Why is old racing more exciting than MotoGP? Ok, no denying it was 'rather' more dangerous in those days, but you were much closer to the racing, the thunder of passing bikes, the smell of Castrol R. With todays far superiour safety equipment a lot of these old riders would have avoided severe injury, death, but it would still be a lethal sport, because you hit something when you crashed in those days. I knew John Hartle, he died hitting scaffolding in front of the earth bank he should have hit.
