Love it! I'd like to learn to play the pipes, but it would take me about 4hrs to walk far enough away from humans.....From what I've heard, they are horriffic when played badly as a learner!.......Not like they have a volume controll!

@24934637 My cousin learned how to play on a type of electronic bagpipe. They had headphones attached, so only he could hear what he was playing. He would walk around the house playing the bagpipes. He's phenomenal now.

do you know if synthetic bags on bagpipes are any good? I'm looking into learning the bagpipes and I'm planning on getting some low cost rosewood ones, they come with a regular bag or synthetic. I'm not sure which is better.

You can tune bad drones they just drift faster. The wood will affect the sound and the stability. Tune them at LEAST to eliminate the big WooWooWooWoo sound, but ideally before that you should be tuning a tenor to your low A, (Bflat) to eliminate the beating too. Get another piper to show you and learn to hear the out of tune humming beat so you can correct it, it's not that hard and with cheap pipes you'll need to do it more than with expensive ones.

That explanation does not make sense to pipers. Tune your drones at *least* to each other. Prefferably get reeds that will tune those drones to your low A etc. I don't see why anyone would bore drones to not reach B flat or thereabouts, it makes no sense regardless of the wood.
