@BrittanyNY09, I have this problem and had braces in high school. Like someone else mentioned, the orthodontist made more by doing braces but it didn't at all correct the problem. I have TMJ issues and am wondering what was involved with your surgery. I have many questions as this is something that has bothered me for many years. If you could email me with more I to about your experience, cost, recovery, results, etc. I would appreciate it. Thank you!
I have this! Well, HAD this. Just had jaw surgery 3 weeks ago because of this exact problem. I finally have an aligned jaw, straight lips, and my teeth fit together. One side of my jaw is still slightly bigger than the other (sigh) and a slight cant on my upper teeth, but I can definitely say it looks better than before. I could never walk into a mall without looking straight ahead or talk to people face to face... I was so self-conscious about it. Glad I was able to get this surgery done. :,)

@gayisrael Notice the lower jaw and how its tilted, having this kind of bite cause huge TMJ problems because the joint isn't working like it should and is straining the muscles holding it in place. This will cause a lot of pain in the jaw area and will inevitably result in migraines. Most orthodontists don't treat these cases but just straighten teeth because its more lucrative. I'm lucky enough to work for an orthodontist who does. I mount the models so he can see the severity of each case.
I have this bite problem and none of the orthodontists I talked to seem to see it or know how to correct it. How would you correct this bite? This bite is causing me tmj pains. I really would like to get this bite problem corrected. Could you please help me?
@ummamom You would probably have to get it corrected through a combination of orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery, ie realigning the upper and lower jaws. Hope this helps :)
@ummamom Where do you live? I'll find one for you. You need a "Roth WIlliams Orthodontist". Surgery could be avoided. I work for one, my job is to mount every patients models to see the severity of this, everyone has it to some degree. You will need braces and probably a splint, its basically a calculated night guard. Message me so I can help you!
