@EpiDemic117 things were pretty much the same in the 80's, except we didn't have the internet, so we spent our time trying to figure out what horrible things we could make our hair do...
@cheshirepat30 Well you could use it as a whip, a parachute, a slingshot (use some type of hair product that makes your hair elastic). Make it shoot flames and have landing gear. Install afterburners in it. IDK
I used to crew with Skysurfer Balloon Co. (They had the balloon with the palm trees and clouds on it in the video) back in 1998 to 2000 before all of that area started to get developed. =/ I really miss my old job and the guys I used to crew with there... I'm glad I got to see the old chasing grounds again =,)
I meant to say also I was impressed with how your wife hopped up into that balloon. I just got my first ride last Sunday and was not at all that nimble! Now I'm going to try posting a video response showing you one of the three clips I made...
Great editing, and your voiceover and titles help us understand what we're looking at. Man, 1988...what kind of camcorder did you have then? But you edited just a couple of years ago? With what program? Anyhow, what a nice way to remember a stellar event in your family's life.
Great video ! Thanks for making it. I've been thinking of getting licensed to fly a hot air balloon and buying one, but Geezz there's alot more to it than people realize. It takes a lot of labor and money to keep you in the game. I wish you the best in your future flights !
Iowa, 60 miles east of Sioux Falls, where I roller skate at the rink every wed night (tomorrow 11th) Taking some helis to the rink tomorrow too for some after session at 9 PM flying.
Wow Dave, you have done a little bit of everything in your lifetime haven't you. Sure looked fun, my first balloon ride did not turn out so well, I was very yound but we landed in a tree somehow. No one was hurt but at the age of nine I was pretty scared. Ladder truck had to get us down lol.
Wow. I remember one flight we had, we had to hit a tree to slow down and stop, as there was not other place to land and that is what he did, but no ladder truck for me. Glad your all okay.
cool video dave, i like watching cause am afraid of hights, i wouldnt look over a 2 story bulding, i would be sitting in the bottom of this basket prayn till i land
Thanks very much for your comments. I appreciate that and hope you enjoy more from me. Please forward this to all who you think may enjoy it too. Thanks again.

very nice video . was the camera you used was it one that you have to put tapes in becuse how did you get it onto the camera . i have one like that and lots of videos i want to put on youtube . thanks
Thank you. Yes it was a VHS recorder that was strapped to my waist and a big Panasonic camera I carried. I have a DVD recorder that I can make DVDs from my tapes. From there I put the DVD in my computer and Magix Movie Edit pro, recognizes the .vob files and then I can edit it.
Thats awesome. We are just having the Canadian Championships here right now. Check out my 3 part series. Just put them on tonight right after i was out to see them. Balloons are my favorite way to fly. Great video as always. 5/5
That was so cool how ya'll flew right over people's houses that low. That is legal right? lol. If I saw a balloon fly over my place I'd think "What the hell!?"
Usually they change directions by either gaining or lowering the altitude of the balloon as wind currents move in different directions depending on how high up you actually are.

NightFlyyer 3 years ago
so how do they steer it ? thanks dave
mxf7010g8k 3 years ago
Usually they change directions by either gaining or lowering the altitude of the balloon as wind currents move in different directions depending on how high up you actually are.
ssrc30 3 years ago
That is right, as I explained. High makes you go inland (east) and low makes you go towards the beach,(west). No steering whatsoever.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
You cannot steer, just go with the flow.
