  • One of the best soundtracks this gen...I hope they release a sequel this year...cuz it usually takes two years to make a sequel if they've been working on it since they released the first one.

  • Beautiful...

  • Overall, I was not impressed with the soundtrack of this game. Most of it sounds like very generic orchestra, that added nothing to the game. BUT, this track is an exception. Very nice track.

  • This is kinda a remix of the Waterfall theme from Super Castlevania IV.

  • What is the song in the first menu of the game called? Can't find that beautiful piece here, am I really bad at recognizing songs or is it not on youtube?

  • @blablasak

It called "Agharta". I love it.

    v=U1Hgr9yqFSc

  • @kokogoal1987 That's indeed a great song, but it's still not the one I'm looking for... "Agharta" is played in the menu between the levels when I play, but I mean the song from the very opening menu, directly when you've popped the disc in, and the the closed book comes flying.

  • One of the few good songs in LOS.

  • Gostei muito da trilha sonora me faz pensar em muita coisa boa

  • my favorite track of the game, fills me with nostalgic emotions and a sense of incredibly beauty

  • This is the Best Theme In-Game.

Perfect and Beautiful at the same time.

  • THIS IS SO NOSTALGIC

  • This track reminds me of the The Waterfall track from Super Castlevania 4 for SNES, specifically during themes that occur from 0:01-0:28, 0:55-1:25, etc. That little high-note repeating itself. Nice track overall, and yes, a great game indeed. I'm glad they took things from Super Castlevania 4 as a whole seeing as how that's one of my favorites.

  • Because it IS the track from SC 4. The name even tells. "Waterfalls of Agharta" = The Waterfall from CV4

  • @FlameG102 No shit, Sherlock.

  • My favourite track of the game, its just haunting beautiful

  • Very beautiful music. It's not only the spanish that knows music but other countries too. We should appreciate all forms of music. Spanish, Italians, Russian, French, English, Romanian and every tye of goth music came from Europe. This is very epic and awesome and we should listen to it very carefully to appreciate it. Good job Kojima on LOD. Can't wait for NO.2:

Castlevania: Lords of Darkness 2. The Legend of the Belmonts live on!!!

  • This track explains the style of the whole game... "Destroyed beauty"

  • @hunterof7shadows true! for me its a remake of legacy of darkness or rather castlevania 64

  • Stayed there extra long. This is thee best tune in the whole game!

  • Onirique.

  • I get the same feeling from this game as Pan's Laberynth

  • This is probably my favorite music piece in a videogame right behind.....well shit who am i kidding. Kudos to whomever wrote this. You are the fucking man/woman. Thank you so much.

  • For me this is the best track in the entire game, its a good sountrack , awesome orchestrations but i preffer Michiru Yamane's compositions.

  • excelente cancion para ciertas partes del juego mismo. saludos

  • @hunterof7shadows Yes. LOL :P

  • So peaceful.. I picture a dark night in the Fall, and a bright sunny day in a nice breezy summer.. Ahh i just disappeared lol

  • me encanta esta cancion en particular es muy sutil.

  • This music reminds me of edward scissor hands 0:55

  • Respond to this video... people just dont understand. its very much like the old castlevania scenario wisw, very linear. but this was all before trevor, hector, and simons time. just not graphic wise-chronilogically.

  • And holy crap i just realized this tune was in Castlevania 4 aswell

  • my personal fav and i believe the best castlvania soundtrack...........................its so good that its hard to describe!

  • I hate typos on Youtube 'cause you can't fix them!

  • By the way, my deceased fiancée was also called María... Just imagine my face when I first played this game and knew about Gabriel's wife (Gabriel's story reminds me a lot of the classic Castlevania ones, which is GREAT and epic).

Just HONOR, DARKNESS and the noble hero fighting against that darkness.

Then mix those feeling with this beautiful soundtrack. Araujo did a fantastic work, I

loved his work for Blade of Darkness, and enjoyed this OST too. Can't wait for a second part, people.

