderate, rude, uneducated moron. I have never been to the Alamo, but most theaters now play the courtesy screen asking people not to talk or text during the movie. I guess she was too busy texting to see the screen. Anyone with a ounce of brain matter will realize that a phone screen is distracting in a dark theater. But I guess she had to keep the phone ready for her pimp to reach her, because she sure does talk like a hooker.

Ban her in all theaters in Texas!

  • what the fuck is wrong with you guys. texting isnt bothering other people. i agree you shouldnt much but if someone is texting you asking for a reply. my priorities suggest that a reply is more important.

i cant se how a tiny light can distract from that massive light that is on the wall.

its bad mannors yes but logicality will always trump manners.

it annoys me when my friends do it because thats only cos i want them to share my love of the film

  • @realMUSICisMUSE Your priorities are CLEARLY messed up. So, YOU are the most important person in the theater? The rules don't apply to you? You're better than everyone else? Fuck you!

The logicality of the situation is, LEAVE if you don't like the rules that the rest of us choose to follow because of at least a modicum of common sense and respect for the people around us. "Freedom" does not mean you get to do whatever the fuck you want without regard for how that impacts the people around you!

  • if that happened to me, id be pissed off too, nonetheless, i love that commercial

  • Fuck yeah. This is why I don't go to the movies anymore. Netflix is cheaper and you don't have to deal with a room full of obnoxious assholes.

  • Well said.. I hate what cell phones have done to our culture. This applies to concerts also. What is so damn important?

  • Comment removed

  • What a stupid bitch

I'll be honest, I can't fuckin' stand it when I'm at the movies and people in front of me keep pulling out their phones. It is really distracting and annoying. Did we or did we not pay to watch a movie. If a person wants to talk/text have the decency to go in the lobby or just go home.

  • this sounds like jill pike.

  • Magnited SHOULD be a word!

  • The Magnited States of America!

    What a cunt.

  • My favorite part is how she says that she was only using the phone as a flashlight, then, about one sentence later, admits she was texting.

  • 'All right?'

  • I see this similar problem in my Highschool.

People are allowed to do things in one class and then when someone tries to do the same thing in a class where their not allowed to do whatever they do. they think that they can do whatever they want because one person allows them to do it under a certain situation.

  • People like that should be sterilized! Simple as that.

  • I wish more theaters would kick people out for texting and using their phones. It's so distracting.

  • That woman sounds drunk.

  • Anybody else notice the spelt theatre wrong throughout the display of what she was saying, they spelt it "theaters".But even with that grammatical error this makes me so happy as an avid movie goer that these people are finally being punished for ruining everyone else's experience.

  • @ThomAitken7 Actually that spelling is correct. In the USA the spellings are pretty interchangable but when referring to movie theaters it's usually spelled "er".

  • @MaryJesusJoseph Ah right that's interesting but seeing as I'm British I still retain that I'm right ;D

  • I love all the angry comments from people who have been kicked out of a theater.

They always start, "So I was in the middle of a movie, talking loudly, having a cell phone conversation, and then followed it up with a lighted text, while I was kicking the shit out of the seat in front of me, when some ASSHOLE told on me and got me kicked out! How RUDE!"

    Oh the irony.

  • @BUCEnGAR i know, "All i was doing was acting like a loud, spoiled moron and people started treating me like a loud spoiled moron!,WTF?!"

    lol

  • If I'm watching a movie and its bad, I'll just start reading the newspaper on my phone. Fuck everyone else

  • @2605400 You're the narcissistic entitled douche they're talking about then. If you don't like a movie, walk the hell out and let those who enjoy it stay.

  • I recently went to the Alamo Drafthouse.. and some grown-ass man decided to tell on me and my friends for talking... BEFORE the movie even started!!! people are twats

  • Comment removed

  • I don't see what's wrong with texting in a theatre.

  • @TheMangoDeluxe the light from your phone can become a distraction.. especially to the people sitting behind you... ive done it before.. and then when i saw other people do it.. i realized how annoying it becomes.. because all i do is think "whats that light over there?"

  • @TheMangoDeluxe Then you are a narcissistic asshole. You think no one else can see the light from your phone? People like you suck!

  • @RockRadioJock Its a sad indictment upon humanity when a bit of light causes someone to think their entire movie experience was ruined. Just chillax brosef!

  • A) i was using my phone as a flashlight

    B) I wasn't aware i wasn't supposed to be texting

...honey you're apparently not smart enough to remember your own lie for more than a sentence.

Also pet peeve of mine "The world is out to get me, you get your jollies of making me feel bad" no, bad things like this happen, its not someone purposefully doing it to you, you get 3 red lights in a row god isn't trying to smite you its just what happens.

