  • Love the sight picture, the peep sight setup was something I always greatly preferred shooting an AR over the AK and SKS for, it's so much faster and easier to obtain the same if not better accuracy with, and strains the eye less due to a lack focusing issues (in my opinion) encountered with the leaf sights. The AK seems to share a lot of the pro's of the AR when you consider the vast selection of aftermarket parts available. Thanks for posting!

  • Did it decrease your MOA?

  • Great video. So i just bought the Krebs "peep sight" for my Ak. I used a flat head screw driver to depress the "spring" below the original rear sight. I cannot get the old sight out. My Ak is new so maybe its just in there super tight. Didn't want to force it& don't want to take it to a gun smith for something that should be easy. Any tips on how to remove the original rear sight?

  • @LibertyorDeath777 Ill send you a link that will solve your troubles.

  • @jetfuel545 Dude, you rock! I'll try it soon and let you know. Thank you!!

  • y u spend $70 when you can just glue a small ring to your sights?

  • @Anarki23x I spent $65, because im not ghetto.

  • @jetfuel545 then why did you buy an AK!?

  • @jetfuel545 bahahahahahahah good come back lol nice vid ive been wanting to get some peep sights for my wasr10 what size groups are you getting at 100 yards?

  • @jetfuel545 LOL! that made my day!

  • @Anarki23x dude this isn't airsoft...

  • will this sight also work with an SKS. Im really looking for an alternative to the stock iron sights.

  • @FailedDelirium That im not sure. Call Krebs and ask. Thanks for watching

  • thanks this vid was exactly what I was looking for. The rear sight for my AK gets all sorts of blurry. Perhaps this could fix the sight picture.

  • That front sight post is canted bad, a Century build AKM? My Century Yugo has a slight post cant as well.

  • @the308capital It does have a little cant to it. its a true Romanian build. Intrac MK II. It was a 97 import. Seems to shoot pretty true out to 300 for me.

  • Its Downgrade...

  • Is that front sight post home made or something? It looks like its made out of paper!

  • how much did you pay for this? i just got my sgl21 and 32 in and wanted some different sighting options. the standard leaf sight isnt quick enough for me right now and probably wont be unless i can get some serious practice in with them. thanks

  • @rcroach23 They are $65. You can buy them from krebs themselves or midwayusa sells them. Just look at your sight and buy the same on that is on your rifle 800 or 1000. Now go buy it!

  • Do u know the length of the rear sight>? I am looking at 1 for mine. Thanks!

  • Thanks for making this! I was hesitant to buy one until I could look through it and see how it looks on the gun itself. Does it feel un-natural in any way? (Like sitting too high or low?)

  • @BDChapman Your welcome. Thanks for watching. It sits just where it is suppose to. Its takes just a short time to get used to, as its mounted forward unlike traditional peep sights, but in short order it will feel like second nature. And It makes sight alignment faster and clearer. I think you will find it a great upgrade.

  • I read in SGN News that D. Fortier designed the original AK peep in this style, and Krebs changed it when he put it into production (the article was written by Fortier himself so could be talk, as including it in the article that HIS design was BETTER seems kinda cocky). Has anyone tried the peep that mounts further back?

  • im actually considering this.

  • @cultofjimjones If you want to increase both target acquisition time and accuracy its a must have. That is if we are talking between irons only.

  • @jetfuel545 oh absolutely. its good to have one just in case the batteries on my sights run out. which has happened on a range trip a couple of times. that is why i have all my dot optics mounted offset to the left or high.

imo, the only major design flaw of the ak system is the rear sight. otherwise i prefer to keep it as is.

  • nice sight i made my own, dremel to notch a half circle in the real sight then put a small piece of steel tubing and tacked it into place works great total cost nothing

  • @cbr6864 That is great you made your own. I hope it works well for you.

  • I cant shoot peeps/apetures for dick, I really need to get a peep so i can practice with it, I would love to become a better shot with a peep because of the known advantages over a ''notch''

  • @davism4a1 A little practice makes perfect. The peep on the Kalashnikov helps overcome one of its shortcomings and my opinion one of its weakest points. Thanks

  • I got one for the Arsenal SGL 31-62

Might have to order another one for my soon to arrive SGL 21-31.

  • @semiautoriflelover Outstanding, You are going to be rocking that Arsenal 5.45.

