  • If it's from the air intake, there might be something in it. But if not it might be your idler

  • hmm that sucks i had an 00 frontier with a CAI and it never made this sound. and i didn't pay 2-300 for it. i miss my truck :((

  • Yeah don't worry about that sound! It's perfectly normal with that intake. Myself and others have the exact same one and it does the exact same thing.

As others said it's just sucking in more air because it's more open as opposed to the stock being inside that stupid box!

    Cheers

  • uhhhh i have the same intake on my frontier, thats just the intake sucking in more air than the stock box style filter. my guess is if you don't like the sound go back to stock?

  • Thats normal, I have the same Cold air intake on my S/C Frontier. its much louder than that.

  • Oil Oil Oil, get the K&N filter cleaning products and clean in really well then oil it! It will sound brand new

  • its the sound of it working. its an intake. when its at idle, the throttle is closed, and the air has to go between the throttle body and the butterfly. compare it to the air chuck on a compressor. bigger hole, less noise. small hole, more noise.

  • i have the same sound on my 2004 xterra

  • it doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere else but the filter itself. I would say its just breathing very very well and its pretty much whistling. what I would do if I were you is take wd40 and spray the filter. don't soak it but just get it coated. put it back and let the filter dry a little and later turn on your car. wd40 won't hurt the filter, it does the same thing the in oil does. try it out

  • your fucked. I would just Burn that shitty car of yours.

  • Looks like the same K&N filter I have on my Spectra, it makes the same noise only in the morning when I first start it or Darth Vader is stuck in your throttle body!!!

  • you could get a bigger filter.

  • i have the same: 00 xterra SE 4x4 w/ the same k&n kit you have and i was also suprized to hear that when i was done. but there is nothing you can do about it cold air intake kits pull in so much air you can really hear it pulling in. try to think of it as the sound of power.

  • It's the idler pully.

  • The sound is normal :-) it's pulling in air like it should..The more air and the colder the more hp you ride makes :-)

  • thats a good thing, u want the air sucking in

  • its working its sucking air dude

  • thats the engine sucking in air result of putting the k&N filter nothing weird about it

  • what year is your xterra?

  • @mir2fast4u Xterra 2000 V6 3.3L SE 4X2, thank you
