  • Yeeesssss Take 6! I love they're music, thank you Jesus for such beautiful voices.

  • The rep is on the floor, but they are great!

  • God is Good, ALL THE TIME!!! AMEN!

  • Whooaa... That's great... I never had heard this group and I loved it... Like they say: "We'll not have problems with ums..." hahahahaha

  • These guys are excellent, but being black is not what defines their harmony...what makes it so excellent is that God is behind his children doing his work through their voices.

  • Ahhh the sounds of Africa, this is where this type of harmony comes from!

  • Really? This sound was developed by the melding of different ethnic groups on the continent of north America during slavery. Find a group of Africans who sound remotely the same and prove your hypothesis. The rhythm of that style may come from Africa but that style of harmonizing is authentically American!

  • Wow your ingonrant, there are several tribes and groups throughout Africa that have preceeded us in this type of Jazz singing which has all of it's Roots in mother Africa and in the US has it's roots with Black people in the first place. ''But'' if you were to travel to Africa and look at the music there, as I'm sure you've never listened to it, and if you have; only one type, lol, which I would venture to say was Soca style, not traditional singing, lol; you would see in Zula , cont,

  • cammicity, I have no doubt that the Africa you speak of, you have only learned in books which is why you are so fervent and dogmatic in your response. Also, if you are going to insult someone by calling them ignorant, then you probably should learn how to spell the word.

  • cont, moeradonna; S. African, especially the Africans who traditionally sing in this style over Victoria Falls, etc, basically if you appreaciated Black music, truly and it's many roots, you'd know this, as well as not to mentioned this type of harmonizing that slaves did in the field, this will only be the product of African Culture, many Europeans have tried to copy it, back in the early 20th century they would sneak into the black clubs and listen & learn & copy! The real facts!

  • As far as your statement of South Africans proceeding us in "Jazz". You probably would like to know that they too were influenced by the Gospel, blues and Jazz introduced to them as American music. Furthermore, look at the roots of the people before you point to Africa. Our people in North America were primarily from Central, and West Africa-mostly Angola, Senegambia and Nigeria. When these groups met the Native Americans and blended with the Irish Jazz-American music was created.

  • Also, you act as if Africans were the only slaves: Native Americans served side by side in those fields, so shut up. I doubt you are a musician or music educator and are drawing your conclusions from outdated books found in the prison library. That said, just like Jambalaya, Jazz is a beautiful blend that took place in America. So stop the racist ranting and be proud of what your ancestors HERE created. I can see from your comment wall that you do nothing but stir trouble with racist comments.

  • Please regarding the typo error in spelling the word ignorant, whatever! Regarding Africa, I've been there, am of African Desent, and have had my genetic research done as to where we possibly came from. I live and study amongst more African people, that I'm sure you've ever been around or will be around! I have and continue to study the history of our music, it's roots etc,. ( Am only a 5 to 8 hour flight from Africa, depending on which part I visit) It's impossible for me to Racist rant, cont

  • cont, Rant, As you call it over my own people! In the US most Blacks today are embarassed of who and where there people desend from, largely due to the stain of slavery. I'm from the US, and come from a family rich in Black history, knowlegeable in music, as many of them grew up in the South, Detroit, etc, I could go on and on , but you'd never match me in knowledge on this subject. I don't just study African forms of where certain types of music descended from, yet i study, how it has; cont,

  • cont, how it has evloved. Many other cultures borrow from our music of African descent! Arabic, Salsa, Merengue, music, just to name a few! I laugh in your face at your first comment, that started this trivial conversation, that this does not sound like African music, this is exactly African sounds of harmonizing, and this is why it is only in our culture. Racists and I comment on my own Culture! Your IGNORANCE is sublime! I don't read European books which lie when they discuss our history! cont

  • cont, I study real facts, comments taken from the slaves narratives, out of the horses mouth so to speak! Never the American White persons diluted version of what our history is. I've traveled just too speak and learn, just how vast our African Culture has covered the world. After all We are the Majority, as Africa & Asia ( Asia being larger) are the largest Continents! But back to music, maybe you should really get into some Afircan music, you'll eat your words! Peace out!

  • You don't know who you are talking to and you don't know my experience of background with African music. Please shut your racist, prison bird mouth.

  • Typical ignorance! How in the world can I be a Racists speaking the facts. Unless your background lies in Africa, you have nothing you could possibly comment on regarding my Culture! Prison never been in the inside of one, quite possibly that has been your forte in life, you seem to mention it so often in your conversation. cont,

  • cont' By your unlettered comment it is clear you have no knowledge of where our music descends. I 'm done with useless uneducated chatter about a subject you obviously know nothing about, ref: your 1st comment! By the way ''Prison Birds'' as you call it must exist in your family, you know more about them than me, and in the first place I doubt they'd be educated, otherwise they would not have ended up behind bars in the first place, so you continue to visit your friends and family there!

