If you are having trouble with your remote not working. Turn off the parrot sk4000 if its not off already. Turn it on. Wait for the purple/blue light to turn off. As soon as it does press and hold the + and - buttons together until you see the purple/blue light blink.
@rakeshloi yeah, I had to receive two kits too before this worked. Their customer service sucks. I will just buy a helmet with Bluetooth in it next time.
I got my remote to work. I had to call parrot and have them walk me through the process. The book that comes in the box is printed wrong. So call parrot @ 1-877-972-7768 and they will walk you through the whole process.
I hate that you have to use the remote to change source because it almost NEVER works (see my reply to x1tekja). Also, the RDS data with radio stations *IS* available in the US. The problem is that most of them are simply broadcasting their station ID and that's it. Because the station ID is usually the same as the frequency, the voice simply repeats. For example, I select frequency 105.3 and it says "One oh five point 3" pauses, then says it again.
Unfortunately, I've been through two kits and the remote is the worst part. It usually doesn't work unless you lean toward it where you may as well be pushing buttons on the headset itself (at least then you wouldn't have to take your eyes off the road). My first one started going nuts and switching sources like crazy (when in range, of course), so I got a second and it had the same product-killing range issue.
@CZroe my remote control didn't work out of the box. Are you still having issues? I am half tempted at just buying the remote control on ebay. Did you contact Parrot for help?

It should be ok after that.

Great review. You went over a lot of the useful functions and I want to give one of these a try. The handlebar remote is what sold me.
