  • Hillary Scott sounded awful. She is the one member of lady antebellum that can't sing. I really can't believe that they needed the lyrics. I have known this song since I was about 6 years old

  • They all do a good job with this song throughout! Sara has an amazing voice! Also like the part with no guitars!

  • Luke should have sang a verse.

  • I love Lady Antebellum!

  • yall sounded like you practiced in the parkin lot

  • Could someone pass me the lyrics please? And the tabs too?

  • One of the most iconic songs of country music and they had to read the lyrics off a paper...wow..

  • It really is ashame they didn't know those lyrics..smh

  • Get any song on Media Outlet Online. Just search it on Gooogle :D

  • shame they have to hold the lyrics, a damn shame..........

seems that money has made them forget their roots....

  • Because most artist have earpieces in that feed them the words. None of them do here so that is probably why they have the lyrics in front of them.

  • The important thing is that they know it now. It puts me in mind of a video I saw of Arlo (and all-star friends) singing Worried Man Blues. He had to whisper the words to the singer of the next verse during the chorus.

People used to make music on there own and go to a show to see good musicians perform. Now, music is about listening rather than making. New songs are what the audience is being sold, so pros don't have to learn the standards. :(

  • well at least Sara new the words, great performance but still............

  • Please tell me they didn't have to read the words off that paper.

  • @shuteye1

    Yep, they sure did.

  • @shuteye1 shes a noob how do u not no the words to this song

  • @shuteye1

At least they know it now.

Its a rare treat to see musicians of this stature perform a standard for the first time.

I'll bet that it won't be the last.

  • @mikerickson01 "a rare treat"? At least you put a nice spin on it. But I agree with you, I'm sure it won't be the last time we see young musicians knowing very little about the music that formed the styles they perform today.

  • @shuteye1 what a disgrace to country music

  • @shuteye1 heck, my girlfriend knows this song in 2 languages.

  • boo yah!!

  • This is a great performance, but they should have been able to memorize these simple and classic lyrics. In fact, they should have known them.

  • why cant they sing without the script.

  • I seriously doubt they actually needed the words.

  • Really? I can hear people rolling in their graves...Do you really need the lyrics? An amazing song, just a disappointing performance of it

  • it was good i think it needed some carrie underwood, eric church and randy yravis

  • I remember the first time I heard this song. I'm not sure what it was because it was a long time ago, but it was some sort of Carter family play. I don't know. My dad was working on it though and the lady in charge was so rude. Then I touched this auto harp and got in trouble because supposedly it had belonged to the Carter family. Haha. And I love how Lady A didn't need the paper. x]]

  • it was beautiful, but it made me sad that they had to read the lyrics. at least luke didn't! :-)

  • You can tell James Otto went to chuch as a kid !!!! Thats how ya sing gospel music!!!

  • do they really not know the words to this song, thats a disgrace!

  • wtf why do they need to read that song all country singers should know that song

  • I think they all did such an awesome job. Who cares if they have to read the words to the song or not. Do you people realize just how many songs these people have to learn and memorize the words to? And that's just the songs that they sing themselves. I know singers who have forgotten the words to some of their own songs that they haven't had to perform in a long time. Cut them some slack!

  • I'm sorry, but NO NO NO country singer belongs in country music if they need a piece of a paper with the words to one of the greatest country songs in history....just shameful!!!!! just goes to show ya, today country singers are only in for the money, real country singers would know the words to this song... no real since of history... god bless Johnny Cash and June Carter!

  • Luke didn't even sing:(

  • @onebetter1207 i know!! eric church and luke should've sung!

  • This is so funny they are passing the words around.

  • lol, from what i understand it was sorta a last minute decision to perform this song and they didn't all know the words...so they decided to pass the lyrics so they didn't screw it up..

  • @brookeaturner yes they are! why was he singing in her mic and so close to her the first time they are shown? lol

  • Hillary and Charles are so cute up there :)

  • this is EXTREMELY GOOD!!! go sara!!! haha. who cares if they dont know the words. no biggie:)

  • What is amazing is they dont know the words!

  • woo hoo!!! GO SARA!!!!!!!!

  • whoa

  • all of them togather :)

  • i think we all need the words to that song!!

  • I love James Otto SO much!!! (big smile)

God bless you and him always!!!

  • LOVE sara!!!! :))) she's amazing!!

  • You are kidding, right? Can you all remember the words to songs on the radio that haven't been played in forever? Who cares if they are reading the lyrics. Did you listen to them sing? It was really good!

  • THANK YOU!! 100 percent aggreed

  • wow even i know the lyrics to this... why did country stars need lyrics to the biggest song lol

  • I love this! Its so great to see todays country music stars going some classic songs. My answer to the other ppl posting who were shocked to see they did not no the words is that on tour they only do the songs that our on there cds and they do there songs every night, which this one i no they don't sing at all. Although i was surprized sara evens and rodney attkins didn't no the verses because they both seem to have some roots in bluegrass, who always do this song as a finnisher to preformances

  • these are "country" singers, and none of them even know the words to one of the all time greatest country songs?

  • this is pretty much how i feel. everybody holding a lyrics sheet? be ashamed of yourselves.

  • I love this vid!

    I love this Song!
