  • Wow! Amazing.

  • Great video that expresses the sadness of all of us who didn't get there before Katrina. Thank you, NMS, for reminding us of what we all lost during those terrible days.

  • As the writer Buffy gets the royalties for this song....yes it is a great song. Hopefully a different voice will be performing it on a new CD within the next four months or so !!!

  • It was actually Buffy that wrote this song !

  • @Graham210846

Whoever wrote the song, it's a great one; John and Buffy Stewart were wonderful songwriters, and human beings.

  • Its one of the most beautiful voice-singing comes realy from inside with an unike folk tune.Amazing!

  • @musikotherapia

John Stewart was an excellent singer/songwriter; member of the famous folk group The Kingston Trio from 1961-1967 before heading out on his own and writing over 500 songs. I would definitely check him out -- message me if you're interested! :-)

  • i live in a suburb of N.O. missippi gulf coast was seriously damaged also, numerous 100 yr. old mansions along with most of the businesses not even a slab or a trace left along beach boulevard small towns up and down the coast almost wiped off the map. this is nt to take anything away from LA. but MISS. suffering too

  • Unfortunately I never got to see New Orleans before Katrina. But even now it's a wonderful place. I really love the city.

    Great video.

I wish everyone affected by the hurricane all the best.

    Ronni,

  • i love all your videos and i pray for everyone who has suffered in new orleans.

  • Great song. Never heard it before. Nice job John. Wonderful as always.

  • My Greek respect!!!

It was one of my dreams to see New Orleans once in my life!!!

While people singing in the street!!!

I hope the future to cure the wounds!!!

    Respect!!

  • damn this makes me so homesick, i'll always be a new orleanian wherever i live

  • "We love New Orleans with a passion that borders on the pathological." -Chris Rose

  • john stewart isnt that funny in this song.

  • What do you mean funny? If you're thinking of JON Stewart from Comedy Central, this is a different John. The John singing in this song is a great folksinger who has written over 400 songs. The Stewart you're thinking about it the one that does the Daily Show on Comedy Central. Great show, by the way! Thanks for watching my video.

  • houawlins ya heard

  • I miss my old friends, especially the ones I still ain't heard from. I wish my people weren't still living in trailers. I'm tired of the ruins up and down the streets of places that just couldn't be fixed. I hate the gunshots. I hate the death. But yall better believe that I love this city and I ain't goin nowhere. WE'RE STILL HERE, AMERICA. WE'RE STILL HERE!!! Almost 3 years gone by and it feels like yesterday. Will it ever get better?

  • Um, great montage, but about 27-30 seconds in is a picture of Disneyland's New Orleans Square. What the hell?

  • Good catch! lol!

  • The Murders were up to 63 yesterday, and more shooting 2-day. It's sad what New Orleans is becoming. I live outside of the city and don't go there unless I have to.

  • Better go read the new orleans news then because crime was never this high and more people are leaving than coming back.Bad thing is the lastest thing shows it is the bussiness people leaving which will hurt the city even more.37 murders already this year not counting other crimes for a small city less than half the size of the old new orleans

  • People with a muder rate at 37 allready this year and more bussiness leaving the state New Orleans is not coming back.Even now a lot of people don`t know they will have to have flood and wind insurance on top of their regular insurance which is already sky high.

  • New orleans has always had a high murder rate, usually the highest per capita in the country. Besides, the people of New Orlenas will never let it die. Trust me on that. I lived there for 27 years.

  • I pray you're right.

  • Nobody worry. New Orleans will live again. You can't kill this place.

    Well done.

  • Thats my hometown...new orleans.Magnoila...but its coming back.

  • I WISH, NEW ORLEANS -LOVE-

  • Thank You - New Orleans native

  • awesome video

  • great.. where can i get the music? good job

  • just coming back to this song playing in the background... whoo

    thanks NMSherwin

  • I know the artist who wrote this song personally.

John Stewart was a member of The Kingston Trio from 1961-1967. After 1967, he started writing his own music. One of his most famous songs is "Daydream Believer", which was written for the Monkeys back in the 70's. This New Orleans song came from his most recent album "The Day the River Sang". John has written over 400 songs and is still writing today.

  • i miss home... and at the same time, I don't think I could take it.

  • I am sorry that you lost your home. :-(

  • Very beautiful video. It moved me as I also nover got to see New Orleans, and have always regretted it since Katrina. Thanks....

  • All of the following cities rebuilt after devestating hurricanes...Galveston, Miami, and New York and look at them Now!!! Thanks for the memories!

  • @Menopausemaniac And your point is??????

  • So glad I found this.. Or perhaps it found me.. Wonderful work.. I am so moved..
