because it wasnt the captain sailing it the captain was asleep in bed when they hit the iceburg, and they were traveling too fast to put in reverse. but if they hit iceburg head on they would have survived because of the re-enforced steel plate
So, question for any experts out there... Imagine the Titanic had been as thoroughly compartmentalized as military ships, what would've happened? Foreward boiler rooms would've flooded, but it wouldn'tve sunk... Would it've been able to move?
What I was getting more at is, if either of the two, Titanic or Brittanic, had been set up with as many fully enclosed water tight compartments as modern military ships, would either've sunk?
