@JRY17 who's saying this is riding Obama's dick? This song, and the emotional outpour in 2008, were more about proudly electing a black man than his politics. And sure, some of that is about him being so slick to even pull it off. If that doesn't mean a lot to you, you're missing out on a major part of the American experience.
I'd note too that the song this samples (a Marvin Gaye tune) is more about disillusionment with politics and false promises than it is praising a leader. Intentional?

To be certain, I voted for the man because I thought he was the better of two crap options. I celebrated his victory here in Chicago in large part because he was black (don't kid yourself, half black is enough. He's been treated as a black man for his entire life thanks to that half, perception matters much more than genetics). It was a hell of moving experience.

I think a lot of us have been disappoint by President Obama, but the sentiment expressed here is one I could identify with at the time it was recorded. But it's not so much Obama's failure as ours, too many thought their responsibility ended at the ballot box. We didn't organize enough to put pressure on Obama, and the corporate interests and bureaucrats made an effort to keep him from being too populist. The left has to do more than vote democrat, it's got organize and take action.

A week or so before the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas, Barack Obama launched missile attacks in Yemen.