  • @AndresDrakulAlcaide Sorry to hear about your fiancée, this is my favourite one in the whole game

  • I too love this song. But it's barely represented in the game at all. When you start the Agharta level, you basically must sit and do nothing to enjoy the music, because once you get going you get attacked and the battle music starts overshadowing it. Too bad!

Also, anyone else having that "unhandled error" issue? When I'm loading the Black Knight level, the game goes ka-shit right in the middle of the Patrick Stewart introduction. Extremely disappointing.

  • @AFluegy210 I agree with you. This track isn't heard all that well in the game. A section that has no combat for a good while is the clocktower, though. This music happens to fit that level very well, too. Great track.

  • This one can literally bring a tear to my eye.

  • HEY its from castlevania 4 !

  • awsome game with awsome music

  • If you are from Spain, be proud! You have one of the best vgm composers I've ever heard

  • @MurakamiTenshi lucky Spaniards..hrmph!! >=<

  • @MurakamiTenshi Also, I'm proud that a spanish company worked together with kojima productions.

  • Anybody up for some vampire war games?

  • I can play the piano part.

  • Am I the only one who knows this is from Super Castlevania 4? Almost came when I heard it come on in game

  • @Golzernurf no you're not. the second this hit i just sat in awe and remembered reading how CV4 was a bible to the team making LoS... i always loved how the music came on with every great scenery porn (three towers, the castle, etc...)

  • DAMNIT... that theme at 2:11 really hits the spot

  • Y did they get rid of bloody tears from every other castlevania game?

  • It requires one of the best videogame OST of all time to fit one of the best castlevanias of all time.

  • this would fit in perfectly with morrowind

  • @PTMDLBTSify rolling on floor laughing

  • @PTMDLBTSify that's racist m'kay. >:p

  • Love this music its so calming and transcendent I could listen to it endlessly and never get bored of it.

  • man this is good music

  • I like this song but the best part is the very beginning because of the single piano keys. It adds to the ambiance of finding yourself alone in the face of so many obstacles.

  • @PTMDLBTSify im a negro and i thought it was funny what you said

  • @PTMDLBTSify rofl

  • what is the name of the theme in mountain fortress( the level just after killing cornell)?

  • This is my favorite track form the game. Its so moving.

  • @PTMDLBTSify Sounds good, sent you a friend request

  • I know that Castlevania is great gaming series and that I haven't played them all but this game and its soundtrack just astounded me. I love this track, I would happily wade through hell itself just to listen to this track again

  • Word, man. many of the older vanias had a journey to the castle, and not all vanias END there either. (Dawn of Sorrow comes to mind)

  • @PTMDLBTSify Sounds like we have alot in common, Van Helsing was a good movie, Underworld films are great also lke the lost boys and the blade films, I am into most Vampire stuff but not Twilight watched the 1st 3 of that films and but thought it was all crap.

  • @PTMDLBTSify The Gary Oldman one, but I also like the Hammer horror ones with Christopher Lee. I am vampire fanatic myself and anything with Vampires and Werewolves in it interests me. To be fair I haven't played many Castlevania games but I did play Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live but I loved this game, the soundtrack is just amazing

  • Reminds me of the Bram Stokers Dracula film soundtrack , anyone else agree?

  • 4 people need to be taken out by a dark crystal demon!

  • @galti111 indeed xD

  • @Videobaschtl33 I fondly remember playing through the waterfall section of level 3 of SCIV back in 1992 and while I loved it back then, I have since come to marvel at the sombre, almost hopeless mood of the music in that bit. Both tracks, which are so similar to each other (although the LoS one is more upbeat) really convey the enormity of the task that lies before Simon and Gabriel Belmont and how in the unholy name of ass (to paraphrase the Angry Nintendo Nerd) could you NOT love this?!