  • I don't see what all the fuss is about. She texted. Not a big deal. It's not like she was drunk and disorderly or anything. The theater treated her like she's a terrorist for a minor annoyance which could have been settled by a polite warning and on top of it all they ripped her off by not giving her a refund. No wonder she's outraged. If the state had this sort of zero tolerance policy towards its citizens, you'd cry tyranny, but since it's private property, I guess it's OK? Fucking hypocrites!

  • @Grindermetalhead They treat terrorists by escorting them off the premises? Harsh...

Tyranny? Not texting or calling for an hour and a half is not that crazay-in-mah-nazy.

You're on a veeeery slippery slope mate. Zero tolerance policy on petty issues like this is in place everywhere and it's nothing more than common sense based logic.

Wouldn't refunds make the rule pointless? Hey, if it's a shitty movie, just text and you'll get your money back!

  • @MelleB90 The point I'm trying to make is that they could have simply warned her, and she'd probably turn the damn thing off. People sometimes forget themselves and all it takes to make them realize they're doing something inappropriate are a couple of polite words, and most of the times they'll probably even apologize for it. You said it yourself, it's a petty issue, so there was no need for them to go nuclear on her ass about it.

It's like killing a mosquito with a bazooka. Total overkill.

  • @Grindermetalhead How do you know they didn't warn her first? I'm sure they did just walk up and say "You- Out!", but this idiot who is upset that they kicked her out of the theater, after she paid to see the movie, doesn't care if she ruins the movie for anyone else in the theater with her phone (yes the light from a cell phone in a dark theater is very distrating.) Why is it that she should be treated special? Anyone who wants to talk or text can go out to the lobby and it won't bug anyone

  • @Dahgrostabphri Polite warning should always precede the eviction in trivial and non-violent actions such as these. It is a common courtesy that in a civilized society should be extended to everyone, no matter how annoyed you are at their impoliteness.

And how come they don't care about politeness when it comes to pop-corns, and other munchies that can produce rustle and distracting noises during the movie?

It's because they make money by selling them, that's how. It's sheer hypocrisy.

  • @Grindermetalhead Yeah fair enough, I agree with you.

From my own experience, there's quite a bit of social control in a movie theater. Two people talk, a bunch of people go "sssh" and the problem's gone.

  • The most annoying thing for me is when people laugh at something that isnt funny.

  • @flake452 just because you don't get it, doesn't mean it's not funny

  • @Dahgrostabphri A middle age woman once sat behind me and laughed at the advert of Ratatouille as soon as she saw the CGI rat, for this I wanted to execute her on the spot. If there is something funny about a CGI Rat then yes I do not get it.

  • @flake452 There's a difference between having a reasonable bone to pick with someone and being completely irrational. Maybe she had fond memories of seeing the movie with her friends or family, maybe she thinks the character itself looks silly. Who cares? It's a trailer, no one is going to lose any sleep over it.

  • @eagles980 It wasnt even out at the time. She was just an Inferior life form I guess.

  • @flake452 Who are you to say what is and isn't funny? Are you God?

  • @eagles980 Yes I am God.

  • I HATE people who stand up during the credits and DON'T LEAVE.

If the credits are still rolling, the movie is not over.

  • I feel like donating $100 to the Alamo Drafthouse because they are my personal heroes

  • well at least she was educated enough to rant.... instead of just saying random curses and swears

  • I like these movie story's

  • After seeing this, I would not go to any other theater than Alamo Drafthouse. This is the most effective commercial I've ever seen.

  • I don't get these people :/ I feel terrible if my phone goes off by accident because I forgot to turn it off. Also, like these guys said, its a waste of money to be on the phone in the movies. narcissism at its finest (-_-)

  • @lilkiki141

Why does your phone or anyone else's phone go off by accident? Like David Cross said, it was fine the first couple months that cellphones had been out because maybe you forgot how to use the new features of a new technology. But its been years! Most phones have a single button you can hold to make it vibrate. So if you phone "accidentally" goes off you are as big of an asshole as a texter/talker.

  • @mszunefan Like I said I "forgot to turn it off" . My old phone, which I had from 8th grade until last year , was a simple flip that had a really loud vibrate so I would usually turn it off, the two times it went off was because I put it in my purse instead of my pocket, which is where I usually had it, and where I had developed the habit of looking for it. I went and still go to the movies a lot, and this happening only twice in 5 yrs isn't exactly being an "asshole". your one for assuming.

  • publicity stunt, it's a stunt people, wise up

  • @quaxk Nah, I've heard about this place from the people at RoosterTeeth (they mention it all the time because it's a local theater for them). This is just how that place works. It's independent and apparently freakin' awesome.

Don't hate up-front and legit places like the Drafthouse. There aren't many of them left.

  • Bravo, Alamo Drafthouse! May this be the beginning of the end of Douchebaggery.