  • Love the absence of sound. Relaxing.

  • err... *feedback

  • good point... and as i expect that all engagements i may have to do with my AK would be under 100 yards then im still gonna stick with the XS... im sure the peep sight is a great sight; just goin with what fits me. anything past 100 yards i have a different rifle for. thanks for the feeback!

  • Good vid... But I don't think I like the sight... I'll go with the XS sights

  • @MrAsundstrom Thanks for watching but the two sights, XS, and Krebs serve two different purpose. The XS is a Express Set designed for close range shooting only. This set is no good for long range work. The Krebs is a peep sight and allows a more precise and clear sight picture over the original and in return yields improved accuracy capability, especially at long range. It comes down not to what looks nicer, but what your shooting will be.

  • @semiautoriflelover Check out Mojo Sights. They have peep sights for Mosin Nagants and AKs (and others).

The sights also have windage adjustments.

I just received one for my AK. I haven't had a chance to to install it and try it out yet, but it seems to be well made.

  • This sight is way better than those on the original AK sights.

  • glad you like the sight.

  • @derekgrebner87 The legend TGO! Thanks for watching. I see your are running one yourself. Krebs makes some awesome stuff

  • Any idea if this will fit on an SKS?

  • @semiautoriflelover I do believe so. And I think there are RPK style peeps avail that would work. They have windage adj. May be like mojo sight. I have to look, dont quote me on this

  • @outskool100 What? Lol

  • how do u like the pep sight over the notched sight?im also thinking of getting one for my ak but wanted someone who has used it give me there 2 cents.

  • does anyone know which peep sight works for the saiga 7.62x39 rifle?

the 800 or 1000 meter sight?

    thanks

  • @i7q Saigas use a 1000m rear that's only labeled to 300. Buy the 1000 meter sight, the 800 with throw off your BDC.

  • Hows that rear peep sight working for you? It being so far foward and with my degrading shooting eye, you think this would be a good move? I've always thought about upgrading one of my AKs with this rear sight.

  • @UrbanTiger74 It is without question the single most effective Kalashnikov upgrade I have ever used. The original U notch is about as bad as it can get for a rifle sight. Having the ability to actually see all of your target thru the peep, I can not explain how much of a benefit this is. Its not the best sight system but its the best iron you can put on a Kalashnikov.

As far as being forward the peep still works the same as any peep. And will aid in sighting for anyone.

  • @jetfuel545 How much did it run you?

  • @UrbanTiger74 $65 bills well spent.

  • i like it.

  • @semiautoriflelover Welcome, should have done so a while ago. Night and day improvement over original U notch. You can see how it gives a clear picture of the target.

  • @semiautoriflelover yeah ..they are high though, you seen the prices on those? whew

  • @Gloomshadow1 For the small price the performance gain is exponential. The single biggest improvement that can be made to the Kalashnikov.

  • @jetfuel545 dunno G2 trigger gives alot of bang for the buck...does it tighten the shot group at all?

  • @Gloomshadow1 To fix a bum trigger the G2 is a good option. This peep has made all the difference in the world. i like shooting iron sights especially at long range. The original just do not cut it. The further you shoot the more they suck, this peep however only gets better the further you shoot. Group size shrank aprox 25% at 100yd and only get tighter the further you shoot. See my 300yd AK vs AR accuracy to get an idea of what group the AK-74 will shoot at range.

  • @jetfuel545 yeah I like peeps thats all we used in the service. I didnt think a 25% reduction would happen though..worth looking into then. Id just make my own though..get a stock sight and weld a small plate to the back of it and drill the hole..what diameter is it, maybe 4mm? No, the G2 is the best fire controls Ive run across. much better than a double hook Chicom or Izmash unit..its crisp and light but still heavy enough to take into combat.

  • @Gloomshadow1 Once you try one you will see just how much improv it is. I have shot this AK out to 400 with open sights and still can get a respectable group on man size torso. I would not even expect to get hits with the original at this range.

The original Romanian Trigger in my gun was complete fail. Not worth a spit. It was just not machined right. A good representation of shit Romanian. Glade that was the only fail on this gun. Everything else is above expectations.

