  • This is so awesome! I plan on going for a ride one day myself! Thanks for posting this!

  • RAVEN BALLOONS; YAAAY!

  • hot air balloons scare me :L

  • Very cool video..

  • Great video :D Nice views. Above the clouds... wow :) And the burger-talk haha Great stuff. Thanks for sharing it :)

  • if i have a hot air balloon, im going to fly it everyday!!

  • I've always wanted to try ballooning :P looks so cool.

  • can't believe this thing was filmed in the 80's! interesting to see how things where back then. I was born in the early 90's.

  • @EpiDemic117 things were pretty much the same in the 80's, except we didn't have the internet, so we spent our time trying to figure out what horrible things we could make our hair do...

  • @cheshirepat30 Well you could use it as a whip, a parachute, a slingshot (use some type of hair product that makes your hair elastic). Make it shoot flames and have landing gear. Install afterburners in it. IDK

  • Greetings

very cool, come to me in the channel and watch videos with international Ballooning Festival "Montgolfeerie"

  • very cool

  • Nice to see this..

  • what fuel does it use?

  • I used to crew with Skysurfer Balloon Co. (They had the balloon with the palm trees and clouds on it in the video) back in 1998 to 2000 before all of that area started to get developed. =/ I really miss my old job and the guys I used to crew with there... I'm glad I got to see the old chasing grounds again =,)

  • i do this as a hobby

  • If only I could go on a hot air balloon ride with the girl I like!

  • sounds like porn music ha ha ha

  • what would happen if you fell out of it while it was high up? dont answer that...

  • Id probably take a parachute to be safe

  • I meant to say also I was impressed with how your wife hopped up into that balloon. I just got my first ride last Sunday and was not at all that nimble! Now I'm going to try posting a video response showing you one of the three clips I made...

  • Great editing, and your voiceover and titles help us understand what we're looking at. Man, 1988...what kind of camcorder did you have then? But you edited just a couple of years ago? With what program? Anyhow, what a nice way to remember a stellar event in your family's life.

  • Great video ! Thanks for making it. I've been thinking of getting licensed to fly a hot air balloon and buying one, but Geezz there's alot more to it than people realize. It takes a lot of labor and money to keep you in the game. I wish you the best in your future flights !

  • This is amazing, thank you for this video I needed to really know the details of the structure for an art piece. :)

  • so majestic. its settled, i know what i'm doing for my sweet 18. thanx for the idea

  • Well I'm going sky-diving, so beat that

  • iam going to have to drop by and get some burgers sometime LOL

  • very nice

  • well kiss my grits this is the closest i have ever gotten to one.

well actually in 1986 a balloon landed in our garden in grande prairie alberta canada during the world balloon championships

  • WOW. If it was like my landings, tons of people came rushing over. Thanks for the comments.

  • @NightFlyyer my down rating was an accident. Sorry.

  • wow you sound really old saying "well kiss my grits"

  • sounds like porn music LoL

  • LOL. Great.

  • I still enjoy watching this Dave!

  • Thanks kindly.

  • Do you live in iowa or south dakota

  • Iowa, 60 miles east of Sioux Falls, where I roller skate at the rink every wed night (tomorrow 11th) Taking some helis to the rink tomorrow too for some after session at 9 PM flying.

  • Wow Dave, you have done a little bit of everything in your lifetime haven't you. Sure looked fun, my first balloon ride did not turn out so well, I was very yound but we landed in a tree somehow. No one was hurt but at the age of nine I was pretty scared. Ladder truck had to get us down lol.

  • Wow. I remember one flight we had, we had to hit a tree to slow down and stop, as there was not other place to land and that is what he did, but no ladder truck for me. Glad your all okay.

  • Hello Dave, you did a nice gift to your family in 1988 .... nice idea and video quiet as the flight.

  • Thanks. That is very kind of you to say.

  • LOL "eyy wutrya cookin?" haha. so freakin close to those houses.

  • your daughter is 34 right now??

  • 32 and don't tell her I told you. LOL.

  • -"oh dad, look! the people on the ground look like little ants!"

-"these ARE little ants, we did not take off yet..."

  • LOL.

  • hey dave.

you could stick some wings on that blower and get it flying lol

  • LOL. Now your talking!!!

  • maybe add a little motor / engine behind too =)

  • LOL. Yep, don't lean over too far.

  • Looks like you got to about 10,000ft(do you know the exact height?)

  • I don't think we got that High, but we were up there for sure. I think is was closer to 5,000 feet.

  • ohh well still pretty high did you see any planes while you were up.

  • Yep, almost a mile up. Never saw any planes as that is a restricted airspace.

  • you remind me of my grandfather, always doing cool things, and filming everything, he serioulsy has over 1,000 vhs tapes, and 400 family movies. but u rock dave! plus my grandfathers name is dave as well. haha

  • I was into rc and model airplanes long before that flight. I started model airplanes in 1957, and now am almost 61 years old and still in it.

  • Absolutely amazing! How do you get it back? With a pole? 5 great big stars!!!

  • Thanks kindly Jeff... A pole may be needed sometimes for sure. Call me.

  • You are surely a lucky man. That looked just amazing. Thanks for sharing. 5*

  • very nice video . was the camera you used was it one that you have to put tapes in becuse how did you get it onto the camera . i have one like that and lots of videos i want to put on youtube . thanks

  • Thank you. Yes it was a VHS recorder that was strapped to my waist and a big Panasonic camera I carried. I have a DVD recorder that I can make DVDs from my tapes. From there I put the DVD in my computer and Magix Movie Edit pro, recognizes the .vob files and then I can edit it.

  • AWESOME...it is an expensive ride.

  • It cost $600 back then 20 years ago.

  • Excellent video Dave. Really enjoyed the flight. 5 stars ~ Eric

  • Thanks much Eric. I appreciate that. I know you must be busy watching videos for your contest.

  • Thats awesome. We are just having the Canadian Championships here right now. Check out my 3 part series. Just put them on tonight right after i was out to see them. Balloons are my favorite way to fly. Great video as always. 5/5

  • Thanks much. I will check out your vids.

  • hey dave great vid!! what was the highest altitude you reached in that thing!!. you shot some amazing footage!

  • Thanks kindly. I think we were somewhere around 3500 feet altitude at the highest point, I don't remember.

  • thats one way of proving that hot air rises

  • For sure!

  • those ballon smells like poop

  • Huh?

  • That is a absolutely amazing vid 5/5 !!!

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • That was so cool how ya'll flew right over people's houses that low. That is legal right? lol. If I saw a balloon fly over my place I'd think "What the hell!?"

  • So would I. Haha. No nude tanning in the back yard in Del Mar for sure, as they fly balloons all the time.

  • so how do they steer it ? thanks dave

  • Usually they change directions by either gaining or lowering the altitude of the balloon as wind currents move in different directions depending on how high up you actually are.

  • That is right, as I explained. High makes you go inland (east) and low makes you go towards the beach,(west). No steering whatsoever.

  • You cannot steer, just go with the flow.

  • looks fun

  • Thanks. Yep, lots of fun.

  • Yep, it was. Thanks.

  • Great Video I must do that some day..Thanks Dave

  • Thanks Greg. It was lots of fun. You would love it.

  • Another awesome vid Dave! Keep em' comin.

  • fiiiirrrrrrrrrrrsssssssst!

  • Nice video, they are fun, I rode in one at my dad's company picinic, but it only went up like 100ft and came back down. But still very fun*****

  • Thanks kindly. Glad you got to experience one too.
