  • EVERY COUNTRY every civilitation has had pointless confict, endured economic hardship ,and made its share of fuax pa' s so do not think that arrogance pride weakness or conflict are distinctly american traits ,they are human traits we all share! !!!!!!

  • Th3lukewarm here is a little tide bit for you america has turned the tide on every major conflict has had the pleasure of birthing some of the greatist medical minds in the world one of wich has brought the world closer to curing cancer recently ,we were the first on the moon we are still a driving force for democracy and free speak and if you dont like it thats fine but if you have something derogatory to say about the USA and claim theirs nothing to be proud of because mistakes have been made

  • i love this song

  • This song not only explains the 'state' of Alabama; but everyone's life at one point or another

  • @narigotifecation thanks

  • how dare neil young write this song about alabama he wasnt born there he wasnt born in the south hell he was born in canada for cryin out loud besides a southern man dont need him around anyhow

  • @dixie00dipper1 well said!!!

  • well i heard mister young sing about her, well i heard ole neil put her down, well i hope neil young will remember that a southern man don't need him around anyhow. - (southern by the grace of God)

  • I Hope Neil Young will forgive, a Southern man does need him around anyhow.

  • the ENTIRE U.S.A has weight on the shoulders, i see on tv north american people( im not gonna say americans, america is a continent not a country) proud of been born in there, if they know a tiny bit of U.S.A. history, they would see that there is no reason to be proud...

  • How can Neil be "helping " Alabama with this song just listen to the hatred intent of Southern Man,That is hypocritical!!! What Neil did was to make Lynyrd Skynyrd even more famous by enticing him to write/sing Sweet Home Alabama.A far superior song than any of Neil's

  • @marigotification are you kidding right? lynird skynird is a joke of a band with a one hit wonder! dont make laugh you hillbillie!

  • @th3lukewarm You may want to check on your spelling...the band you love is Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • @marigotification i dont give a fuck about how do you spell that, sir.

  • Peterborough, Ontario, Canada..i swear

  • thank you for giving neil young to us, one of the most influential music writers out there. music wouldn't be the same without him

  • this song rips on alabama

  • 9 people are deaf and thought the visuals were boring.

  • The South was right. What else can I say?

  • Alabama remains the same today! Thank goodness Lincoln won the war!

  • @rgrbuck3 I think the song has less to do with the Civil War and more to do with post-war poverty that's still evident in the south-east to this day. Reconstruction failed. So rip on Alabama for whatever reason but my sympathy goes out to Birmingham and the rest of the struggling regions of the old state.

  • titel 8. What's that?

  • if you don't like it, don't play it! simple as that...IF you took the time to listen to the lyrics, he is not 'dissin' Alabama...he's talking about the state (for lack of a better word) that it is in..which if you knew your History,w/ the hangings, civil rights, etc.you would understand. "you've got the rest of the Union, to help you along..." My people are from Tuscaloosa & I don't look at the song as a put-down to Alabama.....I like Neil Young...btw Carthsgtr, he doesn't sing girly songs..

  • why the fuck do you look it up if your going to complane. every body who does not like this song fucking shut up

  • ITS TIME TO START TALKING PEOPLE,TOO MUCH MUSIC AND FIRE WORKS...

  • This song was what "sweet home alabama" was in response to. "I heard Mr. Young talk about her". The fact that Ronnie said a 'Southern Man" don't need him around was just a double slap at Neil.

Ronnie was a big fan of Neil's by the way.

  • @1957robertjohnson ahh god damn wrong thumb, glad you know your stuff ><

  • @1957robertjohnson no, you are VERY wrong...that song was not written in retaliation...why argue..

  • My home needs to stay strong, especially now.

  • Whatever anyone thinks of Neil, I know that every time my band plays one of his songs, the audience LOVES it...

  • neil young has an excellent singing voice

  • Everyones got their opinion and right to defend it. So why argue? Either way, we'll try and defend ours so whats the point wasting time arguing instead of listening to the music? Is it really worth it?

  • good song, shame he can't sing

  • @MrTonygigantico you obviously have no taste in music my kind sir, Neil Young is a great artist, vocally and instrumentally, beyond epic proportions

  • It looks like somebody confused this song with Sweet Home Alabama, which was written in response to this song and "Southern Man" (also by Neil Young). In my opinion, both Neil Young songs are better.

  • it's a superb song, from a superb record...although justin bieber's version is slightly better...

  • @uclrichard its all opinion man...

  • @uclrichard JB's version??? whaaa???

  • @Ohmegoosh

Dude I checked it out and apparently he did SWEET HOME ALABAMA. I barfed when I saw it.

  • @Carthsgtr good! you shouldn't have to rack your body to watch that shit! screw JB!!!!!!!

  • @Carthsgtr Ewwwww!!!! I think he should just stick to his girly little songs....BLECHHHHH!