  • @jetfuel545 Yeagh I was telling our friend on your other video about the Ratmil Cugir 74 I de-922rd back in the 90s. It was good, mine had a good trigger though, on par with a stock colt M-16A2

  • @Gloomshadow1 Romanians can be a pleasant surprise or a horrible nightmare. The only complete fail AK I owned was a Sar 1. This piece of crap had every ill you could imagine. shit trigger canted sight sloppy gas piston looser that loose magazine well. It was my first double stack AK and it soured me to the Kalashnikov until I later purchased a Norinco straight cut Mak 90.

One problem I never solved that resulted in me selling the Sar 1 was its tendency to fail to chamber rounds.

  • @jetfuel545 I bought a Norinco AK84 back in the day, 556..one of the best AKs Ive ever owned. I guess THE best, in some ways.

  • @Gloomshadow1 I remember admiring a Norinco in 5.56 a long long time ago at one of my local shops. If I had know today what it was I would have gobbled it up.

  • @jetfuel545 the 84 was a defacto Galil..very accurate for a Kalashikov. It had a M-16A1 style flash hider and the all steel mags were though, I mean really tough. It had a standard chicom sidefolder and a bayonet..came with 7 30rd mags. The whole thing was BLUED..my only gripe was the black plastic furnature looked dull and rough and it came new from the box with scratches and pieces of fibrelass treads sticking out of a few of the edges, I could have painted them but I left it original.

  • @Gloomshadow1 im looking at a pic of one that sold on gunsamerica. That is a beautiful Kalashinkov. I would like to get the chance to fire or own one one day. This one was an underfolder. I prefer a good side folder most of the time.

  • @jetfuel545 I ended up selling the 84 off to my Company Commander (A Co. 1-327Inf 101st Airborne) who collected AKs for 750 bucks back in 94. He loved it. I bought a used Ninja ZX600 with the money bc I didnt want to be stuck in the barracks all the time..so, I guess it was worth it.

  • @Gloomshadow1 That is some serious $. Im sure I would have done the same being in your position at the time. Wonder If its still in his care.

  • @jetfuel545 I doubt it..at the time it was right after the Clinton ban, so the price skyrocketed.

  • @Gloomshadow1 That turned out to be a very good investment for you. I still feel a quality firearm is one of the best investments you can own. Ill add them to my portfolio any day

  • @Gloomshadow1 I tried several diff magazines with no cure. It was a problem that did not show itself until several hundred rounds. It almost was like the receiver bent. Not sure what it was, that problem is long gone.

  • @jetfuel545 something got bent.. bad heat-treating on the reciever I bet

  • @Gloomshadow1 Thats what i suppose as well. Had never seen that before or since.

  • @jetfuel545 yeah ...back in the early 90s when I was a youngster.. B-West recievers made in the USA..they had a bad rep for that..one of the first recievers you could get to build your kit guns. They didnt heat treat them right the holes ffor all your pins would wallow out and your fire controls would get all fucked up after a few thousand rounds..

  • @Gloomshadow1 I got some advice from a couple sources before upgrading my trigger. I had two in mind the Tapco G2, and the Arsenel. After both respected authorities pointed me to the Arsenal for strength of metal and precision I went ahead with the purchase. The only worry I had was the advertised pull weight. It seemed like it was going to be a heavy heavy trigger pull. But to my pleasant surprise the trigger was smooth clean crisp and not heavy. A great upgrade and buy.

  • @Gloomshadow1 And it is still light enough to shoot nice tight steady groups, and works great rapid fire with consistent reset and no slap.

  • @jetfuel545 hum, Im sure its good, but My G2 is good too, I dont plan to beat it to death Im sure the metal will make it. The original stuff the Commies usually used wasnt Soviet super material in any way and they got really good use out of them for decades...a G2 is the ONLY thing from TAPCO I would ever buy so far.

  • @Gloomshadow1 Absolutely, The G2 is a solid unit. Many top quality build utilize them for good reason.

  • @jetfuel545 The milspec commie stuff wasnt special in any way..thats the beauty of the AK. When I bought that Cugir it came with little jar of grease in the cleaning kit. It looked like brown earwax, I took some out and used it..It was high-temp wheel bearing grease same as they used on thier military trucks..pure genius.

  • @Gloomshadow1 Lol, O the beauty of Russian engineering.

  • @jetfuel545 well think about it..why make "TWO"? just make ONE!! fuck Pepsi, just COKE! thats how they thought..thats the simplistic beauty of Commie thinking...

    "Fuck Pepsi!...COKE!"