  • on the 30th of march we will be playing more of this game

  • Although I do prefer the original Castlevania series by Koji Igarashi, I do hope that Hideo Kojima can put up something decent. Gabriel Belmont is a very cool character. :)

  • @PsychoticLuke Actually Igarashi didn't start making Castlevania games until after Symphony of the Night

  • @e105beta Oh. Allright. Didn't know that. Anyway, I do like them much better. IGA's games, and the CVs of old.

  • @PsychoticLuke It's true. The old NES Castlevania games seem like a lost era at this point.

  • This really is a spruced up Waterfall theme from Super Castlevania 4...

  • Beautiful.. Really makes me miss the game when i beat it. So serene.. I love this game.. I cant wait for the DLC and LoS II. Its gonna be great!!! Ahh nostalgia..

  • @Kapo465 I know what you mean. After I finished LoS it's like... I really want to play more. And this music is making me miss it even more.

  • This song reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics's music, wich is AWESOME!

  • this track alone makes me want to replay this.... 0:53 - 1:37 describes the sorrow of this game greater than even an entire novel ever could.

  • this game is awesome, i don't give a damn about Gamespot or other sites hursh ranking, after all the Official XBox magazine and The official Playstation magazine give it a 9/10.

  • This song alone elicited more of an emotional response than the rest of the game did.

  • Is in this soundtrack Bloody Tears cover ? Or maybe Vampire Killer ? This themes are great and it's a pity they didn't make Bloody Tears like this ;/.

  • @delbodese, u still listen to a radio? do they still exist?...

  • Sad that music from a video game would be better than ninety percent of the stuff coming out of the radio nowadays, isn't it?

  • @Deibodese

I totally agree with you, but fortunetly we don't have to listen to the radio, when we have our fantastic, magic games like this one ;-)

  • @Deibodese You speak as if videogame music was meant to be something inferior when compared to radio music...

  • @Deibodese

Sure is. Sadly most games go for movie-like direction in music. Forgetting the memmorable melodies that play trough levels that were so great in old days.

  • @Deibodese I totally agree with you. It is rare to find a musical piece so subtle and ambient.

  • @Deibodese Nah, I just think it speaks volumes about how far video games have come, I still remember the days when people said video games was just a fad, what I wouldn't do to laugh in their faces now...

  • @Deibodese ya, game music, black veil brides, blessthefall, demon hunter, etc. the only good shit out there.

  • This makes me sentimental.

The story and the ending dosent make things much better either , lol.

  • makes me want to play Super Castlevania IV again and go to that waterfall stage, just to listen to the original, when i heard it in LOS i was like "NOOOO WAYYYY"

  • I'll probably be called emo for this, but I don't care.

Every time I hear this beautiful music it makes me want to cry because I sympathize with Gabriel quite a bit, like him I know the pain of losing someone you love and to me this music is incredibly lonely and sad.

  • @DarkSeraphim02 well said , and ur not emo , ur human !

  • @DarkSeraphim02

Don't worry, that doesn't make you emo. I feel the same way. It just means you like the music is all. :-)

  • thats not emo, thats good musical composition.

  • @DarkSeraphim02 Not 'emo' at all. You're just in touch with your emotions, man. All adults are. Hey, I cried at the ending because I knew what it was to be so close to something you want and have it taken. I felt the man's pain. And the music, man.. jeez it didn't help at all, I nearly sobbed lol

  • @DarkSeraphim02 I heard that. :<

  • @DarkSeraphim02 That's not emo dude, thats called behing human.

  • @DarkSeraphim02 Normally i'd call you an emo yeah, but i do not care because the music is just too awesome. And the way you described it is simply the way the music sounds.

  • @DarkSeraphim02 Fuck Gabriel. SImon could whip in 8 directions had some side weapons and that-was-it. Makes Simon 100 times more bad ass than any other Castlevaia protagonist.

  • @Panesthesia I take it you're one of the many people who doesn't like lords of shadow simply because it's not what you wanted it to be. You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't agree with it. It's not about who is more badass, and arguing who's better is pointless.

