lovesnooker, people had a problem with the idea that a woman could be involved in killing children, so her crime seemed the more shocking. There was also the fact that she was a heavily-made up platinum blonde who was sexually involved with Brady. This was 1965; stereotypes of women, particularly "loose" women, were still very much in force.
Forgive me for asking, but why do people hate Myra Hindley more than Ian Brady. He was the killer, and he deserves to rot in hell, but Hindley was a good person before meeting Brady. Condemn me if you wish; and Hindley became one of the most evil people once she met Ian Brady, but before that she saved a girl from drowning, and she did a lot for charities. I hate Hindley, as most people do who are human with hearts, but facts are facts. It could be argued that Brady tricked or controlled!
@lovesnooker2010 Hindley is the more infamous of the two, leading to her being the most despised. Back when the moors murders took place it was a massive shock that a woman was involved, women extremely rarely commited crimes at all and to hear of one killing children in cold blood was practically unheard of, women weren't even considered by police for these crimes, see how they talk about the father being involved but dont even mention the mother, and the mother says only 'strange men'.
I remember watching this when it was telly. I couldnt stop thinking about it as it scared and upset me, it was just shocking. The actors played the parts well, pure evil.
maxine peake is truly a remarable actress and this is by far one of her better roles she plays.. however this did send shivvers down my spine at times .

Can someone who saw the entire movie tell us what happens between the boss being a jerk, and an investigator(?) interviewing Mrs. Kilbride?

Sorry, but it's obvious there's a gap between the end of part one (in mid sentence) and part two.

OK, I'm not sure what's happened here, but I'm a huge fan of this drama and I've watched it many times.
And I'm not sure where the huge section between P1 and this P2 video has gone? Cos I can't find it. But I know it's missing.

She's a good actress but I don't think Maxine Peake made a believable Hindley. She's too... I don't know, girlish.

@AlinaAnn you're saying it like hindley was youre best friend
lliiaamm0099 9 months ago
@lliiaamm0099 No, I'm saying it like she doesn't look as old or ugly as Hindley did. So quite the opposite really.

I'm sure when this was on TV there was a clip of Brady throwing a wine bottle at another car when they were driving but it's not on this one.

The girl who plays Maureen also played Rachel Hicks, the naive girl driven to suicide in Bad Girls. What a step up in her acting!

If your intrested in this listen to a song by Throbbing Gristle its called 'Very Friendly' and about Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Its an awesome song!
