Nope. I use a 65 pound recurve, it's the bomb for carp. Halfway back is plenty of power, but when your pumped you can go all the way back and stick em to the ground. Check out MY CARPING VIDEO:
Yeh cos it takes a law degree to aim a bow and arrow with line attached to it at a carp, get real you prick!!! FYI also am happily married with 2 children, you moron!!
Typical of you yanks, if you can't understand it then you must destroy it you fucking wankers!!!
@retnuheel73 o do you understand carp?? do they talk to you? did they ask you how your day was? hmm weird..I guess ive never tried that...dont think i ever will either must be an england thing you guys talk to your little peckers too? you dont have to cover it up by saying your "happily married" either why would you tell me that? who the fuck cares! you couldnt roll with the big boys here in minnesota anyway yeah we know what were doing here so dont bring your peta bullshit to this site fagboy!
@retnuheel73 Or maybe we understand it more than you do. Like how we understand that since it is an invasive destructive, and non native species in our waterways it needs to be removed. The carp here populate out of control, muddy the water and destroy the breeding habitats of our native fish. Do a little research on the topic and then come and talk.
great vid. im planing on going this summer but all i have is an old browning compound. what would you suggest for a modest to non-existant budget and mounting limits.
@dylaninLG Hey an old browning would work fine, adjust the draw the as close as 40 as you can, then mount an AMS retreiver reel on it. No sights, just shoot on instinct.
@dylaninLG does it have holes for sights? Like the two just right above your grip? If all else fails you can buy an old drum reel and they have some of those made to seriously just tape on.
@retnuheel73 Dont be jealous cause you dont know how to bow fish! this is the ugliest fish in our lakes only someone like you from fucking england would think thats beautiful. geez I'd hate to see what your girlfriend/boyfriend looks like now go hug a fucking tree with your tea and crumpets you fucking limpwristed faggot
@retnuheel73 Just Calm Yourself. sure maybe in england theyre not a problem. but here in the states they are invasive and do damage to our sport fish. its just another way to get out and enjoy the outdoors. so dont be hating on the states. our fish communities are different from yours and were doing our best to save them. just like im sure you would yours if one of our fishes was being a nuisance in your lakes and ponds. so everyone just back off each other and stop getting pissy over nothing.
Nice shootin guys This year was a good year for bowfishing some carp. I got a 25 pound carp at a dam in willmar, Minnesota. A pretty good place to go you can also get some big 15 pound shiners there too.
do you think you could name a few? I live in Cold Spring MN which is just a 15 minute drive from St. Cloud and me and a few buddies of mine are looking for some more spots to go shooting. Great shooting by the way

why is it automatically killin for fun just because he uses a different method to kill fish? Personally i use them as fertilizer and some people eat them so get ur facts straight
The only place I have ever bowfished is Cedar Lake in Annandale, MN. That is where my cabin is and I don't really travel to fish. Big bitches in my lake, I kill them all and either bury them or put them in one of those large industrial dumpsters if my neighbors are working on their cabins haha.
South lindstrom is over by chisago city. its right off of hwy 8 twoards wisconson. Good lake to. Theres also clear lake in Forest Lake lokes of big carp and dogfish and so many bullheads you dont know what to do with them.
If you want a lake to go bow fishing on it is lake minnetonka. I go all the time when the season is open. My freind and I will get 50+ in the boat in a three hours.
I hate busy lakes, even if there is hogs there. Try smaller ones with a lot of vegetation and I gurantee you will pull massive carp. By the way, state record carp is 55 lbs and 5 oz on Clearwater Lake in Wright County near Annandale, much less busy than Minnetonka.
Thank you, Im glad you like my video. I live in Pennsylvania actually. I visited Minnesota last summer to shoot this video. I would love to come out again to make a video with the night bowfishing that would be awesome. I bet you guys are loving it