  • @uclrichard who is justin bieber?... link us with his version

  • @alec12 I don't want to hear it. It's bad enough knowing that it exists. I'm sure you would feel the same.

  • I hope Neil Young will remember, a Southern Man don't need him around, anyhow.

  • you got the weight pn your shoulders....that´s breaking your back

  • on of my faves on this album

  • ...i've lived in alabama for about 47 years !

...i saw neil young in mobile, al in 1970 or 1971 i forget.

...alabama sucked then and it still sucks.

...the stereotype dumbass, redneckes, in pick up trucks, is sadly True !

Niel Young, Long May You Run !!

Keep on rocking in the free world.

  • @stikmanaa If you don't like Alabama, then move. You're generalizing, which makes you part of the stereotype.

  • @stikmanaa The song speaks to civil rights 40 years ago and not the people of the Great state of Alabama today.

  • Alabama > Sweet Home Alabama

  • spending one night in Alabama must be nice

  • ik theres been a big fuckin pouty fit going on between us and canada but the whole lynyrd skynrd thing would have made more since if they were from alabama. i know it doesnt have to do with what state their from but its still fuckin stupid. i like both bands. i just like more neil young songs than lynyrd skynrd, besides the fact skynrd is WAYYYYYY over played. ppl need to get over shit and grow up. america is going to be the cause of WW3. oh lets keep getting in other ppls business.

  • Forgetting about the words for a moment, the music on this song rocks. A mean guitar at its most convincing.

  • Great track.

  • neil young shat all over lynard skynard with this lol neil young ftfw

  • @cameronc20 in fact, i think this was previous to sweet home alabama

  • @skate2spellgirl yes i made a mistake it was southern man

  • "That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow." -Hillel

  • a southern man don't need you around anyhow!

  • Hey! but this is a rollicking good argument!

  • Niel has to be the most influential artist of the century.

  • Continued: Again Neil made it clear that he was trying to tone down his blistering attack of the South. Neil could no longer afford his expensive fleet of Cadillacs if he could make friends and bucks down in South and especially Alabama.

  • I talked with Neil last week - 2:04 AM - 2:49 AM in the morning for those who doubt me ..and so there goes your proof (Joe Jackson sang that) and he said after his screeching voice and guitar on Southern Man he wanted to make it up to the South. So he did a song which is less strident .. even sings " Make friends down in Alabama" w/o too much sarcasm ..

  • Thank you Neil for the wonderful hours .I hear your Music every day and can't stop to listening .

  • Well, I have to say the world is a completely different place today than I remember it back in the 1970s and it was songs like this that made us think, reflect and move forward in a positive way. Thanks Neil Young, you make me proud to be Canadian!

  • im from alabama and the hell with a canadian douchebag i dont really care what he thinks about me and my state

  • i think some people fail to realize what was going on in alabama when this song was written. that said, couldve used without the "banjos playing through the broken glass" line.

  • I totally agree with neil young and what he put out there cause somebody had to say something its not racist its against racism dude

  • this song is racist

  • @ledzeppelinnnnnn

    U're an idiot.

  • @ledzeppelinnnnnn Pretty sure this song is anti-racist... lmao

  • wow!

  • "...I have not got a clue how old the Elephant Man was!" - Karl Pilkington

  • While I do not agree with Young's politicle point of view, this song ROCKS!

  • RETARDS YA

  • White voice, yea so cortical, very good

  • @OHWISEONE1996 apparently

  • Only retards argue on youtube, or on the internet for that matter.

  • Well, after all this song is, in a way, about retards, so...

  • Only bigger retards call people retards for arguing on YouTube.

  • I WISH TO ARGUE AGAINST THAT, LOL!

  • @pb999999999 isn't that am argument?

  • @pb999999999 Well, then, I suppose we are all retards!

  • @pb999999999 only morons use the word retard as a put down

  • wtf is a "titel"?

  • @chaircreature its french, Duh. :-)

  • @chaircreature Called a typo. got me folo

  • The only people who call America "The Greatest Country In the World" are the losers who have never been outside it. And you should be happy for that, otherwise they'd be tromping mud through your museums with their fanny packs and shirts with wolves howling in front of an American flag. Fucking scum, we in the cities HATE YOU. And if you think people are afraid of your guns and pick-ups, you should hop in one and take a cruise out west, get chopped up a lot faster out here than there, I promise.

  • you know absolutely nothing about canada... i dont think you have the right to say its boring because i dont think you've ever been there.. i dont think you know that toronto is the 5th most populous municipality in north america... and yes canada has the greatest weed in the world... how can you beat that? i dont belive you can beat that by a bunch of ignorant, racist pricks that talk like fuckin' retards....

