Eastman & Laird based the personalities of the original black and white comic turtles on X-Men characters. Leo's personality is actualy based on Cycops and Raph's on Wolverine.
If yah ask me Leo said "I'm better than you" because its just been a bottled up feeling for a while and suddenly it just popped up after raph got him a little mentally pushed. Just my opinion though.

I believe their both equal fighters...unless its a contest of brute strength, which Raph as more of, which was proven when he snapped Leo's Katanas in half with his Sais.

I think they are actually pretty equal fighters, but Raph had the intention of actually harmimg Leo where as Leo only wanted to prove himself. I don't know who would win in a fight if say they both got hypnotized to actually wanna kill each other.
Dude, did we watch the same fight? They were equal, until Raph came at Leo with the intent to kill him! That's what got Raph so shocked at himself; he relized his temper really WAS destructive!
I totally agree with ya there. :) Raph is an amazing fighter but when it comes to skill Leo is better. It was Raph's intent to do serious harm that helped him win. Even though Leo was angry he didn't really want to hurt Raph. Heck he could have hurt him when his sword breezed by Raph's face!
Ehhh... Leo's the better leader for now, but Raph could be a fine co-leader if/when he lets his temper meter down. Splinter even says he has good leadership qualities too, but Leo has the humility Raph doesn't have. Raph is more POed than usual in this movie, but he is the better fighter. Seriously. He fights well all through this movie... the most awesome Turtle to behold! <3
