Try using certain weapons outside of vats too. A combat shotgun can kill any thing weaker than a behemoth with just one manually aimed sneak attack head shot. The reason why is when aimed manually each of the 9 pellets fired has its own critical hit chance and adds its own critical hit damage. Also this means that the combat shot gun has 9 chances for a critical hit on each shot so just 5 luck with the finesse perk will have you allmost allways scoreing a critical hit when fireing manually.

try vats on head on very long range with a hunting rifle. Chance to hit isnt very high. but sometimes u see the bullit fly and make his way to a head. thats vats on its best

does shooting legs/arms of an enemy kill them or just injure them?

if you shoot them in the leg, they cant do lunge attacks and walk slower i think, and arms sometimes makes them drop weapons i believe.

i usually aim for head, unless its faster than me, than i shoot out legs :)

if ur shot manages to blast off their arms and legs, then yeah it kills them

You can deal normal damage to them by shooting them in their legs and arms, and can still kill them. And if you do kill them, that limb usually gets ripped off.

it's a bit like a special move you get in some games, should only really be used in tricky situations, that way you keep the game more challenging