  • there already is a cinema code of conduct compiled by BBC 5 Live's Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode

  • The one solace I have is that cellphones have been found to cause damage to the brain, possibly give cancer... so all of these assholes that are constantly fucking talking on their phones in the bus/theatre/any other public place are living on borrowed time. I'll do Russian dances on your graves and take conscience effort to not spill a drop of Vodka.

  • 10 commandments for movie audiences! It was awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow...come to Canada where we don't have assholes....no, wait....yeah, we have plenty of assholes too.

  • Christy's right - too many Americans are narcissistic entitled assholes.

  • No one ever calls me, seriously - no one. I almost don't have a reason for my phone except emergencies and when I'm waiting on something important, and much more than half the time my cell phone is on silent. But it rang during 127 hours and there were only like four of us in the theatre. I know the couple there was pissed at me, luckily they didn't say anything. What do you think it turned out to be? Goddamn telemarketer! That's what fucking happens in the Magnited States of America.

  • As a Dallas native, I am impressed by Matt's knowledge of drunken Texas bitches, and he is in fact correct.

  • Mark Kermode did a cinema code of conduct. watch?v=_b_g1aRMW7Y

  • As an Austinite, I must say, hell yes Alamo! That's why we love ya!

  • I hope they do know you can turn down the brightness of your phone (which I do) when I want to text in a movie

  • This is why I pirate movies.

  • you never know if someone is really texting or not, they could be just checking the time or seeing who just called them. Nevertheless, its going to be tough for movie theaters to enforce rules regarding phones. Signs should just say, " No phone use during the movie". At the end of the day who really gives a shit, a quick flash of white light is not going to ruin my movie.

  • Matt Atchity is the man. "If you are texting in the theater.. FUCK YOU."

  • I should sneak a damn super soaker into the theater next time and blast any fuckers who use their phones

  • Haha.....SO want to take Matt to the movies with me

  • what a cunt.

  • Agreed, people are a- holes and shouldn't text in the theater.

  • i never text during a movie, but sometimes i used my phone to check the clock (especially if the movie blew~balls).. is it ok?

  • It's about movie theater etiquette and it's a fucking issue assholes on their phones, assholes having full on convos and shit fuck those people. And if your bitching about this then that person is you

  • The Magnited States of America! Wheeeeeeeeeeee

  • i hate ppl using their mobiles on the theater or people talking or even worst kids crying, but i am guilty of doing some comments like "im sure thats hans zimmer doing the score, it sounds like him" and then my girlfriend would shush me with that "you embarase me" stare.

  • FUCK TEXAS!

  • Wow... sounds like more useless non news shit that most people do not care about...

  • @ChameleonLost88 You do know this is a movie review show, right? They shouldn't be doing news at all. not that I'M complaining. If you want serious news stories, why are you subscribed to a movie review channel?

In short: Quit your your bitchin.

  • @coadynoel No, no I won't XD

  • @ChameleonLost88 This isn't a news channel.

  • @mpawsonable Ok then answer me this smart ass... Why then are they reporting news then?

  • @ChameleonLost88 What The Flick is a movie review channel and they're discussing a PSA played at a movie theatre. I'm not sure what kind of "news" you're expecting here.

  • @ChameleonLost88 P.S. you're the one who called it not news in the first place.

  • @mpawsonable What the fuck are you even talking about?

  • @ChameleonLost88 Dude. Are you trolling or what? You initially complained that this was "non news", I explained it was a movie review channel and not supposed to be news, then you said "why then are they reporting news then" I think you're the one who doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

  • @mpawsonable When I said 'non news' I meant that what they were reporting in my opinion wasn't interesting enough, or as in "Who gives a fuck". They are making too much of it, in my opinion, doesn't make me right though. When you said this is not a news channel, you're right in that I said "Why then are they reporting news" because after all, that's what they are doing. Now it is in context of "movie" news I guess, I'll give 'em that...

  • @ChameleonLost88 its entertainment not news jackass

  • @YouJussGotCurbed It's "entertainment" news. News isn't just confined to politics and things like that. But I'm not surprised you didn't know that... You just got curbed you stupid fuck XD

  • @ChameleonLost88 wtf no shit i said entertainment i said nothing about politics u put words in my mouth and it is useless thats because its a fucking funny story to have fun with not to walk away and say wow that was great news jackass and thats not even what u just got curbed means its to do with curb your enthusiasm

  • @YouJussGotCurbed Larry David is funny. Funny haha, not funny 'the other way', not that there's anything wrong with that.

  • Drafthouse rocks

  • @NCCKILLER yessir!

  • OMG a very, very important PSA.

  • Comment removed

  • have you guys seen Mark Kermode's conduct of behavior? haha its great

  • "where people are actually polite"...says the woman who shouts the f word constantly. haha

  • This is fucking brilliant. You gotta love the Drafthouse.

  • This was hilarious when I heard it on the tyt glad they played it again here.

  • FIRST!!! First time lol

  • Sup
