  • Email going away? I don't think so. Imagine if a company had a contact us page and it said to send them a message on facebook or SMS them if you need to get in touch.... how amateurish & unprofessional would that be?

  • What a dumb bitch. Cluecheck: teenagers are more likely to know how to keep adults like YOU from tracking them: its what they do ALL DAY LONG. Get away with stuff.

  • lol XDDD i haven't send or read or recieve any email since last week XDDD

  • Who cares about teenagers? If I recall Facebook started out as a site for college students. Plus E-mail is not all about communicating. I get confirmation e-mails for when I buy something.

Plus dont you have tpo have an e-mail to sign up for facebook? HA

  • @Chris22090 And confirmation e-mails are not communication. I see. You MORON!

  • @CansOfWhoopAss Nice. Go on with name calling.

  • fuck this stupid bitch! I check my e-mail everyday or use MSN messenger to talk to my friends/family. That's the first thing I do, and failbook thinks it's going to die? HA! give it 2-3 more years and failbook is the one that will die, when something new comes along the way, everyone will switch to that... look what happened to poor Myspace. Heck, failbook uses e-mail to register/forgot your password and they think it's dying... :-S

  • Humph this is a Please Read my personal emails and help yourself to all my privacy thanks for this FaceBook; NOT!

  • Maybe she didn't get the memo, Social networking sites are blocked at most companies. And eventually teenagers will have to goto work so.....

  • Is it any wonder the long lost girl wants to get back in touch with someone who is now the COO of a Gizabucks company? I've got news for you Sheryl.. your "adopted sister's" motivations via your "so-called incredible Social Networking System" might not be all that noble.

  • Companies, today, are starting to create applications to block social networking websites, in order to increase productivity. Emails, are not only required, for business communication but has been accepted as a legal form of communication, when in doubt. However, texting has been brought up in some of the most cases such as Kwame Kilpatrick case in Detroit. It is hard to say..but there is a lot of room for increased texting in near future, but emails are here to stay...

  • Social networks and are for socialising and email is for business, of course teenagers only use email for 10% of their communication. For social networks to replace email society would have to change so that you're happy for your boss/employees and drinking buddies to share and see the same information about you.Now perhaps that could happen but it seems highly unlikely. SMS could replace email for short messages, but obviously not for anything requiring large amount of details.Silly proposition

  • If text messaging becomes as robust as HTML email then text messages could replace business related commercial email as well. Email started out as texting is now: primitive, pay per use, but quickly becoming very popular. I think Sandberg is somewhat biased toward social networking - just because teenagers aren't using email today doesn't mean they won't use it when they're older. If anything is really killing email it's spam, & spam will start surfacing via text messaging once it's 100% free

  • From a person to person communication perspective, texting could very well replace email, mainly because most people can't write worth shit and so the limited medium of texting doesn't bother most people when communicating. However, if you want to communicate via writing anything beyond a couple of sentences, who is really going to prefer thumbing away on a Blackberry to touch typing on a laptop keyboard (I can type 70 words per minute)?

  • when i was a teenager i used just irc/msn and stuff.. not email... today, i couldn't imagine my life without e-mail... so give a damn of people who are saying that email will not exist in future... maybe not in its form, but a way to communicate "officialy" has to be there.. imagine to apply for a job over facebook... forget it...

  • facebook sucks

  • yeah right as if all the facebook accounts were for real, half of them are fictitious unless michael jackson and elvis are alive. And some people create accounts for their pets!!! virtual and real.

  • Interesting view, but don't think social networks will ever replace e-mail. It's more like social networks ads new functionalities and replaced SOME functions of e-mail.

Just like regular mail is still essencial for the world to function in several areas, some things can't replace e-mail, which is also still evolving.

  • sheryl sandbag want's to put the paper companys out of business

  • @gymer15 Maybe if paper goes out of biz they will finally legalize weed.

  • BLAH BLAH BLAH A modern day Snake Oil salesman

  • She is so amazingly condescending. And it really disturbs me how shes trying to con all these people. Acting like FB is some sort of amazing invention that will change the world and not what it really. Which is a Fad that will be replaced by something else in a year or two. And whats all the trash talk on emails :x I love my email and I value it hundred fold to any silly text message I may send.

  • @Rinrenken Ahhh what a little rebel. So cute.

  • wtf is this

her stories are making me depress

  • ok im a teenager..sure we do SMS or use facebook/social networking alot, yes we do use email too..we obviously have to for things such as account confirmations or account settups and other things. But, for you people on this video commenting that the whole "we need to look to teenagers for whats next" thing is wrong, you're wrong. If you think for one second that most of US don't inform our parents, our families on whats new and whats the best thing to have for what your doing then your wrong.

  • @userrob880 we hardly use e-mail. Only for verification and stuff, that really doesnt count.

  • this is true i had just graduated from highschool and we got our 10 year reunion paper and the first this on the paper was....."what is your face book" not do you but for sure that we all had one

  • I do agree to a certain extent with the majority of comments, email is definitely for the working world and teens won't use that form of communication until they get there. But, it is also very likely that social media sites like facebook and twitter will be adapted by the users to become for business and working because that is the form of communication they are most comfortable with. Maybe you may all disagree, but it is also a pattern that people stick with what they know.

  • Teenagers don't use email, they SMS and use social networking sites? Possibly, but this doesn't mean they'll always do that. That's what I used to do, and now I use email more than anything else. Facebook's like Friends Reunited for me. Teenagers SMS because they aren't always mature enough to convey greater meaning. Email is cross-platform and digitally universal; Facebook, on the whole, is not. Facebook is a brand. A strong one, but not definitive.

  • No its Fucking NOT!!! You better not ousted it! Email is the college business tool as well as the formal way of communication... Plus Facebook and Myspace dont communicate with each other... Email does!

  • She's got it ass backwards, social networking sites and texting enhance email by moving the useless "social" chatter away from email.

  • Seheart, I hate to say it, but you are the stupid one--or at least the shortsighted one. Not long ago, people like you would have said the same thing about landline telephones and handwritten letters. Sure, those two things are technically "still around," but much, MUCH less used. Wake up, genius.

  • Do teenagers have jobs? This is beyond stupid. Sure people use the social web for contacts, but email will always be here.

  • well... I get less spam on facebook than sms / email.

  • @philnolan3d I think what she's saying is that the trend toward social networking VS email will only accelerate, given that the youth of today will be designing these spaces in the future. She's not hammering the final nail in the coffin for email, just predicting it's demise and arranging a pre-paid funeral!

  • Bull. For those people who use facebook it might be something you use with your close friends but what about the massive amounts of email that are not friends or relatives? Do you really think clients and your boss are going to write on a wall or whatever to contact you? What about your doctor with your test results or a reminder to come get a check up? Plenty of people don't even use fb now let alone have it replace their email. I'd say 90% of my email would not belong on fb.

  • email is being replaced by the Social Web
