I agree it's a bitch to get the spring plates cleared of the step! Took a couple days and a big lever but ultimately not hard. Also to others asking, as far as I'm aware you cannot lower a bug with this method because the torsion bars in a bug are made up of leaves stacked to form a square rod rather than a splined cylindrical rod.
damn, i wish it was as easy as you make it, im trying right now and it has taken about an hour to get the springplate off the lip half way, so tomorro i will try some more....
