  • MR Jaco Pastorius has got to be the REASON why todays bass player STILL has someone to look up to..to emulate, but NEVER EQUAL...respectfully.. he is my bass Jesus.. my axe Allah..our 4 string father in heaven.. been playing for over 20 years, will have to play for another 20 years to earn tone and groove near Jaco`s benchmark jam...his mould was broken and thrown away...pity..

  • What a huge waste of a truly talented human being was Jaco's untimely death! Rest in peace Jaco! I pray God have mercy on all of our souls!

  • His loop almost sounds like the one he used to play in Offenbach at 1978. Unfortunately I was born ten years too late to see him performing there :( Nevertheless, great tune from one of the greatest bass players :-)

  • Jaco can rocko!!!!

  • GREAT GROOVE it's amazing what he could do with a such simple structure, A GENIUS!!!

  • Most skilled and gifted bassist of all time. On the same level as Charlie Mingus. Tnx for the upload.

  • @MrShuggieTodd

You're welcome. And I agree with the Mingus comparison. Thanks for commenting bro.

  • Thanks Jaco, you 're THE BASSMAN

  • This is one of the better recordings of this genius. Thanks for putting it out there for us.

  • @OpiumKoolaid

You're welcome. Your comment is much appreciated.

  • Jaco was to the electric Bass what Hendrix was to the electric guitar.

  • @Easleytee

Agreed. They were both major innovators on their respective instruments. Thanks for commenting.

  • The first bass line Jaco plays is from 'Sing A Simple Song' by Sly and the Family Stone.

  • @JoeSzilagy

Yes indeed. Thanks for your comment.

  • MY HERO thanks for share'n the gift

  • @jrayortiz1

    You're welcome.

  • Just imagine actually being there! Intense shit!

  • I saw him do this same piece at the Hollywood Bowl in the early 80's. That was one memorable show.

  • What is that riff he plays in the end? I've heard it before but can't get it together. It is awesome anyhow!!

  • @andreg81 So have i - maybe a funk song, funkadelic, the meters or kool and the gang maybe? Or motown

  • @andreg81 The riff at the end is from a Buddy Miles song called "Them Changes". Buddy also recorded a live version when he was in Band of Gypsys with Jimi Hendrix.

  • where was this recorded? JACO RULES!

  • @aphex0

It was recorded at Berkeley community theater in California, on November the 26th in 1978. Thanks for commenting bro.

    I agree completely.

  • Fantastic as always. I'd like to go see his son Felix play in New York, he plays at the Zinc Bar every Monday at 9:00 pm for all the next month. An opportunity to not let go!

    JACO FOREVER!!!