Castlevania is a great series, I will always love the older games, but I also look forward to the new games and how the new cannon will play out.

  • @DarkSeraphim02 Sometimes you can only relate to something once you have experienced that grief yourself. I have to admit, this music is quite breathtaking in some places.

  • @DarkSeraphim02 only idiots would call you that. i want to hear more great music like this

  • @DarkSeraphim02 you're not Emo dude it's a wonderful piece of music. I think this blows these idiots out of the water who says that videogames can't be art because this music is BETTER than half of what I hear in movies these days.

  • @TheTrueNeech instant thumbs up 4 u..

  • this is my favorite non-battle track in the game.

  • Una cancion preciosas y llena de vida, aun cuando sabemos que Agartha un lugar lleno de paz y cultura, me pregunto si seremos dignos de conocerla algun dia.

  • this fit in so fucking well with the wasteland level, right b4 u fight the silver warrior

  • Love the very subtle similarity to the CV4 waterfall music here, wish there were a few more musical references, but this is a nice start!

  • another castlevania game with outstanding music!

  • this brought back so good memories to my mind, when I arrived at this level at midnight it was like 2 am the moon was full, and I remembered the waterfalls of castlevania 4. god bless konami for this game is my game of the year along with heavy rain.

  • My favorite song from the entire game. I will forever remember where I was and what I was doing in the game when I first heard this breath taking melody, and that hasnt happened to me since Dr Wily Stage 1 in Megaman 2 or Ducktales Moon Stage! Just a great job!

  • Oh my God.. Super CastleVania IV waterfall stage music..! Videogame history beckons...

  • @TheParnak yes and in lords of sahdows is on the waterfalls level too.

  • As soon as this game's price goes low enough, I'm buying it.

  • some of the best music ive ever heard in a game. every track fit the atmosphere of each level. they all have so much emotion.

  • T_T

  • Totally agree with metachozo. I'm a composer myself and was blown away by these tracks. I didn't expect such emotional depth, such longing in an OST for a videogame. Truly beautiful pieces.

  • What critics need to realize is that with time, technology and tastes change, so naturally Castlevania is going to change with it. I loved the older Castlevanias, and I love this one as well. Yes it's very different, but I welcome the change. Too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing when you overdo it.

Oh, and I love this song ;)

  • wheres my dammed bloody bloody tears!!

or vamp killer. etc etc. soryy but this soundtrack will not be rememberes within 20 years . what? .lol 2 years. CV set very high xpectations in music. if u cant reach em . heck u better remix the classics.

  • @visbaluz 1. vampire killer is in the game 2. theres enough classic themes remixed in this game 3. you're retarded

  • @visbaluz Symphony of the Night didnt have your beloved Bloody Tears and I dont see you tearing that game apart.

While I'd be lying if I said I didnt expect more classical tunes in LOS, I'd never be as dumb as to say this game's music was crap. Its outstanding, in fact!

It still has Vampire Killer and at least 2 renditions from Super Castlevania IV (the waterfall and the courtyard theme).

  • @AlexRN Actually, the Sega Saturn version did.

  • @visbaluz Oh and before you say to me Bloody Tears was in SotN you'd be only half right. BT on SotN was only present on the japan-only Saturn version of the game which Im sure neither you or myself have ever played or will ever play (legit, of course). And not only is the game only in Japanese but it is a hands down worse product than the PS1 counterpart.

  • reminds me of the waterfall stage music in castlevania 4 really it does its almost the same but thats not a problem ;)

  • @SuperEvilduck That's because it is a version of that same song. It's awesome sauce. :)

  • Are there more tracks like these based of previous Castlevania games.?

  • @Stridus7 yes, Courtyard (same title than the original from SC4) Vampire Killer (music box version)

  • I've played all the Castlevanias and this is my new favorite - never thought I'd see one that was better than C4. But they did it... they actually did it. Such a beautiful piece of art in all aspects.

