Scary...I would be too terrified to even deploy my parachute AT 4000 FT... I live in 10th floor apartment building and I’m scared to look down from balcony...whoever does this is either brave or he doesnt care about his live or both..
yikes, almost the old "foot in reserve lines" mal eh!?
Next time if high enough try to get sort of belly down mate. I can understand the nerves that come with a cutaway when not that current, but this could have been bad.
You might consider checking the canopy first, as you had tons of time. Secondly, it's a good idea to get stable after the cut-a-way before you fire the reserve. Again, you had tons of time. You were lucky you didn't get tangled up in the reserve lines.
in regards to the comment. " let your cypres do the work for you. Your insane its there for when your not able to PULL, allowing it to do0it for you is silly.
why are y risk too much mate... usually y open at 3500ft over ground like in this video... it was line twists only = slow malfunction, so... cutaway, fix your position, that open reserve, not like in this case
looking at the video again it looks to me that you are spinning on your back this would suggest that you had twists with uneven risers making you spine and would explain why you stopped just before you chopped
I looking up before you chop is always the best option at 800 meters you will have had loads of hight to have a quick look from the speed of the spine and angle it could have just been a brake fire.
what was you jumping? My stiletto has got me into a small spine after a bad body position on deployment and did not stop till i had fired both breaks and untucked my nackers from the leg strap that i had trapped. But the best thing is that you are safe to skydive another day.
I don't know if I could bring myself to chop it without at least taking a look up. I know I wasn't under it, but that didn't look like all that bad of a spin.
why not??? the pc is spring operated. it will get away from your body. worst case is that it goes through your legs and flip on opening. that will fucking hurt.
Must have been a couple of spins, but not to the back of my neck. It was quite apparent to me that the canopy was bad, so I concentrated on the handles. As you can see the spin slows right before I released the main, so the main might have recovered after all. No way of telling now. It was "only" my second cut away, so I didnt take time to look around much ;-)

In worst case pulling on your back with camera kit on can result in a Pc or free bag being court up on your camera ( its happened )
you don't have much chose if you have some sort of RSL about when your reserve is deployed after cutting away.

Way to cutaway and end up with both of your handles! Nice! Did you find your main and freebag?
Lytwyl 2 years ago
Yes, I did find everything :-)

I never opened my reserve yet, but wasn't it a little too fast ( between releasing the main and opening the reserve ) ?
Please answer with the "answer" button directly on my comment so I get a mail when u answer ^^

Why did it stop spinning just before you chopped?

WOW! That looks scary! You are realy quick with your cutaway - did you check what was going on above you?
And please try not to pull your reserve head low on your back. You scared me!

Maybe its just the camera angle, but were you not able to look at the canopy at all?
Did you have twists up to the back of your neck?

Hi,
Just wondering how many jumps you have.
MooChooser 4 years ago
Close to 1000..... in a very long time (not many jumps per year)
teutorunner 4 years ago
How high were you when you chopped?
monkeybuttX 4 years ago
I was about 800m. There would have been time for a couple of seconds freefall after main release to make the reserve opening more stable.
teutorunner 4 years ago
Very good video because even if the image is not that sharp we can see the correct movement of releasing and opening the reserve!