  • After going through your so called blog it is obivous you are of European descent, one of those who dabbles in a bit of our history thinking they know everything about it! Where have you travelled in the world! Which cultures have you actually spent time with and studied. It's funny how the average European ( as yourself with, quote from your Blog; ''words sharper than a machete'' lol really strong words) resorts to calling everyone who states the facts as Racist, reality is they hate the, cont

  • cont, Reality is they hate the truth, and all you can resort to is OMG those are such Racists comments, or uneducated slanders as Prison Birds, how ignorant, as in your mind really you feel that is where all minorities come from or belong! So typical, I come across narrow minded people often unfortunately! if you were right you'd never argue with a person about their culture, a culture you've never experienced, and FYI if you've ever dated someone of Ethnic descent it does not qualify you cont,

  • cont, as knowing anything about their Culture. even living in that Culture, you can't understand it nor will you ever, if it's not according to the skin your in! Yes, this world is not Grey there is none, your are highly naive, unfortunately there are bits of it at times, but when it comes to the average person of color, be it of African or Arabic ( Middle Eastern background there is no Grey! Get your head out of your European Authored books and learn from real life!

  • Do you have any resources to support your argument or is this just what you think is right?

  • i saw them!! it was amazin!!

  • any one of these guys would blow 99% of the top recording artists today outa the water if they could develop a solo career. Through any one of them on an usher track and they would kill it.

  • Maybe I'm a bit behind... but what happened to Cedric? Is he no longer in T6? his version of this is amazing. The new guy is blessed don't get me wrong...

  • i believe the deal is that this guy fills in for cedric when he is otherwise unable to attend the performances himself. but cedric is still very much in the group. if anyone has any other info on that, please post... (smile)

  • They are soooo good. My school is very blessed. They are coming to Nebraska to sing with my schools choir for our Christmas Concert. I am looking forward to working with them

  • Fantástico...

  • BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO BOYS, WOW :-)

  • You Guys have great vocals!

  • nah Khristian doesn't sound better than Cedric D.- more feeling in his rendition.

  • Take 6 are from Oakwood University, aka Oakwood College. A college ive been connected since birth basically, my mom is a prefessor there and i am a student at the highschool. My mom went to school with them all, she remembers them announcing in class that they were nominated for a grammy i believe. I saw 3 of them sing couple months ago at a funeral at their home church Oakwood College.

Its not wierd seeing them, but it is wierd seeing how much people outside of huntsville, AL know of them.

  • Yes, I agree. Hello, neighbor, I live in Parrish/Jasper, Al.......I have a cd by the gospel group Accapella...awesome Beyond the Azure Blue....love these "instruments"/voices...just beautiful

  • you love to love that bass

  • Gospel at a Jazz fest. Funny. Jazz is well known to be very freethinking and irreverent. Think Ella and Louie! :)

  • roots of american popular musical genres are linked whether jazz, gospel, r n' b, funk, hip hop etc

  • Well where exactly do you think jazz came from??

  • Jazz came from Gospel, but that wasn't my point.

  • "When I go to the Gate, I'll play a duet with Gabriel. Yeah, we'll play 'Sleepy Time Down South' and 'Hello, Dolly!.' Then he can blow a couple that he's been playing up there all the time."-Louie Armstrong

"I know I'm no glamour girl, and it's not easy for me to get up in front of a crowd of people. It used to bother me a lot, but now I've got it figured out that God gave me this talent to use, so I just stand there and sing."-Ella Fitzgerald

Oh no I got ya. Freethinkers right? ;)

  • the vidoe is good

  • What singer is this??? it's not Cedric Dent...

  • i think is Cedric son...

  • It's Khristian Dentley, he was a stand-in while Cedric was teaching.

  • Well i think he sounds better than Cedric in the Original Version...

    Nice Song

  • The enthusiasm that Take 6 sings this song...I look forward to seeing them at that Home where I shall also be going to. They are ready to fly away to our home. I am ready. Are you?

  • Incredible

  • I am a South African, and yes, this song is most probably inspired by Black Mambazo. BUT, Black Mambazo is not the only group in our country that sings scathamiya(or some may know it as mbube music). Love T6 tho. Always have. And I fell inlove with this song in So Cool, and and will never outgrow it. Hearing them sing it live is a hundred times better than the cd.

  • What other scathamiya groups can you recommend listening to.

  • I am a South African also and agree that mbube music is just so good. So many groups back home known and unknown who are good like this. You can hear the difference btn the American and African pronounciations. They have typical American pronounciations but still do a typical Take Six phenomenally EXCELLENT job!!

  • man, its just good music people .. relax on the religious bent ..

  • I have enjoyed and been awed with this group for over 10 yrs...glad to see them continue on ..from Rapture

  • Does anybody else hear a lot of LadySmith Black Mambazo or their style of singing in this particular track?

  • You are rather astute NatT...LSBM lost some perfomers to death/tradegy...Paul Simon did a rather wonderful 'thing' in releasing them from our Motherland..but they are fragmented now...God bless them...from Rapture

  • Thanks for the compliment and the LSBM update, Dcvegas1. I'm still amazed that many people thought PS was exploiting the African musicians.

