  • Tying off is always a very delicate procedure, but is always the first thing you should learn if you wish to become a master of the needle. Second most important is learning how to hit the vein!

  • Oh the years I've wasted tying loop knots to end off my sewing. Neither did I know you could sew with a single thread. How sheltered I've been. Thanks!

  • I'm doing it exactly as shown but my knots keeps untieing when I trim the end off.

  • @L1amX try tying the knots tighter and try not to cut the string as close to the knot

  • I love moms... (so helpful)

  • this was the most helpful sewing vid Ive seen. (never sewn before, just sewn my holey gloves and PJs successfully)

  • surprising

  • Such a rebel and an individualist sewing double all the time. It's like she's even encouraging others to do so.

The answer must lie in the experience of a person's childhood which makes them develop that tendency.

Very much a taunt to those in the lower socioeconomic groups and disadvanted circumstances who don't have the luxury of thicker thread and bulk expendable quantities which naturally feed the doubling style and habit.

    Useful.

  • this post made me lol HARD.

  • @daveyork0

    What a bitch.

  • @daveyork0 Are you being sarcastic, or no? lol I can't tell.

But I do like your comment, weather it was sarcastic or not

  • You're a gem, love.

  • Thanks so much for these videos!

  • That's great. I always secured the last stitch not securely enough, now I know how to do it properly.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for your helpful helpful videos! You have made my current project a lot easier. Bisous.

  • I have never tie my ends together. What I do is you hide it in between the layers of fabric, and leave it about 1 inch long inside, and back stitch same place 2 or 3 times. The knot can be very easily go thru where the needle went thru and not secure enough.

Also Always sew with 1 thread. 2 thread tends to make a mess, and if u do have a mess, 1 thread allows you to simply rethread ur needle.

This is just my personal experience

  • an unusual way to tie off. I've never learned it like that before. I've always had trouble with the other way, so I'll definitely try this out. Great vid!

  • I love your videos so much! You show the simple details that beginners really need to see. Can you please show how to close a pillow? Thanks a million!

  • THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO SEE!!!!!! I learned to do this when I was in Elementary school as a boy, and now 30 some years later, I really needed to hand stitch something.. and THIS is how I wanted to see it done again after 30 years~!!! Now,, can you come here and show it to me LIVE? he he he. I am serious, I am scared to do it on my brand new ripped dust mite / allergy mattress cover repair ~! It was like $100. :-(
