if u disagree with the weighted wheels idea, i dont blame u, but i certainly can't agree with u either because the idea is theoretically possible. and despite wiki being considered "no-good" as a source, i'm gonna go with it and assume its 77 references and stated awards are a good indication of the director's willingness to make every sequence real. i'm goin to assume that the director did have the guts to do this, that he did win those awards for a reason, and that he is one badass mofo.
believe me when i tell you...the steadiness of the camera...cleanliness of the components..and the perfect execution every time, screams one explanation.."CGI!!!"
You fags are so ignorant. This is actually a real rube goldberg that was actually done. It took over 600 tries to complete a continuous run. The wheels are have counterweights in them so once they get touched, they are free to roll down. Not fake, just accept people are smarter than you.
I think your idea that nationality somehow has to do with individual intelligence, is extremely petty of you. What nationality are you? Maybe I can utilize your display of ignorance to represent your culture.
Do you mean, "im" as in "I'm" which is short for "I am"? Because you are coming "off" as a little simple. And, maybe I will "piss of". Or did you mean "Piss Off"?
Whether you are addressing nationality, or individuality, please attain some intelligence before you attack on the character of others.
Guys, I need your assistance, if I may. If you compare the two, getting a degree in mechanical engineering is ALMOST as getting a degree in physics. Am I right? I mean, I know you learn some other stuff in M.E. (like some economics and chemistry, drafting, standards, etc.), but for the most part (say, 80% of the syllabus), you're actually learning physics. So now I need to choose what degree I want to get. What do you guys suggest? Mechanical engineering, or physics? :\
@aryesegal1988 Actually there are huge differences. Physics is purely science knowledge and the laws that govern. Mechanical engineering is going to teach you things you can directly apply in design processes. Engineering processes that will improve saftey factors, for example. Honestly, if you knew anything about engineering, I don't think you'd want anything to do with it if you're just interested in "physics", and vice versa.
@aryesegal1988 I agree with jumper86 in that its drastically different. For one a degree in mech eng is a lot of APPLIED physics (i.e. learning the limits of materials and building designs within the limits). Pretty much you will gain a good understanding of mechanical systems operate and hence can design and build your own based on the theories you gain.
Physics is more theoretical and will generally teach you about small quantum related matters (great choice if interested in graduate studies)
i read the true story behind this comercial long time ago. every part is real and it was film in real time(no cut and paste) i cant remember everything but i know that it took them more than 600 tries to finally get it right. i think is awesome
The wheels are weighted a certain amount around the inside of the rim so that they'll roll uphil when knocked otherwise it's true that it wouldn't have worked. The appliance of science.
@iHsg16 imagine a wheel with a brick on top of it, when its on top its center of gravity is over the contact point with the ground, so its balanced. Now imagine the brick attached to the side (outer rubber that contacts the road) of the wheel. The wheel will roll so the brick hits the ground. As long as the center of gravity is to the right of the contact point it will roll right, uphill or down, the incline changes the contact point.
In the video the first tyre is normal to set up the illusion.
@azzazx6r See that makes sense but is there some kind of lock that holds the 'brick' onto the right side of the wheel so it constantly pushes in that direction?
All of that would word besides the part at 0:27 that wheel does not have enough momentom to push all those wheels but besides that all of it i believe was real
i like it -- its very good show

@iHsg16 no...the tire can only roll half a turn, less on an incline, that's why they need 3 to get to the top
