I remember being at the London Studios & taking Geoff Dog for a walk & he slipped the Lead.....He ran off & Then followed me back, this song always reminds me....
"i don't wanna cry" !!! Best Powerpop Song i heard ever and believe me i heard all (near all) Let's go bring this longplayer on a perfect CD Anthology
@flonines Hi, have you got a copy yet? Don't particularly want to sell The Keys Album, but its up "in loft' doing nothing. Have you heard the album? They were such an amazing band, lyrics, vocals, harmonies etc. Why they "never made it" is beyond me. Anyway as I say, there is one upstairs doing nothing.
I saw the Keys many times - and got them to sign their album. Drummer Geoff Britton was a member of Wings for a while - he played on Junior's Farm etc
@richranger Had no idea Geoff Britton was in this band. Shame on Trouser Press Guide To New Wave Record Guide for not mentioning this tid-bit, though said guide mentions The Keys Album which is why I'm here checking out this great music!
I loved this album! I have been searching for the CD for 20 years. I want the CD or download. My vinyl is a tad worn. Any information would be appreciated.
I remember them singing this song supporting Nine Below Zero at the Victoria Palace in 1981 on the Saturday before Chas and Di's wedding. The only other option that night was Everest The Hard Way at the Marquee.
Fantastic song. Does anybody know if this band released any seven inch singles? I can´t find anything on discographies, only one full length album. Really want to find this one on 7".

@Xplosion1974 - they had six 7" singles - 'Just a camera' was first - then they had three from the album - 'One good reason' (later covered by The Big Heat) - 'I don't wanna cry' and 'Greasy money'. They then released another two - 'Suspicious' and 'Runanway' They were all common at the time (although I don't have Suspicious). I don't wanna cry was played on radio 1 a lot and I thought it was gonna be a hit. Greasy money was also played on the radio.
@NeilThompson30 Is it just me, or is this the best single ever, not to be a hit? Radio 1 played it to death in 1981. Prince Charles and Lady Di were getting married around that time, perhaps it just got 'lost' in the (excitement) !!
I remember this song being played on the radio and have looked for it for years - it is out of print or something. Doe anyone remember the b side Somebody's Listening In?
Loved this song forever....the record (!!) was given to me many years ago, but it's been scratched and played so much, I think I killed it! Oh Happy Day........my daughters' friend found it for us! Way to go Izzy!!
Been looking for this since I was 11 and radio 1 kept playing it, my big sister loved it and so did I! so glad Iv'e found it 29 years later!!! Sounds just as good today, Joe Jacksons influence is imense, brilliant stuff!
The Keys ! Kings of power pop. SO brilliant. Should not be forgotten by anyone that loves this sound. This single is by far the best pop tune of the era. You are missed !
@NewBornEll No, thank-you and the rest of The Keys for giving us I dont wanna cry. 30yrs since I first heard it, I still play it at least once a day. Its pop perfection. Thanks again.
Produced by Joe Jackson (yep, that one) to boot!
