  • wow what a beautiful voice! nice Maori ! are you part Maori??

  • @Howick4life nope, I'm not Maori, not even a little bit. :)

  • the best verson i have heard. so beautiful :D

  • Very good

  • CHUR GIRL.. NEAT ALL RIGHT!! ALL U OTHER MAORI CUZZYS JUST NEED TO CHILL UR FAT ASSZ.. THE GIRL CAN SING AND SHE SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL!!

  • E koro, e tino ātāhua i tou reo kia waiatatia tēnei wai.

  • gorgeous!

  • you made this maori boi love his culture even more listeing to you.

    tino ataahua wahine ma.

    beautiful girl.

    peace

  • you have good pronounciation. Its just your Ts should sould more like Ds :)

But your actually a pretty good singer

  • beautiful voice :)

  • awesum!!! up da haters :) u go girl

  • awsome pronounciation.. :)

  • its not famouse i dnt even know it :P

  • nice pronounciation girl. just one thing, the original composition is Pokarekare Ana nga wai o WAIAPU ... and not ROTORUA. overall performance 95%

  • @maoriinc4lyf Its true the original composition has 'Waiapu' however a lot of others (maori included) know the version she is singing, it doesnt make it right, but it doesnt mean she is wrong either. I have heard both versions and also had a few debates with my whanau...... We should be happy to see someone of european descent singing our waiata and enjoying it, not bringing her down with only the negative.

  • @kelzpei he writ this version but it can be disputed where it was originated from for example in Te Arawa its nga wai o Rotorua and the song represented Hinemoa swimming to her loved one Tutanekai on Mokoia island. The thing with Maori is we copy each other's stuff alot such as utaina mai and Toia mai haka pohiri (powhiri) that we forget where it really originated from. All our arguments are biased towards our iwi being the authors but we will probably never agree to who composed it first

  • Very nice. Well done. You have a beautiful voice.

  • some maoris are white you idiottt.

  • Kaua e whakarereke i te waiata hei whiti ki a koe ki a Rotorua he waiata ke no Waiapu -.- He waiata rongonui hoki. Engari, he reo ataahua na.

  • Anyone can sing that song. Ka pai e hoa, tino ataahua.

  • Kiaora kia koe e te wahine tauiwi. Engari ko tenei na he waiata mo nga tane maori rauako nga wahine maori. Hoi ano he pai rawa to waiata ke tanga o tenei rawe waiata. Just stated and said hello to you there girl. Even tho this is a song for maori men and females you did a good rendition of it. Good Stuff. Oh and i would also state that the english way was forced upon us if you know your Aotearoa heritage. Good job anyway.

  • tino ataahua ehoa, your pronunciation of our language is better than pakehas and most city maoris, kia kaha

  • thank you for your nice comments :) x

  • white girls can sing it.. maori culture has been adopted and accepted by white people, just as maori people have adopted and accepted the english culture.

    BEAUTIFUL voice!

  • white girlz cant sing dat song its maori not fuckin einglish

  • lol - some of the most famous renditions of Pokarekare Ana are by 'white girlz' - Margaret Urlich is one in particular - but the song most importantly has a beautiful story and meaning behind it - and wouldn't be the same if told in English.

  • @nicholas8869

etta wotta hypocrite u turned out to be...NOOB! ur reply is in english farqen egg!

  • @nicholas8869 whats with the racism? she sings it perfect, and she's a proud kiwi n respects maori culture

  • @shahrid1987 thanks shahrid - as a multi-cultural nation we should embrace and respect the culture - especially culture that is native to our country. I did do Maori classes in primary school, and learnt several kids songs (you know like the colours song, Turanga E and 'run rabbit'), as well as the national anthem in both languages of course. it's quite surprising how over the years the culture has been lost, and how many kiwi's today don't know our National Anthem in Maori.

  • @nicholas8869

"White girlz" can sing this song. There is no restriction on what nationality/race/skin colour of people who can sing this song. Im Samoan and ive sung this song many times before at family gatherings. So dont tell this girl that shes not meant to be singing this song. Anyway, you have a beautiful voice!

  • @FobDee thank you :) it's a beautiful song I've loved since I was a kid - glad you like this song too!

  • great voice girl!

  • sorry i stuffed up and did not notice approval was needed. i thought my computer was playing up so i clicked the post button a few times

  • don't worry about it! I just have it set that way so I can make sure I read everyone's comments (and answer questions if asked)! :) bjenz

  • good job. you stayed in tune ngā wai o Rotorua is a popular tourist variation.

The original 1914 Northland version was Ngā wai o Hoki-anga.

Ngā wai o Wai-apu is Tomoana's 1917 East Coast variant.

  • Ka Pai, tino ataahua!!

  • you have an amazing voice!

I sung this song when i was like 6 in choir at primary school!

  • This song is to man and women... Not for orchestra and 100 singers. It`s right! Song of love is not for thousands.

  • that was awesome!

but yu pronounced the second line wrong.

but it was algood yu said it how you read it.

    anyway that was awesomely beautiful!

  • the 2nd line can change depending where you're from - I've always known the rotorua one though hehe. it's over the waters of [the place]

  • Yeah thats the Line that i learnt as well,

their is Pokarekare ana Nga wai o Rotorua. or Ngai wai a waiapu

  • Beautiful. Well done!