  • You see if Canada ceased to exist right now, there would be a 5 minute news segment about it. Nothing more. You see while you did participate in both world wars noone really knows you did. Nor do we care its CANADA dude chillax, not all of us live in an interesting country, just be happy to be in that country...

  • Shut up man, so many people in Canada were helping in the war other ways than fighting.

  • @imhigh99 canada is pretty damn big, haiti almost ceased to exist and look solid weeks of coverage. go learn something muppet.

  • I am aware of the size of Canada, alot of it is uninhabited or able to be. Oh and yea u guys lost the Preliminary hockey match. You guys used to have hockey i mean that was candas thing man! people were like Hockey, like in canada? now there like LOL @ CANADA YO.

  • @imhigh99

You're a typical product of the American education system. America is a country of extremes, a lucky few will get to go to some of the best schools in the world. The other 98% of the population like yourself, are treated like scum but are instilled with the rhetoric of "U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A" when they are a child. Your fat cats and lobbyist control everything. America is not a free country.

Rome did not fall in a day....

Neither will America, but the fall has started.

  • Allan2112...I'm from America, and I would encourage you not to argue with this fucking dickbrain. Canada's awesome, this retard has probably never left the state he was born in. Don't waste your energy. Have you ever seen that map of the 2004 election results? The east and west coasts were all blue and labeled "The United States of America" and the rest of the country was red and labeled "Dumbfuckistan." We hate them just as much as you do, here in civilization...mullethead trailer park losers.

  • Or have you ever seen the guy from Tosh.0 do his stand-up routine? He says he's tired of everybody pissing and moaning about how expensive it is to live on the east or west coast. "You can't afford it, move to the middle of the country...that's what it's there for." And I have to bust my ass to be able to afford to live in L.A. but it's either work hard here or live among a bunch of inbred human waste, so I'll tough it out here on the Left Coast.

  • @zerrickntale lol dude you're too damn funny, im from l.a. as well, it's a city to be enjoyed from time to time but not all the time.

  • @ramonesrocket...I wouldn't disagree with you there, there's a lot about the city that I hate. Still better than Dumbfuckistan, though.

  • hehe Dude your actually really funny. weird part is, i can guarantee you my "Trailer park" has more patriotism than your entire state. I will gladly die for my country if not over seas then right here on my own soil fighting this soon-to-be oppressive government we got workin here. You know whos fault that is? Not the farmers! the "dog-eat-dog" corporatists that are infamous on the west coast. Revolution is at hand my friend. Anarchy will prevail.

  • @imhigh99

Revolution and Anarchy? Hilarious! Thanks dude, I needed that laugh.

Please go get a notebook, or find a place on your trailer that, provided it doesn't get snatched up in a tornado or repo'd anytime soon, you can revisit in 10 years, and write down "Revolution is at hand" so you can also get a good laugh at it when you're an adult and you realize how stupid you sounded.

Have fun in your trailer park on the 4th of July! Dye your mullet red, white and blue and party like it's 1899!

  • Oh and PS imhigh99:

You won't die fighting anything, because you won't fight, you'll just talk out your ass on the internet. On the west coast, we want to say THANKS FOR VOTING BUSH IN TWICE!!! He weakened your brand, GOP, and drug the country through the mud so badly that we actually got Obama in there! So muchas gracias ffrom Ca-li-for-nee-a! We appreciate that. And you so destroyed your credibility worldwide that we progressives don't even have to TRY to discredit you. They tuk our jubs!

  • Dude you are so daft its amazing... I mean go to high-school o.o Im a democrat i dont live in a trailer and i bet you couldn't tell me the americanized-origins of the word "Redneck". The south will always be #1 and some of us do have the balls to stand up and fight, i preach about it, i sing and scream about it its in the music my band does. We wont go like BMTH like i said i dont care if noone joins me ill stand up for what i think is right. And as for "Progressive" You act like a Tea-bagger.

  • Comment removed

  • @imhigh99

    1. Americans don't say "daft" you British dickrider.

    2. "hehe Dude your actually really funny. weird part is, i can guarantee you my "Trailer park" has more patriotism than your entire state." - Those were your words, retard.

    3. You won't stand up for anything, you'll post bullshit on YouTube and preah to your asshole friends in the choir. You know it, and I know it. So shove that charade up your asshole and quit pretending to be someone you're not. We can see all your posts.

  • We do say Daft, its a word why cant i say it?

Yes i am fully aware i said that? Thanks for sharing that i suppose o.O

And we will see dude. I refuse to be another slave to this shit, you can wake up every morning go to your dead end job and feed the corporate power that is going to destroy America. People just take it, all the buying out all the corruption they just take it. i however refuse to. But if you want to be another mindless... peon, is a good word i suppose your choice not mine bro.

