Who is gonna pay more than their camera for a shoulder pad and a matte box that cost next to nothing to make. Lower your prices and you will realize you go from 200 customers to 20,000 customers. C'mon, who pays these absurd prices!!!!
Agree with most posters to this video....pricing is a little too rich for my blood. That said, I own a very capable gearless follow focus system from IDC photo video (called System Zero) for my 5DMkII and it works with 85-90% of Canon's EF lenses and cost less than $5 bills. It also works with other non-Canon lenses no problem. A very smart and affordable solution.
wow, overpriced!! none of this makes you a better filmmaker!! really! matteboxes and follow focuses shouldn't cost more then the camera!! a mattebox is a box that goes around the lens to help prevent glare, and really doesn't serve alot of purpose except looking cool! follow focuses are a wheel that turns a ring!! how can one be "better quality" then another??? its a freaking wheel that turns a focus ring! seriously! you advertise this for dslrs? people who can afford this could afford a red!
Why is anyone concerned with "protection" ie metal caging for a 5D!!??? You dont see "safety cages" or "impact cages" on ANY pro camera. With that line of logic I'd expect an Alexa with airbags (aftermarket of course).
YOu know guys,im not gonna spend even a dollar for that bullshit...Prices are so hight for your rigs...also i think that the price of that sould be about 100-200$...And i don't think that its so usefull...
Hey everybody! I'm a 14 year old kid who is a great photographer and I want YOU to see my photos and tell me what you think of them! I would love it if you guys would do that for me. Thank you!
With all the respect to you guys at Cinevate, this video is not a review but more of a tour and commercial. A review should be critical, but I'm shure you know that....
It's too bad they are so expensive, because something like that would be perfect for our EX-F1 pro for catching high speed video off the tripod. Due to costs I'll likely have to build one rather than get to review one like that
I really do not understand why these rigs, all rigs for that matter are so damn pricey! Its a few bars and weights ?!?! If they were made out of diamond, then okay I'd get it, but what are you playing at ? not just you most companies who make HDSLR rigs are greedy people. screw you. I'm going to make one.
Heres my review: by the time your done buying all the extra junk to hold it together and the special software that you need to convert your soap opera looking news Broadcast film you'll spend more then what you would buying a real motion picture camera! DOF is not the film look! DOF is used to introduce something into the scene, these cameras do not look like film! all these camera's will be outdated in three years, its disposable garbage!
@parravision2011 Actually, getting the film look is a product of several things; high resolution, 24p, shallow DOF, lighting technique, frame composition. 60i SD is synonymous with the soap opera/news look. The DSLRS can shoot 1080/24p with a shallow DOF. Yes you can achieve a film look convincing enough to be used in major motion pictures. Were you aware that most motion pictures now are filmed with video cameras? DSLRs are being used fro B roll and crash cams and sometimes the main cam.
@tahoeclimber I work on Hollywood productions and the only video cameras I see them using are the Panavision that record to special hard drives, I wont argue that they might use a DSLR for a tight cut away here and there but they wont use it for a big scene, The DSLR produces alot of DOF and if you watch a Hollywood movie bot every scene have blerring in the back ground. I just think for all the money you spend buying all the extra junk just buy a good pro video camera that dosent require much.
@parravision2011 I'm an IA member and occasionally work on movies and commercials. I primarily see Reds and Panasonics. I own several DSLRs and an HVX. I shoot almost everything with my DSLRs now despite some of the shortcomings simply cuz the image quality is so much better than my HVX and I can choose lenses. I own a lot of peripheral gear too, you don't have to buy Cinevate there's cheaper better options. You may like the new AG-AF100, cost too much for me though.
@iahimnafets The rig has changed a fair bit since this video but essentially, you're looking at about $2000 for the Titan Swing Away Mattebox, Proteus Cage and 30mm rails system, and shoulder system. You certainly don't need all of the rigging for every situation, and in fact, many use combinations of the gear. Steve Chase shot this amazing piece using the gear in his own unique way "Canon 5D MK 2 Drift Car Commercial with BTS" at Vimeo. Virtualy any video or DSLR camera works with the gear.
*sigh*.....there are so many show-and-tells of these rigs on youtube and the rest of the internet yet no one bothers to make a video showing the rig and footage that has been shot with it
Hey does this stuff cost 1 million dollars like the rest of the rip off companies? The camera mounts cost more than the camera and this is all static equipment, what a joke! Anybody that pays for this stuff should be shot.
Good looking kit on their site. I like their rig with shoulder mount and Uno grips but at $1195, it's just too much. You're paying for asthetics over function. There are other rigs that can do the same job for half the price. It is tempting guys but function over style any day.
Keep shopping. I'm sorry guys but your prices are ridiculous. You can get a follow focus from almost every manufacturer for less than half the price of yours. Nice stuff but completely out of the market for pricing. Also, there are so many little companies out there that make great stuff that don't have to much pride to sell it for what it is actually worth. Go on the internet and shop. A lot of 5D Mark II stuff for a lot less money.
@mikeklein888 Given that our Durus FF is being compared with the Arri units at four times the price, you won't find too many folks complaining about the price online :-) The units out there for $200 would be totally rejected by our customers, of which 95% expect our gear to perform at a professional level.
@Cinevate, You clam professional level film makers yet you are not show casing the "Red" or an "Arriflex D-21" you are showing a canon 5d. Most people who have DSLRs do not have that much money. Your clients might have professional level money but that does not mean they have professional talent. For future knowledge kicking 2,000 people who say they can buy $800 dollar or less rig is stupid. Because 10 people who can buy a $3,000 rig won't help you in this changing industry.
@samuraiking31 Couldn't agree more. DSLRs and prosumer videocamera gear is dropping in price by leaps and bounds. Meanwhile accessory manufacturers are still in the dark ages with their ridiculous prices. There's a whole segment of up and coming would-be and hobbyist cinematographers that old-school Hollywood product suppliers are completely oblivious to. Companies that can make good gear without patronizing for prices that aren't bat-shit insane are going to make a killing.
@Cinevate dude, i could probably make a follow-focus out of Lego ffs. Don't give me any of that rubbish about performance. You rip people off because your customers are production companies who can afford the ludicrous prices - what about the normal consumers?!
@Cinevate I've been an award winning pro for over 30 years and can tell you, its not what you've got, its the way that you do it. OK, your stuff may be a little more sturdy but then I've used the $200 kit very effectively. People can use your stuff but I'd like to encourage them that they don't have to. Your kit won't make them into better film makers at the end of the day - Its the ideas and scripts that are way more important.
@mikeklein888 Man I agree with you...these people are taking advantage of the DSLR movement, and they are not the only ones. Most of the stuff they are selling cost 10 times more than the camera!
Cinevate have nice looking rigs, but the price I think is too high. There's a lot of people out there, amateur and professional alike who want a strong, sturdy metal based rig but don't want pay these crazy prices. I got my rig from a small start up company who charge $135US for a full aluminium rig. If anyone's interested just message me.
Hi pleasedontspamx, can you send me information about that rig? i was thinking in buying the dslr rig from cinevate but i agree it has a crazy price!!! I would pay unless you show me something different that actually works. thanxs a lot, cheers from peru
