people that say pageants are bad- i used to be one of them but if you sit down and watch at least2 of these "Toddlers and Tiaras" shows then you'll find that it builds people confidence and sometimes there are some cases with what you call 'bad' parents but personally now i'm a big fan of the show and love watching the guys from the show turn into a different person on stage..
@KemiKoo1 I've watched the show and what I've got is that parents use their children to live out their dreams. Parents force their child to do something they may or may not want to do and then the child is pulled away from having a normal childhood of doing things they actually want and exploring the way a normal child should. when those kids get up on stage they are acting and thats not something kids should do because it can emotionally hurt or even scar them. This is just my opinion

these kids being in these child-pageants and shows is the real bad parenting. these shows teach what? dancing half dressed in front of adults will get you money and attention? that its better to be "doll like" and made up with mass amounts of make up than it is to be natural? these pageants creative monsters. i think they were invented for the cosmetic industry to get consumers from a very early age. these shows are a way for their stage moms to live vicariously through their children.
I've made a new drinking game featuring Toddlers & Tiaras. You take a shot whenever a mom eats a potato chip, or makes her 4 year old get a spray tan, or whenever a pageant dad is an obvious closet case among other things.
pagents can actuaaly pay for kid;s college's it can make them have self confidence yes there are moms out there that are doing it for them but there are also some really GOOD pagent moms, like this one.
@ThePinkotter Really now? Do you see the inputs into these pagents? $10K dresses, acting lessons, travel, lodging, cosmetics, etc? That money could easily be tucked away into a 529 and also put towards tutoring and things to develop the child's mind. The focus on the child's looks will certainly point her in the non college direction!
Innocent children shouldn't be forced into pageants. You don't need a judge to decide if you're a beautiful queen or not. Such awful parents are turning their children into bratty little devils.
These moms are living through their children. It's not fun for the kids, they don't want to do half the things their forced to and they end up getting their feelings crushed if they don't win. Not winning is basically telling the girls they aren't pretty enough or good enough. No child should be told that, EVER. They're like teenagers in 5 year old bodies. Not right.
The moms shown on Toddlers and Tiaras are extreme examples of pageant parents. TLC certainly isn't going to show any normal parents because nobody would watch. I grew up doing commercials and things since I was 2 years old. There were certainly lots of crazy 'stage parents,' but there were also lots of parents like mine. I wore lots of makeup and had my hair done to appear 'flawless' on screen at a young age. I turned out alright!
Look up Brock on Toddlers and Tiaras. Perfect pageant family!
@fadedsilks If a child wants to do pageants (ie...Brock), then what's wrong with a parent letting them and helping them do so? Lots of parents have rules for their child (no flippers, no tanning, not a lot of makeup...). I see nothing wrong with a child getting up on stage to dance and 'put on a show' and to be judged for it. The beauty aspect is, of course, wrong, but the costumes and the dances and talents and the makeup I see nothing wrong with.
Putting your kids in pageants is fine. Making them wear make up and wearing them out over it is not. There is no reason for that. Let them be a kid.
And I feel make up is something that should be saved for when they grow up because being raised on make up makes them think they need it to go everywhere.

these kids being in these child-pageants and shows is the real bad parenting. these shows teach what? dancing half dressed in front of adults will get you money and attention? that its better to be "doll like" and made up with mass amounts of make up than it is to be natural? these pageants creative monsters. i think they were invented for the cosmetic industry to get consumers from a very early age. these shows are a way for their stage moms to live vicariously through their children.

I've made a new drinking game featuring Toddlers & Tiaras. You take a shot whenever a mom eats a potato chip, or makes her 4 year old get a spray tan, or whenever a pageant dad is an obvious closet case among other things.

pagents can actuaaly pay for kid;s college's it can make them have self confidence yes there are moms out there that are doing it for them but there are also some really GOOD pagent moms, like this one.

@ThePinkotter Really now? Do you see the inputs into these pagents? $10K dresses, acting lessons, travel, lodging, cosmetics, etc? That money could easily be tucked away into a 529 and also put towards tutoring and things to develop the child's mind. The focus on the child's looks will certainly point her in the non college direction!

These moms are living through their children. It's not fun for the kids, they don't want to do half the things their forced to and they end up getting their feelings crushed if they don't win. Not winning is basically telling the girls they aren't pretty enough or good enough. No child should be told that, EVER. They're like teenagers in 5 year old bodies. Not right.

The moms shown on Toddlers and Tiaras are extreme examples of pageant parents. TLC certainly isn't going to show any normal parents because nobody would watch. I grew up doing commercials and things since I was 2 years old. There were certainly lots of crazy 'stage parents,' but there were also lots of parents like mine. I wore lots of makeup and had my hair done to appear 'flawless' on screen at a young age. I turned out alright!
Look up Brock on Toddlers and Tiaras. Perfect pageant family!

@fadedsilks If a child wants to do pageants (ie...Brock), then what's wrong with a parent letting them and helping them do so? Lots of parents have rules for their child (no flippers, no tanning, not a lot of makeup...). I see nothing wrong with a child getting up on stage to dance and 'put on a show' and to be judged for it. The beauty aspect is, of course, wrong, but the costumes and the dances and talents and the makeup I see nothing wrong with.

Putting your kids in pageants is fine. Making them wear make up and wearing them out over it is not. There is no reason for that. Let them be a kid.
And I feel make up is something that should be saved for when they grow up because being raised on make up makes them think they need it to go everywhere.