  • yo nat, ladysmith black mambazo is a group from south africa. basically fly away was inspired by the mambazo way of doing things.

  • I am stunned that you wouldn't think I knew where LSBM was from. I saw them perform in Toronto shortly the whole 'Graceland' explosion.

  • We just need to embrace our african Root. I hear it you right.

  • Who is the lead on this? Does T6 have stand-ins or understudys on the regular?

  • I belong to an Accapella Group "Called 2 Serve" really i thought we had attained the peak not until i had Take 6" i was dumbfounded never really knew Acapella could sound this ......... really cant say what word should fit in there cause this guys are just in fact three much, they're the best no contenders. Thumbs Ups

  • take 6 is a once in a lifetime group. the art is beyond anything of this world.

  • This sounds like a jazz festival. We do know "jazz" has not a christian meaning.

  • Of course God does care about what we can sound like. God has special ways of worship in Bible. Just one thing, Bible always tells us not to offer "strange fire" to God. He's not pleased about that, and this is not our own opinion. We should not use worldly methods to honor God. Do you really think we need a NOISE to begin a worship to Jesus?

  • what strange fire are you talking about?

just as long as you have the heart to worship and you are doing it for God's purpose, there is no such thing was strange fire. they're are trying to spread christianity in a different way.. its not wrong or strange.

  • It's not the way my friend. Remember something very important, we are not here to offer the way we want but the way His word explains in Bible. Paul spread Gospel in Rome, Greece and Asia but he never used "their" methods neither in preaching nor in music to show them the truth.

Keep in mind we are creatures so we can not "decide" what kind of music we can do, but we should follow instructions in Bible.

  • Thats such an institutionalized way of thinking, thats NOT GOD, So you mean to tell me YOUR interpretation says that the way Take 6 sings is other than what God wants? If thats the case were all in trouble, So the way my ancestors(african slaves) sung their praises to God was incorrect because their way...

  • differs from the way thier captors sung thier praises? So who's correct? What christian denomination is correct? Chanting monks? Southern Baptist? etc etc, Your point holds no merit due to the many differences there are in christian music, You must always remember 1 thing also...Christ didnt practice christianty but he did practice Judaism did he not? He was called Rabbi...was he not? So maybe we should learn some judaic form of singing praises?

  • its the american ladysmith black mambazo.

  • BOTH my 27-year-old musicology studies AND my EXCELLENT taste say Take 6 are unsurpassable. Of course there are many musical styles and formations, but, as far as the a capella approach is concerned, they've achieved perfection. YOu could travel into the future 200 years and see that this can't be topped.

  • Youre right.

  • If you want to know what's the best music to listen to, don't listen your "heart", because, he might be lying to you. Just make a little study, and you can see what rock and the music that has beat, has over the human body, and you will be amazed. I'm not trying to convince anyone. God bless you all!

  • studied music several times in the past pertaining to Christianity but if you are going to compare take six and by extension most acapella music to rock then it may not make sense discussing this point...just remember David danced before the Lord ;)

  • Who told you David danced before the Lord in such a way as world does? Another thing, why was dance not considered in early church's worship? You can not compare David's dance with this. Just a "brief" difference, David's dance was spontaneous, this dance is jazz (just look at the background).

  • I'm sure God would listen to Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, and, in general, classical music and choirs, and sacred music.

  • Cheliuta19, what music would God listen to? Did you even ask God what music he likes? Or, or youn trying to be God in the area of music aesthetics?

  • I am sure that Jesus would listen to it! God doesn't care what you sound like, He cares about what is in your heart. also I think these guys are the greatest!

  • Please stop passing on your own parochial attitude. We, SDA or non-SDA are mere humans and do not know the mind of God, except what the Spirit of God reveals. And, God is not partial. Your personal tastes does not dictate what is or isn't "good" music.

  • exactly, you hit the nail! like we can not know what to do, we need to read what Spirit of Prophecy has to say about it. Have you read it? because if you read it, you'll see how worship music should be, and this is not one.

  • So your telling me you know God's cd collection? Your funny to me, I guess you think all God's music must sound like you want it to sound...It doesnt work your way, It's about singing the praises of God lil one.

  • yes, it's about singing the praises of God. God has not left us into darkness in this area either. He has shown us in Bible the way to worship Him, with reverence. He gave us Spirit of Prophecy to read about it as well.

  • is there any singing group to equal them? Perhaps among the angels...

  • Love Take6! Get a better fill in for Ced. if he's teaching. How do i find a completed Video of them in concert? Love these snippets, but it seems impossible to find what has been played. Someone help.

  • Take 6=HOT

they are so gifted and amazing!

    i luv this.

  • Take 6 in my country no like but me yes, take 6 is fenomenal vocal group and your voice super perfect.

Take 6 is the best. The latin singers Luis Miguel record whith him.

  • i love Take 6

  • The best ever in life. But where is Cedric Dent. The dude that is singing is not part of Take 6
