The mother was found dead in the boot. The prosecution does not say she killed the mother or had anything to do with actually committing the crime but that she planned and paid for the crime. Out of the 39 capital cases her trial atty handled during his career, 20 were sentenced to death - 19 were not . That's a damn good record. Carty would not speak to him nor the second atty. She would not sign a release for her attys to obtain records. She would not give them names of people they could call on her behalf. She started speaking to her attys shortly before trial began and stopped when she saw the evidence mounting against her.
They have now posted the referred to documents in this thread o reprieve's web page for her. Since they had been uploaded elsewhere and the links disseminated throughout the internet, they are a day late and a dollar short. I'm sure reprieve knows the audience they cater to will not read them.

Before I read this I was under the impression that the only evidence against Linda Carty was the testimony of the individuals who carried out the kidnapping, but that is not so. There were other witnesses and there are her cell phone records from the night of the murder. The appeal does not seem to include a refutation of that evidence, which may be why it was turned down.

The evidence against Linda Carty is profoundly overwhelming. There are much better death row inmates to focus one's attention on than this lady, who sadly still cannot admit she did anything wrong. A real sociopath. It's a shame she is getting this level of attention from people who probably know very little about the actual case, and are just latching onto a "cause" for the sake of it.

The victim and her three day old baby were kidnapped and two other victims were beaten, duct taped, and left in the residence. The 25 year old female was hog-tied with duct tape, a bag was taped over her head, and she was placed in the trunk of a car. This victim died from suffocation.[1]

BTW, the majority of people on death row in America are not black. Blacks make up 41% of death row inmates. There is a valid argument that poor people do not receive representation as good as wealthy people, but that is based on income and economic status, not race. Carty killed a woman and stole her baby, period.
