york-shire....lol , yes background noise is not kewl, like the hand washing.., over the top pepper mill, didn't know ya could put pyrex at over 350, pudding looks about right, beef a bit rare but yumm
Ok one quite important thing to note here, Yorkshire is pronounced YORKSHEER. Yes I know it's spelled Yorkshire, but trust me it's pronounced YORKSHEER. The same as New Hampshire is pronounced New HampSHEER. Other than that everything else appeared to be more or less correct.
Right, traditionally, Yorkshire puddings would be round, individual ones cooked in a special tin. Also we would serve carrots with it and a little horseradish sauce or some English mustard. However, the roast potatoes look crispy and I think would live up to the standard of my mother's roasties.
@Feisty1967 No one makes roast potatoes as good as your own mother's! My mum's are the best! She par-boils them then roughs them up by shaking them in a coliander (sp?) and then puts them in a roasting tin with a little bit of olive oil that has been heated up in the oven then puts the roasting tin in the oven until they are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Just made myself SO hungry!
@Landotter1 I am English and I think you will find it is pronounced York SHEER, NOT Yorksure. That makes no sense at all. Ask any British person and they will tell you its YorkSHEER, THAT IS HOW IT IS PRONOUNCED.
@Feisty1967 Not saying you are wrong but that's the way it sounds to me.. "Sure" maybe there are different dialects? I don't know.... How can I possibly argue? I'm not English.... Anyway, that's what it sounds like to me so....
@Feisty1967 Im English and pronounce it as York - CHER pudding lol :) But but if we all want to get technical it is prnounced York-SHEER I have never actually heard it been called "York-SHIRE in the UK even though it is spelt that way, I guess it depends which part of the UK you are from with all the diff accents out there.
@sparkandflame Yeah, I reckon it depends on the dialect I don't know... I just try to say things right. I'm sick of being called a stupid American, when in fact I am way more up on other languages and cultures, not to mention geography, tham many other Americans. I have surprized many people on what I know about their culture. :-D They mostly say "You're American?" It's funny for me!!! :-D Anyway, back to food!!!
@sparkandflame Now, by golly George, that makes the most sense!!! Roger-that, Roger!!! I'll start saying it that way... :-D Thanks for clarifying it!!!
There is NOTHING better than a proper English roast. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with gravy and Horseradish sauce on a cold Sunday after a walk in the woods or country lanes here in England...followed by a lovely English apple pie & custard. English food is the nicest in the world, especially our comfort food. Thanks so much for posting x
Ooow just like my mum used to make! Yorkshire pudding is a good northern dish.. you can make individual round ones & use them as bowls for stew.. also you can make smaller round ones and add ice cream or fruit puree to them! I love your channel... do you have any recipes for breakfast soups?
You do not add any raising agent. plus being English no need to add water. i was laughing so much at the video. the proper way to cook Yorkshire Pudding is plain flour (no need to siv), egg and milk. also mix it yourself dosen't take too long no need to make a well either just a good beating for a few mins You don't even have to use dripping. many use cooking oil in the dish and why it would take 40 mins is beyond me too when if the cooking oil is hot (pre heat)
It looks delicious. Thanks very much for the video, there are some great tips here. I have to say, though, it's not pronounced york-SHIRE, it's YORK-sher.
This is the best. I really miss my Mother's Rib Roast and Yorkshire pudding for the Holiday's. Told my wife if we dont spend time with the family, then this is what I am making for us. She will love it. It will be her first time having English Yorkshire pudding. A real treat!
@jonnyparkes6 Cherry pie or pecan pie for me!!!!! No horseraddish, please..... You forgot pancakes for breakfast. I like them either flat French (crepe) or fluffy American, but don't forget maple syrup and peanut butter on the American style and a healthy side of sausage.... Now that's breakfast bro!!! If not, hook me up with 4 eggs, over easy, hash-brown taters and a thick slab of honey cured ham or pea-meal bacon..... Now, I'm "starvin' Marvin"...,. woo-hoo!!!! Love English food!!!!
Hi Maria Try whizzing your Yorkshire pudding batter in a blender..no need to do the well, mixer thing...early in the day...put blender jar in the fridge to rest & re-whiz just before baking in large muffin tins that have had a tsp of beef drippings put into each cup...preheat in the hot oven til smoking then pour in batter...bake 475 for 15-20 mins....individual impressive servings. Fill centre of Yorkshires with gravy Yummola
Shallots are just about the best things ever... I love putting finely sliced deep fried shallots on everything, especially fried rice, which they really enhance. I'm definitely going to have to try your glazed ones here.
BTW, just wanted to say that everyone I've fed it to is completely addicted to your dutch baby from a couple weeks ago! So delicious!
*scampers off to tend to his cinnamon raisin french toast*
Mushy PEAS!! nicely done.
BTW, in Yorkshire we often have the Yorkshire pudding as a starter with gravy before the main meal.

Wonderful dish. I have also added some scant beef drippings to the pudding batter for a very flavorful outcome. I love this video!

you can put the mixing bowl over a damp towel shaped around the base in a circle. that way it won't move or turn while you use the mixer :)