  • luv dis music ost... Amazingly brilliant and touching!!!

  • I really like the Super Castlevania 4 piece, and this has most definitely blown me away.

  • 2 people dislike waterfalls...

What a beautiful tribute to the waterfall level, this piece has that feeling where you can finally relax after a hard battle..good..piece..

  • Anyone think of the waterfall music in Castlevania 4 for SNES when they hear this? I feel that maybe the composer was doing an ode to that piece with the beginning portion.

  • 'Oh, another puzzle.. '

  • The Clock Tower

  • this song was so fitting in the Titan's Graveyard

  • @Archvile78 Agreed - this is where it really sank in for me...beautiful.

  • I almost cried at the ending of the game after u beat Satan..Why did Marie have to die D: she was nice..

  • @FlyingKidProductions

Belmonts Theme @ ending credits = Epic

  • this is indeed a beautiful piece.. i love when its right after a big fight.. the music seems to set a calm after a bloody hellish near to death fight.. great job setting the mood ..

  • beautiful...

  • I knew it!! This was actually my favorite track from Super Castlevania. This info confirms it. Sooooo cool.

  • YES! thank you so much for this vid! Been looking everywhere for this one! Waterfall from Super Castlevania 4... Ohh those memories... =) thanks

  • Amazing Soundtrack

  • this game is touching

  • I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to recognize this as the waterfalls music from CV4 =P

  • Comment removed

  • I am a drummer, guitarist, bassist, vocalist, matching band arranger, and I write music like this for guitar and such I am getting my degree for mechanical engineering b/c music dosent pay lol.......i have been a muscian sinse i was 12...im 26 now and I will say, from a professional point of view, these songs are highly emotionaly foregrounding and well written...It is better then most movies i have watched...great music guys!!!

  • @metachozo

Agreed! Music in Movies today are more synth than anything else, while I don't mind it, it's kind of sad that you don't see very many orchestral soundtracks that sound as good as this soundtrack.

  • @metachozo

Agreed there. These songs have something in them really. I listen video game musics all the time, most of them fail because they try to make them TOO MUCH ambient, this has nice balance between slow and fast pace. Even when I didn't care much of this game's controls (too unpolished), I loved the music. It fits the mood so well.

  • @metachozo I am a musician too (only drummer, pianist and a bit of guitar) but I can say that this is very well written

  • Anyone that thinks the music of CVLoS is "generic wallpaper music" needs to get thier ears checked. These are some of the best tunes in the series. Sure, they're not as "In your face" as the older themes were but you can hear many classic melodies in this OST, incuding Waterfalls, Vampire Killer, and the title theme to CV-3 (NES)

  • Comment removed

  • @CaTspire never mind...I am sick and my ears are a bit clamed...its all here in this one song...I like it XD Cant wait for the next game

  • @CaTspire

Which song has the CV3 title theme in it?

  • @e105beta

Saddly, it's one of the tunes that plays in the world map selection screen and is not on the OST. There are about 3 or 4 tunes that rotate between each stage. You can find it there.

  • Are you guys tone deaf? The strings are also playing some melody from The Waterfalls from Super CV4.

  • @nllus yes i immediately thought of the waterfall stage from CV4

  • @nllus Im glad i wasn't the only one that noticed that :)

  • @nllus OMG IT IS!!! I didnt notice it till now lol thanks for that : )

  • @nllus I hear that too. Anyone who says Lords of Shadow doesn't use any music from the older Castlevania games hasn't been paying attention.

  • @nllus You hear it too huh?

  • @nllus you are completely right, i was on that game the other day and noticed it and came on here to check, i was gonna check on LoS but i lent it out to a friend so he could too enjoy the master piece

  • love this song, is so calm and epic at da same time

  • Playing this over the the Waterfall track is actually really cool. All the notes really fall together. Impressive, really.

  • The Waterfall track from CV4, I mean.
