This thread is for comments about Faryl's performance of the national anthem. Why is it that some idiots deem it a fit place to start daft arguments about which country has the best anthem. If you want to discuss anthems go and start a thread where you can play them and argue to your heart's content. This anthem is the British anthem, not the English anthem. Basic knowledge "darktee". But then you are not a westerner so what would yopu know?

No. I don't know how it works but the kids put their names in for a chance to walk onto the pitch with the players and they are chosen, then they just walk off when the game starts, i'm not into football much so don't know much about what goes on.

faryl's beautiful rendition was spoiled by those vulgarians who didn't have enough courtesy to keep their gobs SHUT if they weren't prepared to praise her majesty in song!

i've got the same complaint about the excellent gospel choir whose stirring account of `abide with me` was ruined by a disrespectful crowd.

@sebmelmoth2003 I think it just comes as British culture, by "shouting" the national anthem at the top of ones lungs shows ones appreiciation of Britain and The Queen. However, in the US, they remain silent with hand on heart... Just two different ways of showing their patriotism.

@mike118117 Be that your opinion, but I personally believe that we shout the national anthem, although every individual "sings" it, it does sound like shouting when all put together. I also think that Americans show their patriotism by staying quiet and listening to it, rather than singing it, whether they can reach the notes or not...
