  • Sorry but Johann S. Bach died in 1750 and was born in 1685.

  • @odsu169

That's right, but this motet is not by Johann Sebastian. It is attributed to Johann Bach, who was a brother of Sebastian's grandfather.

  • @stigekalder

yes, sorry, I thought - because of not reading properly - about the cantata BWV 21 "Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis". The motet is part of it.

  • @odsu169

You are right that the following text (Psalm 116,7) appears in both works:

"Sei nun wieder zufrieden, meine Seele, denn der Herr tut dir Guts."

    Best wishes, Niels

  • I was a member of the Collegium Vocale at that time, back in 1982. Singing under Philippe Herreweghe was a joy I will never forget!

  • @jos1verpoorten Ik ken deze CD sinds eind de jaren 80, prachtig, jullie zijn fantastisch. Prachtig.

It must certainly have been a great time !

I've just heard Collegium Vocale perform the B minor mass in London,

which of course was a great experience.

The 'great' Peter (Kooij) was also there. Was recorded by BBC.

    Best wishes, Niels
