  • I was looking for their song which they played on Conan but didn't know the title. Somehow searching for 'Ray La Montagne and Pariah Dogs Conan' led me here, tho it's not in the tags nor the description! :D Thanks!

  • love music like this... love my guys like Preston Reed, Richard Smith, Leo Kottke, ed gerhard.... new west guitar.... awesome.

  • Anyone hear Neil Young, Old Man?

  • @steeltilldeath I do, also fire and rain James Taylor, especially in the intro. Good influences if you ask me!

  • @liberatedanimal Youre right

  • I wrote about this song and other songs about home on my blog, see h t t p : // notnicolajames . wordpress . com

  • Am at a loos for words every time I hear his music. This man has a gift

  • @cathrasher1974 I loose my words as well. This man IS a gift.

  • Never thought I'd discover this in a CVS pharmacy. Thanks to the Soundhound app for telling me who the artist is.

    Beautifully simple.

  • OMG!!!! If you have not seen Ray Lamontagne in concert....IT IS A MUST!!!!!!!! HE IS THE GREATEST!!!! I had crazy back pain from an injury just days before but still enjoyed him to the fullest! THANK YOU RAY!!!! LOVE YOUR VOICE :)

  • oh lawdy what a beard! Love this man

  • 5 people need to be given a "live appreciation lesson" as in the movie saw.

  • is this tuned down a whole step or something? Looks like he's starting w/ open D, but that ain't what's coming out.

  • @lonewolf1234512345 just tune down, it's there somwhere

  • @lonewolf1234512345 yea lonewold he tuned down a hole step

  • Well, at first I thought it was almost a rip off of Neil Young actually but his voice sets it apart. Really its pretty standard chords I guess but its more than that, the little hooks are very similiar. Going to see Ray in Edmonton this August and it should be great!

  • i was a friend of ray when we were both kids. I remmember he loved legos, and ray charles. Our family from tennessee are happy to see him successful. he was meant to be a great singer. Congrats! Ray! we love you from nashville tn.

  • @bassplayinpug

    Is Ray French, or Italian?

  • @noelle2344 from what I understand, he's from Maine.

  • I don't understand why he doesn't sing the high notes

  • @SammySaysSo dont get me wrong I like the vid and I love the band - but you kno the original recording, he sings - can I come HOOOOOME for the summer, get back to LOOOOOOOVIN eachother - those words I wrote in capitals are sang at a much higher note than what he sang here live

  • @foremmahamilton Ahh i see. guess he might have been "singing smart" and didn't want to push himself that night. Good ear, hamilton.

  • @foremmahamilton I think that's called variation. People do that. And he has the right to, I mean come on, he wrote it. Haha

  • Seems he's speaking to so many of us...Thanks Ray and the band..can't wait to see you in Phx!!!!

  • BG - I wish you could come home for the summer...

J'adore et je découvre tout simplement

  • Beautiful song; awesome video; fantastic lyrics; exciting band - wow!!! They have it all - plus a nice overtone of Neil Young inspiration which is not a bad thing!!

  • a teacher's anthem!

  • Jaime ca en tabarnak

  • Old man by Neil young !!! Ray Lamontagne knows how to get it back !

  • I really love this song. Man but when I first heard it I thought it was a chick. The voice was so sweet it reminded me of joanie mitchell (how bizarre is that lol) got to get this cd.

  • It sounds like the intro of out on the weekend by NEIL YOUNG

  • Ray would've fit in perfectly singing this beautiful song around a campfire after a hard day traveling west on the oregon trail!

  • intro sounds a lot like old man by neil young

  • Thank's for this awesome song..I am going to practice it today :- )

  • Old Man

  • Thanks for posting this video and fulfilling my craving for meaningful lyrics coupled with beautiful music. It's so hard to hear stuff like this on the radio these days.

  • Cannot wait to see them in June!

  • Love, Love, Love.

  • agree about the quality of mainstream music.. ..it seems some of the best music is heard in smaller venues....

  • excellent....also Kelly Joe Phelps , Stephen Stills ( Tree Top Flyer etc. ) thanks for post

  • I cannot tell you how much I love Ray L.! I listened to him for 5 weeks straight while I was recently in Thailand and couldn't get enough.

  • Hang in there bud. Move to a city with an appetite for great music like this - NY, Seattle, Austin - go to shows, and you'll find like-minded folk. There are young people who love music like this. I'm one of them

  • I wish I knew Ray

  • Grab the audio from this vid at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • i dont understand why people hear a song they like and compare it to music they dont like, e.g. this is better than rap. "this is a great song" will suffice : )

  • this is a beautiful slant on the blues

  • I really love Ray and the Pariah Dogs. The band is very Neil Young-ish sounding. Minus Ray's voice of course. Great track!

  • @ashmore2323 thats a great comparison. nice ear

  • Ray is the most amazing man ever!!!! I had the privilege of seeing him live once and nearly died throughout the performance. I am waiting paitently (or not) for this CD to arrive via UPS. :-D

  • Great voice!

  • that steel guitarrin' is bad a**

  • This is as awsome as Dylan and the Band what a voice!

  • i saw ray et al in austin in november. amazing. but i love music of all genres. going to see gaga again in august. i think it's ok to expand your pallette.

  • This song is out-standing. And guys, there's a lot of good music nowadays too, besides all the electronichiphop-crap. Lamontagne, and a lot of others, are proving that.

  • slower tempo than the album. such a different feeling

  • DeerHunter2100 you are so right. I'm a young college kid, and I hate the music the majority of my peers loves, ya know, the general pop that's out there. All this commercialized money-scheming disposable music- It's not my thing, but damn. Guys like Ray, Cory Chisel, Glen Hansard, playing and singing to expose their souls; now THAT"S music. I love this, there's hope left for music!

  • @MrFramesfan Amen to that. I think we've created such a packaged cultural mindset that young people - not all, but a lot - really believe American Idol, Lady Gaga, etc., is real music and have never discovered what music is really about.

  • @dougrek

You're totally right. It's really sad actually, a lot of the time I feel like I was born in the wrong era...haha with so many of my peers worrying more about who's dating who, who's wearing what, or who has the best music video, and basing their opinions of music on that. It's just kind of sad. But, like you said, not all young people are like that. Maybe there's hope yet...hahaha

  • @MrFramesfan I will send you a CD. There are a lot of people that have felt the way you do for a long while now. I will send you a real CD for free; even pay for the shipping. PM me and it will be off. It is hard to find people willing to experience real music.

  • It’s really great to hear real musicians, playing real instruments…a real singer-writer-story teller without the aid of harmonizers, electronic gizmos and the lot. Excellent, something to listen to and close your eyes and listen to how the music flows and intertwines without the constant “thump thump thump” of electronic drum kits and bubble gum club music, play on Ray & Dogs.

  • I miss the long hair, plaid button downs and jeans

  • Just got this cd for my birthday. I highly recommend it!

  • great song ray keep it saw you back in the day at the gyspy tea room in downtown dallas and heard about you when KFOG in san francisco was doing live sessions every sunday morning that is the best radio station in the states

  • cant get this song out of my head:) love it deeply....he is an amazing artist..such passion
