  • ice ice baby...mix is fuckin dopeeeee~!!!!!!

  • ill give it to ean golden he is a magician but, most of the time when i watch his vids he always seems to do a whole lot of nothing......the little fuckin hand flick at the head of each beat or when he presses buttons on midi fight....the endless knob adjiustments of the highs mids lows etc does it really all make that much aof a difference

  • Ruckazoid cant take both this cats out with his C1 and quickswitch

  • is qbert scratching on B.O.S.S.?

  • @bassgeek388 yes

  • I'm really not digging this at all. Fair enough if Ean wants to lay down beats for qbert but he's waving his arms around, making jerky movements and crabbing the x fader - none of which actually seem to be having any significant effect on the music and it all seems a bit pretend. In my view the future of djing is a combination of controllers and instruments played in real time. A turntable when scratched is an instrument... a midi controller is not.

  • @jeremyelrick you're saying exactly what everyone said about turntables before scratching became well accepted. which its still only like 40% well received. its a niche thing. midi controllers UNFORTUNATELY have alot more potential than turntables have or had. sad but true dude.

  • @jeremyelrick other "musicians" call shit we like, like scratching, noise. lets not do what they do.

  • @B6Quattro I do get your point quattro and I agree that midi controllers have a huge amount of potential. I started djing on vinyl but ended up using controllers (maybe take a look at some of my vids)... I'm not against new technology and techniques I just think it's how they are used. Ean defines controllerism as "using controllers to emulate turntable techniques" which I think is hugely limiting on what they can do and after all..why not learn to scratch it sounds better and looks cooler:)

  • @B6Quattro I really don't want to sound like a hater but I just want to clarify my point:) If this video was like "controllerist produces live beats/mash ups while turntablist does his thing" I'd think it was cool. It's just all the unnecessary crabbing and body movements in an attempt to emulate a turntablist that I find let controllerism down.

  • @jeremyelrick oh totally man, i agree with the fake emulation, your point is just as valid as mine. wasn't trying to knock ya at all. And i feel you on vinyl, ive had my kontrol x1 and scratchduo for a while and i always end up cutting vinyl instead. the only thing i was arguing that a midi controller cant be an instrument (even tho it technically just isnt.) good points.

  • @jeremyelrick That is just not true. An instrument is anything that can produce either pitches sounds or percussive noises when pressed, stroked, bowed, strummed or whatnot. Saying that a MIDI controller isn't an instrument because it needs to be hooked up to a computer is like saying a turntable isn't an instrument because it needs to be hooked up to an amplifier.

Also, if you don't do controllerism, how the hell do you know if Ean's crabbing of the fader is unneccesary or not?

  • @Darwinist played - yes but from a certain set of pre stored/programmed slices of music or fx - It is not in essence to able to produce new original musixal compostions (live remixing does to a certain extent) and is hence not an instrument.

  • @jeremyelrick

If you use that definition, then a MIDI piano hooked up to a hardware sampler with a large multisample map of a piano is not an instrument either. All it does is what Traktor does basically - accept midi messages and play snippets of audio on command from a controller, any controller.

  • @Darwinist Controllersim, as it exists now, is basically an advanced form of djing..... you fundamentally cannot produce notes... only sounds.

  • @jeremyelrick in fact.... I struggle to feel that you can spontaneously alternate rythm.... im gonna try this:)

  • @jeremyelrick Because from where's I´m sitting, it's fairly obvious why he's doing it - he's using the MIDI Fighter to trigger cue points, and then cutting out of the channel using the crossfader when he doesn't want the track to play anymore, just like a turntablist does to create the rhythm of the scratch. Controllerism is it's own thing, with it's own ways of doing things and methods of improvisation, and unless you´ve looked into how it's actually done, I´d refrain from criticism.

  • Like how Eans more or less putting down a beat for Q-bert

  • ean's lacking flow, hate to say it cause I usually love what he does

  • They can't make a 11 min vid with out editing the music. It's clear this was not done in one take.

  • @device101 lol, retard

  • amazing!!

  • Ean Golden really does nothing impressive..

  • @plbenoit unless all that arm flailing and long hair is impressive.

  • Demmit X24! I feel like when we used to watch 'free' cable. Or like it's poltergeist. At least you didn't distort the sound. And, yah, I kinda get it, but argh. Otherwise, it's hella clean.

  • @blechaohana haha just keeping it retro so these HD kids know what we had to grow up with!

  • @chris24g dude if your camera growing up was that glitchy as a kid you needed a new cam...using a turntable speaks enough old school! besides its qbert nothing needs to be said. he speaks for himself.

  • @chris24g word - VHS days!

  • Qbert and Jesus!

    I SEE JESUS!

  • Controllerism + Turntableism... Fucking intense.