  • Because you sound like a retard...that's a British colloquialism. And every time you respond you embarrass yourself, I'd quit while I was ahead if I were you. I'm a freelance Graphic Artist, specializing in rebranding non-profits and small businesses, so who's more likely to be a slave? Me or you? And by the way, lectures on breaking free from the corporate beast from a guy who sits around playing violent video games and yapping about the coming revolution? That's BEYOND cliche. Hang your head.

  • Im glad you see that im ahead in this "Argument". And i never claimed that i was Revolutionizing through Combat Arms, last time i checks in this "Free" country im allowed to play a FPS when i want, or did you people take that away too? Im not yapping about the coming revolution im making it happen man. Im not a hippie talking about the man is bad man. Wanna know whats cliche? A "freelance" artist crying his eyes out about shit he dosent understand. Think about whats around you, your just afraid.

  • You should just stick to your war games, intellectual jousting on YouTube just isn't your thing, you're not smart enough. First of all, you can't spell CAN'T ("cant"). And second of all you're a waste of space whose "revolution" will all take place on a computer screen. Real insurgencies aren't played out on lame ass 1st person shooter games by dull witted YouTube trolls.

Hey, maybe you could wage a guerilla campaign of texting mean comments to Uncle Sam, maybe THAT'LL bring "The Man" down!

  • @zerrickntale Yes!!

  • (Holland got the best weed in the world, no offence:P)

  • this song is brilliantly ironical...it's the white americans who are NOW the liberals - while the blacks who neil WAS supporting are the most bigoted scum in the union...it's the illiterate black/spic obama supporters who scuppered gay rights in WHITE california...cunts.

  • How did you reach that conclusion? What do you base your assumption on? Where is the evidence?

  • We never hear this on the radio. Just 'Sweet Home Alabama', over and over again

  • nice song ... thank you.

    greetings from costa@rome.italy

  • cool song

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • id say "we've gotta join BUPA"

  • "I sorted it."

  • "I saw a cricket and a wasp havin' a wrestle"

  • There was a fella' outside our house, who hit a lamp post. He had a helmet on, BUT HIS HEAD COME OFF.

  • @RedRhys125 ilive in mill creek washington. the same think happend at my house bloods still on the ground

  • Internet radio. Thanks, Ricky

  • De-trout spinners

  • Don't ..... talk ..... shit.

  • And like, she rides around the estate...on her three-wheeler bike, with her husband in a basket in the back

  • Where is Karl Pilkington and why is he afraid of Oranges???

  • You'd be afraid of a fruit that looks EXACTLY like your head, wouldn't you?

  • Ahhh, Chimpanzee that, monkey news you ffffuu... Karl Pilkington, bald Manc twat.

  • it just came out like a dead anchovie

  • neil young is god.

  • No more Neil Young or 70's ricky lol

  • Shit. I am starting to go to Rickys blog because of the music and not because of what he is blogging about. :o

    Oh and btw: Karl Pilkington.

  • ...a fucking orange.

  • Rick Waller! Woo

  • Ricky sent me here Karl Pilkers Bald Manc Twat

  • clicky brent: me here

  • Fuck skynard... wicked musicians but neil young is better, who are you gonna choose, some fuckin alabama rednecks or a fuckin awesome canadian songwriter.... fuck all yous guys

  • think you'll find that admired each other greatly, especially on the Skynard towards Young

  • @Allan2112Kent I'll go with the Alabama rednecks =D America will always be the greatest nation in my eyes, and i like bands that see the bad in it, and support the good. And Neil's voice is rather annoying =\ Sorry about responding to this 2 months after the fact, just felt like it had to be said. Canada is rather boring, nothing interesting ever happens. I mean there flag has a weed leaf on it there gonna be pretty chill...

  • on what grounds are you judging "greatest nation"? What are your criteria. please tell me im very interested

  • You cant describe it. All i know is that i love America and its people, its the only country i would give my life for, without a second thought,

  • Had you been brought up in Serbia do you think you would still think the same way? people's affiliaitons are the product of their upbringings. just look at Ireland - its not about Protestant/Catholic as a religion but as a Tribe.

I personally think the concept of a "greatest nation" is fatally flawed from the outset, it depends on what you base your judgement on: if you are judging the states on all the fantastic opportunity that it offers people and the american dream then maybe yes...

  • however if your judging it on the history of its human rights record (Jim crow laws, Guantanamo bay) or its gun laws then it is probably not doing too well.

and why do americans insist on owning guns?

  • Well im sure if i was born and raised in Serbia i would feel the same way. Its a sense Nationalism, i guess the British just never feel that way, i guess thats why you guys suck at war.

I like owning guns because im growing up to be a farmer. Cant just go around beating the pigs to death with a big stick now can we? And im on old style farmer no slaughter houses or harvest machines =\ That and guns are fun, we have the right to own one why not?
