  • Wow

  • I have had a crush on her since I used to watch her on Sha Na na!!! Of course she was also in my favorite Happy Days episode, where the gang goes to Chicago with the choir, and sneaks out of the hotel to go to a nightclub, where she is a cocktail waitress, and has to go back to their hotel, to get the money, to pay their tab.

  • What a spectacularly edited homage to the genius of Sondheim and the crazy talent of Ms Myers! I can't stop watching this - just to be awed again & again.

    Thanks beyond the preceding words....

  • how do they sing over the orchestra with no mics?

  • @silenthillmaster755 They have mics, they're just not in the shot.

  • I love Pam Myers! And this is just a great performance.

  • @MinervaFan Oh the treasure of You Tube. Love Company but wasn't familiar with this actress Pam Myers. My goodness what a brilliant performance. And here it is right there for all to see. Her brilliant legacy is preserved. Nice goin Pam!

  • THIS is Sondheim

  • she is gewd. :)

  • And now because of your mix, I am just focussing on the keyboards in this song.....

How brilliant Sondhiem is, Happy 80 ith!

  • she is aMAZZZING

    wowie wow

  • I had the privilege to play the role of Marta, back in 1970, locally, after playing Princess Winifred in Once Upon a Mattress, the last production of the season prior. I don't think I EVER had a more challenging role, vocally. Cudos to Pam!!!

  • hey! im in the show once upon a mattress! and pams our queen! its amazing she great!

  • freaking brilliant

  • wow.... you never even realize how big someone is... I just worked with pamela in a benefit concert of hello dolly... she played dolly and she is amazing. I feel so silly for not even realizing this before hand.

  • i like this version and the revival. the original musical was more seventies and disco influenced while the revival is very contemporary and simplistic, so i guess it depends on ones taste. but i personally enjoy both very much.

  • My Musical Theatre instructor is very good friends with Pamela and he told her that a girl in our class was doing this song and Pamela called her and left her a voicemail during class. It was so cool.

  • OMG, what happened to the big orchestras? They sound SO much better, as opposed to the Company revival recording with just one wimpy violing playing in the back.

  • The Musician Unions, that's what happened. A small production cannot afford a 25 pc orchestra anymore...in fact, even larger productions can't afford a 25 pc orchestra anymore.

  • How untrue!

Greedy producers, not the EMPLOYEES are the culprits.

  • I'm afraid it is true. There's only so much money to go around. The MU demands a minimum number of players, and that becomes effectively the maximum. Most producers are lucky to even make back 50% of the initial investment back on a small show. Trust me, as a composer/lyricist, I've seen the business end of show business. Much of a week's inflow during the show goes to rent, paying the various unions (Electrical, Music, Scenery), utilites, royalties...it goes on and on and on.

  • There are LESS musicians employed on Broadway than ever before. I have been a Broadway musician for many years. Management has done a great job of blaming the very people who are NOT being employed for their lack of employment.

The musicians are the victims here.

  • Sorry, but there are many victims here. The fact is it has become increasingly expensive to produce, and much of it is out of the control of producers. I'm a member of many unions. Arbitrary numbers are a problem. Does it make sense to pay 4 stagehands for 4 hours to do the job that one could do in one hour? No more sense than paying 15 musicians for a score for 10. There are no winners in this argument. ALL parties concerned are going to have to give somewhere if Broadway is to survive.

  • well, very unique song o.O

  • Loooooooooooooooooooove her !

    love love love !!

  • fab Fab FAB!!

  • True story, I work at a theater where Pam is performing, and as we were watching this video, she walked in and smiled pleasantly.

  • What a GREAT mix!!!

  • So so so so so much better than Angel's...

  • Tell me 'bout it!!!

But, your comment should have at least 7 "so"s.

  • Oh be nice to Angel. Seriously, would you want to follow an act like THIS!

  • @SweeneyHyde I love Desai's!!!

  • @wannabe1491 we all have a right to our opinions. een tough pam is better

  • @SweeneyHyde I love Ms.Desai. She is so talented and so lovely. BUT, this performance indeed indicates that Pamela Myers set a standard for this great Sondheim piece that cannot be surpassed. She is absolute perfection. Bless her heart. She can know for certain that she was best in this role. I wonder what she's up to today.

  • She's so great in this role. She doesn't overact the part at all, she makes it believable but still shows the spunkiness that Marta has.

  • Nobody sings this song like this anymore. I miss the big, brassy belt. Where did you go, brassy belt?

  • It started going away in the 90s, and completely went extinct when we had to start hiring reality show contestants.

  • @bijou35 "American Idol" killed it as dead as Vaudevile

  • @bijou35 The big, brassy belt is still there. What's missing are quality songs like this one for them to sing.

  • @bijou35 Up Patti LuPone's v$#%(*a

  • thats the real shit, man. Steve and Pam rule.

  • Yes, Miss Pamela Myers is quite excellent!

  • I have been on the internet since 07:00 hrs rhis morning, just listening to Sondheim stuff - best day of the year I have had! Thank yuo for this clip. This and Bernadette Peters singing Broadway Baby is by far the best tracks I have heard - but they have all good. Thank you for this clip.

  • Take a look at that pit! When was the last time you saw that many violins in a Broadway pit? It's a real shame, isn't it?

  • Well, typically in those days, especially on Columbia Records, they augmented the pit orchestra for the cast recording--most often in the string section. Beautiful sound, though.

  • Pamela is like, the definition of perfection for this song.

  • This a great song..and Pamela Myers deserves every bit of that huge applause.Thankyou.

  • What else has Pamela Myers been in?

  • I thought it was the original recording for a sec- excellent!

  • I was walking up the stairs in Penn Station yesterday, listening to this song and just started weeping. This song is as true today as it was the day it was written.

  • Beautiful account of a great number from a great show.A class!

  • Wow...what a classic clip...The best recording of this song...

  • I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this. Thank you so much!

  • She is awesome. Whatever happened to her?

  • In 2001 she played Mama Rose in Gypsy at the Tony Award winning Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park! She was amazing, so good I went back for seconds haha.

  • im doing this song for my allstate conference peice!!

  • i love the mix. The passage of time doesn't matter. Some dimming technically more than made up for by pride of ownership. Thanks so much.

  • do you have anymore of the in concert stuff?

like donna mckechnie's tick tock dance?

  • Side by Side by Side is already up. I'll try to post more clips. No promises!!
