I tryin to install FMCB. i can get to the cogswap screen, but what disc do i use at the cogswap screen to get to the next screen? Do i use the ulaunch.elf disc that i burnt, or do i use the swap trick like i used to get to the cogswap screen? I mean do i put the original game back in and swap it for the ulaunch disc

a Comment for all those who are having trouble swapping i thought about this today some of you may not have hard modded your ps2 so the disk continues to spin even if you open the tray this could very well be the source of your problems look up a guide for how to do so there are plenty for every model of ps2

@smallbus32 the answer is simple no you have to have a mod of some kind wether its swapmagic or FMCB or a modchip number 2 downloading disk images of games you do not own is illegal and i do not condone it

@supercaraged the toc size for step 5 should be changed to 58160 so you can replace the file with the cogswap file then rename the cogswap file thats in the pack you downloaded to SLUS_XXXXX the go back to apache and highlight SLUS file and click on iso tools and click on update file and search for the cogswap file that you renamed and choose it it should replace the file and then burn the iso file of your game to disc using the slowest speed

@superb2be spamming rude comments is never a good way to get noticed with that being said your lucky i cant deny someone that wants/needs my help to the first question of yours the main thing you want on the flash drive is everything on the Noobie Package folder this is used to install freemcboot as far as when to swap and what games work i dont have a full list of games there are a few someone commented me on my channel the swap happens when the laser is at the top swap to the cogswap

@superb2be when the laser is at the bottom the original need to be in the idea behind this is to fool your ps2 into thinking its an original disk the whole time thus allowing cogswap to load also ive heard that ulaunch works sometimes instead of cogswap for this however that is not true on my ps2 also high toc games work the best

@superb2be if you know another way to launch freemcboot no but this i had to myself as far as your problems loading goes theres is only so much i can help with i can tell you this so far as i know there are 4 reason it may not work

1. your timing is off

2. you created the cogswap/ulaunch disk wrong you can use ether i have had report of the ulaunch working when the cogswap did not

3. it may not work with the game youve choosen

i'm using ncaa 2004 . i get to the purple cog swap screen then i'm lost. i put the second copy in with ulaunch elf hit x and it go's straight to a black screen . you say the ulaunch elf s in the original pressed ps2 game . dose this mean i need to load the original from the purple cog swap screen then swap it with the ulaunch elf ? thanks !

@jeff4331 You need to download ulaunchELF V.4.11 and Memento disc patcher program . inside the ulaunch elf folder .there's a file called uncompressed boot elf .rename it SLUS_207.19 then right click on it. and go to properties . this is were you get you'r toc size .use the top size number in bytes 869,464 not the size on disk number. Open apache change the toc size of SLUS .to number you just read. then update iso with the uncompressed boot you renamed. then patch ISO with memento.then burn

@jeff4331 that depends on your usb drive or what ever your using . i don't mess with thumb drives because of compatibility issue's . i use a camera that takes the old sd cards not the new sd/hc cards. i got mine at the pawn shop for 8 bucks. it will work on xbox gamecube ps2 wii ect.

@jeff4331 you have to format the usb drive to fat then paste the noobie package folder to the root of the usb drive. if it still still wont work i would try another usb drive or camera ect. you can still play your back up that you made with cog swap . as long as you patch the game with memento disk patcher or esr disk patcher .esr disk patcher works best. !

THE ATTACHED ULAUNCH FILE IS NOT CORRECT! I SPENT HOURS TRYING TO SWAP THE DISK AND GET IT TO WORK ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT ALL I HAD TO DO WAS FIND A DIFFERENT ULAUNCH.ELF FILE. IF your getting a black screen or freeze after cogswap and ulaunch doesnt load, get a different ulaunch file. ALSO, depending on the game (i used DBZ) you may need to swap the disc out a few times after, before and during the ps2 logo instead of just once, expiriment! lazer on the outside of the disk may not apply.

Thanks for this video. If anyone is having problems there's a few things I noticed. You DEFINITELY need the SLUS/SLES/SCES LBA section to be high. Like at least 950,000 ... the first ones I tried had 200~300.

Secondly, the cogswap disc didn't work for me, but I could run ulaunch straight away without it just by using the method in the video. :D

@Harlequinist i wasnt 100% sure about ether of those as i hadnt tested them except for the cogswap part aparently these 2 methods are ps2 dependant on some ps2 you will need to use cogswap as ulaunch may not work on others you may have to use ulaunch as cogswap may not work i say this because my own ps2 would not accept ulaunch even though it would accept cogswap just the opposite of Harlequinist

its up too you to know when the trigger is, demos are the best but you can use any older game, the guy i learned it from used 007 agent under fire, he rplaced the driver.elf file which loads when he chooses a driving level so no double swap necessary, just one swap at the menu or no need to make a cogswap disk and change the toc as said in this videos description

@cheyennekm1 you are correct i found this trick from 007 agent under fire trick and watching the laser move  you can use demo disks or other games games however and as far as the LBA being 1,000,000 i didnt know but is useful for others trying this method i use NCAA 2004 for mine. I might start adding working games to the description if everyone will start telling me which games worked for them

oh and another tip which will make this easier, i learned that if a game has a different .elf file you may replace that as well its easier ( example: open apache with any ps2 iso, im using jampack demo disc *older games = best* i replaced the coldwinter demo .elf file *CW.ELF* with the ulaunch.elf of course u rename it to cw.elf, so i swap the game at the menu screen and choose coldwinter demo, and boom ulaunch, you can replace .elf files to levels or credits

@TheRpluma7 IT WORKED!!!...sorta, so i can get to the cogswap screen, i used dragon ball z budukon i have to swap the disk with the original a couple times once before the ps2 logo loads and two times after, its wierd. but after cogswap opens it says ps2 disk, i press x, it says use cogswap and i put the ulaunch disk in and press X but then i just get a black screen... is there something else i can try??? again, thank you so much for putting this guide up so we can mod without buying anything.

Thank you so much bro.. For the people that it is not working for I think it's because of when you swap the discs.. I had to watch the end like 4 times.. You switch for the cogswap AFTER the PS2 logo when the laser goes away then switch back to the original when the laser comes back...
