The reason why so many Muslims are taking the side of celebrating birthday is because it has been embedded into their brain from the society, that one must be celebrating birthday, wedding day, death day otherwise it will be a big time miss for him or for his relatives. They need to realize that people lived for thousands of years without celebrating any special days. It's a relatively new practice. Maybe in future a time will come when people will stop celebrating these days.
I'm a practicing Muslim and I think your statement sure is true about a certain group. To think that the creator of everything would get mad at you for throwing a party because you lived another year...ridiculous. I don't care if pagans invented birthdays or atheists did; all I know is that I want a big fat chocolate cake with candles, and I am pretty sure God will enjoy me enjoying. God is NOT a hater, stop turning him into one. BTW no disrespect to anyone, just love:)
@umrahsahab :-) We all love to eat cakes. But how you acquire the means for that cake is what makes the difference. you know its not right for someone to cheat or deceive someone so that he can feed his family, the intention is noble to feed his family but the means for it are not. Same thing when u work in an office what the Boss says you do its his office his rules. Religion is the same, Christians took what they liked and rejected the rest muslims now are doing the same, going astray.
I must qualify your statement, regardless of how much I love you;). I think precisely BECAUSE intention matters, the roots of a particular cultural 'event' are irrelevant. Yes, we must be careful to hold onto the essence of Islam, but I don't think that birthday candles or the way your dress or your scientific opinions have any bearing on that. Religion (Islam) is a thing which can permeate all aspects of life, we should be careful not to trivialize it into debates about birthdays
I think we agree about intention and the source of your income:) I guess I am expanding and not qualifying your view. I think guy in the video is incorrect about us not being able to follow other cultures. We cannot follow the areas in which other religions or cultures go wrong, but indulging in cultures is part of what God wants us to do. We gain perspective that way. A Muslim in a sombrero is every bit the Muslim as one in a thwab or hijab. Now I gotta go get a sombrero dang it;p
exellent ...THESE R TRUE SCHOLAR..they have told the very true solution for this problem...but if u go to zakir naik and those other ..they would let u do it instead of telling u the truth...:@ such a gumrah ghair muqalideen
its all about intention, we muslims never have the intention to imitate kaffirs or non muslims, if birthdays are haram because of that, then wearing jean pants is haram because its a kafir creation and why do scholars never make fatwas on national day or new year, on those days, everywhere including UAE, brunei and many muslim countries, they celebrate with crazy fire works, would that be much more haram that cutting lousy birthday cakes from baskin robins!!!!, and btw they are hazardous also.
I hate my birthday, my parents think i am an extremest just becaus i don't celebrate my birthday, i say to them "stop buying me things becaus i don't like to celebrate" and they still do it, naudhubillah, todays people are celebraiting all sorts of traditions, easter, cristmas, halloween and all sorts of shirk-celebrations, we have eid ul fitr and eid ul adha and alhamdulillah ramadan as well, is it not enough, May Allah streangthen this Ummah and protect us from shirk and bid'aa, Thumma Ameen
uhmmm westerners use cameras the prophet(saw) sahaba's didnt use it therefor its not permissible for a muslim to use it !!!! NOT logical got to give specifics why
@oilcanharry07...I will give you an example so you understand. Allah (swt) tells us in the Qur'an to establish regular prayers. Now, how to pray, how many rakah's, thats not mentioned. For that we have to follow the prophet. Meaning how he prays we pray likewise. Thats (sunnah) now. If the prophet didn't celebrate the birthday of his daughter Fatima, then why are muslim running around celebrating the birthday's of their kids. In religion u cant take what you like, and reject what you don't.
@oilcanharry07... Another thing, we all love our kids & family right, if something ever happened to them it will break our heart's.. In reality the majority of us fail to realize when we celebrate their Birthdays and wish them long lives.. the irony is that we are actually celebrating their one year being closer to death.
@hellblazersharif .. What the speaker said is the truth, And truth is never sweet. No one is forcing you to agree or disagree that is your choice. Keep in mind the Jews and the Christians, took from their book, what suited them and rejected what didn't. So Allah told us in (Surah Fatiha 1:7 ) the Jews are in his (wrath) and the christians are (strayers) lost.
@ROAD2WISDOM I mean what is wrong with celebrating your birthday? i go out with my close friends for dinner at a halal restaurant. we dont indulge in anything haram. I offer salah as per normal, and i ask allah for guidance and peace... sometimes i invite my relatives over and we have dinner... this is how i celebrate my birthday... can you point out and tell anything which i did which is a direct violation to Islam?
@hellblazersharif I do the same thing, I am the only muslim in my family. I am trying to show my family that Islam is not this extreme religion. For my children, I invite my parents over for dinner and keep it very simple there is no crazy party. My children or 9 and 7, I have only been muslim about 2 years, so I am in a difficult position. I am in the west and I can't even get Eid's off, I have worked the last 2. holidays. I am not thinking about or honoring the history of birthdays.
@indelwyn i'll pray to allah to ease your burden as soon as possible. I wish you all the best in life brother. hopefully, i feel that muslims will change their view on this.
Allah A'alaam if they are actually "forbidden" but i definitely agree for muslims especially non western ones, to be just a little bit more original and not celebrate everything that western culture throws at you.I mean increasingly we are seeing how whats called "Love Eid" technically Saint Valentine's day is being more and more celebrated in muslim countries. Is that also ok ?its clearly a christian celebration celebrating a Saint !look Wiki. I have nothing against the person, its just not us!

muslims DONT have an identity. What you call identity is basically arabic culture. Islam was not sent to the arabs only. It was sent to all.
And you look fairly silly wearing that thing on your head indoors in a studio. I bet you think wearing that makes look believable.
