philippine idol is the original, started in abc....di lang masyado napansin kasi sinabayan to nung unang dream academy nila yeng.... then nung 2nd season gma bought the rights of the show named it pinoy idol and claim it its the first, pero technically pangalawa lang yun..... philippine idol is much better with great judges.... :)

ABC was awarded the first franchise of the Idol show in the Philippines. It was called Philippine Idol. Later, the franchise was given to GMA last year, if I am not mistaken and the show is called Pinoy Idol.
